Obama needs to decide is he is going to be the leader of the country or is he going to be the leader of the the Democrat Party. If he wants to continue to champion Party causes instead of leading this country them he needs to resign as President. The Republicans only gained control of the house 2 years ago because Obama was doing such a crappie job. How soon we forget..  (Dec 11, 2012 | post #11)

Job Requirements To become a game warden in Texas, all applicants must be 21 years old before entering the training academy, and must hold a bachelor's degree. Applicants are also required to pass a physical exam, drug test, criminal background check and psychological test. After meeting all requirements, applicants must attend and complete a training process administered by the Game Warden Training Center. Average Salary In May 2009, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimated there were 450 game wardens employed in Texas. The annual median wage was $50,820. The 25th percentile earned $43,790 per year and the 75th percentile earned $55,640 per year. No they weren't leaving in fact they said they never considered it until Ron approached them about buying the building. Man your memory is horrible  (Dec 10, 2012 | post #46)

It is the leader's responsibility to find common ground and bring compromise. If it is the House's responsibility to bring compromise then they are the leaders of this country not Obama.  (Dec 10, 2012 | post #8)

It is not my job to agree with you; it is not my job to champion your causes; it is my job to make sure everyone is heard and their concerns are answered. It is also my job to gather peoples opinions, build consensus and do what is best for the community. I have only found 4 types of people that like this park. 1) The ones that dreamed it up 2) city employees {because government will never admit they made a mistake} 3) people that benefitted from it financially and 4) the ones that don’t know what it cost. As soon as I tell them what it cost they think it was a waste of money. So which are you? The one thing that irks me the most is we run 15 STATE PAYING JOBS OUT OF TOWN and used economic development money to do it. Even future leaders won’t see the benefit in this  (Dec 4, 2012 | post #35)

I said WW2 era Quonset Hut was historical and should be saved if the choir was going to continue to sing “Historical Downtown” in the key of F. The Town Plaza is dysfunctional now. It was not designed for public use it was designed for the high rise plaza. Another words we spent approximately $5 million to build the yard before we built the house. Not a very bright move. We could have got a lot more for a lot less. Years ago I use to care what people thought of the way I dressed………..nahhhh !!!! I didn’t care then either  (Dec 4, 2012 | post #34)

Thank you so much for the complement. You are so right; you do have to think backwards in time so you don’t repeat the same mistakes and to also look for things that have worked well in the past. That is why after working nearly a year on the Comp Plan I could not support it. The plan complimented past projects that by any measurable standards are miserable failures. I felt like by complementing these projects we would repeat the mistakes of the past. Again thank you for noticing  (Nov 26, 2012 | post #17)

Yes I know who to blame, the people who decided to buy it in the first place and the idiots who came up with the idea to spend more money fixing it up than the building is worth. I for one got tired of paying someone $8k a month to occupy the building and pouring 100's of thousands of dollars into this money pit. Thank you John for stopping the madness. Government needs to stay out of real estate development because they suck at it and this project proves it  (Nov 25, 2012 | post #14)

Also the EDC contributed heavily to the renovation. Government makes their profits from taxes not investments. That is why selling this building is good for the citizens, the city can go back to making profit the only way they know how; TAX the new owner Regardless government should not be involved real estate development because they cannot admit they made a mistake and move on. There are three examples of this locally. 1. Five points, 2. Gateway project & 3. cruise ship terminal. Unlike the private sector government will continue to throw good money after bad and in the case of the terminal and the gateway, they pay people to occupy the facility and hail it as a great deal. The reason why is simple it's not their money. We removed any hint of the city to be involved in real estate development in the comp plan because of this  (Nov 25, 2012 | post #12)

I voted against it. I was not going to put my name on anything that said five points was the greatest thing since slice bread. The plan update cost approx $70K. The plan process was started by Bottoms  (Nov 25, 2012 | post #11)

The old police station lived thru its life cycle so I would consider everything we make on that one as profit. 912 Main official lost $550,000 counting the cost to move Economic Alliance out. Unoffcially I place the figre closer $1.4 million.  (Nov 24, 2012 | post #3)

Without the white vote...

Obama was elected by the votes found in the metropolitan areas. This demographic is heavily influenced by media bias and are dependent on government subsidies and employment.  (Nov 24, 2012 | post #3)

Jackson is a crook

Really, there is no outrage over the activities of your Democratic leadership. Based on Jackson's actions and your comments these traits appear to be more Democratic than Republican. In the words of Jesus "Why do you look at the speck that is in brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you can see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye  (Nov 24, 2012 | post #11)

Can you imagine the media uproar if he was republican. This only proves incompetence and corruption is rampant in the democratic party.  (Nov 22, 2012 | post #5)

Cruise Ships Coming

So we have to pay Norwegian 6.7 million to sail out of Bayport 37 times. Wow this is still a boondoggle. Does anyone know how much it will cost us if they pickup the 2 year option..  (Nov 22, 2012 | post #48)

Jackson is a crook

Where is the media outrage? How come they are soft selling the real reason for the resignation? Oh wait he is a democrat that explains it. Instead of being condemned by the democratic leadership they lined up to give him praise. His dad, Jackson Sr, said he needed time off because of his illness, what a joke the real reason is because it was a plea deal with the FBI to avoid prosecution. People in the 2nd district were perplexed why this is the second congressman from their district that resigned with a cloud over their head. Serve them right for voting strictly on the basis a race instead of qualifications. Isn't this where Obama came from?  (Nov 22, 2012 | post #1)
