Indiana Hoosiers NCAA Football

Hoosiers' bowl hopes are fading quickly

Getting real old to hear all the excuses..injuries, bad calls. Will IU ever field a competitive team in the Big 10 or is it time to think about a new coach? Or a new conference? Sad as it is to think about IU outside the Big 10, but when it comes to football, we'd be better served to compete in the MAC or Conference USA.  (Oct 26, 2010 | post #1)

Gwinnett proposes restrictions on pit bulls

I'm not real sure there should be a ban on these dogs, that seems a bit heavy handed and a bit too socialist/progress ive for me. But there should be restrictions on handling them in public, like mandatory muzzles, not being able to take them into stores, and ensuring that the dog handler be strong enough, and old enough, to physically control the dog on a lead.  (Oct 20, 2010 | post #1)

Health Care - Lawrenceville, GA

I have a life, and I have MS. In fact I'm retired because of it. And I will vote for anyone who promises to repeal this bastardization of our health care system. Sorry we disagree, but the majority of people I know are very skeptical of this mandate, and can find nothing in the Commerce Clause to give Congress this power. But I'll never understand why anyone would support a Bill that was railroaded through in the ugliest of fashions, and even with my medical condition, I won't participate in this...at all.  (Oct 9, 2010 | post #41)

Rodriquez Medical of Lawrenceville: Door to Door Flyers?

I'm experiencing a big dose of culture shock I think. I've only been in Georgia since June of 2010, and since then, I've had more flyers stuck on my door than I did in 14 years living in Ohio. There, door to door flyers are a form of solicitation, since it's advertisement used to induce business, and that's the very definition of solicitation. Here, according to Gwinnett County Cops, I don't have a) any rights now as renter to call a complaint in about trespassers ignoring the No Trespass signs posted in our apartment complex...and b) door to door flyers aren't considered soliciting in Georgia. Huh? Now today I find a door to door flyer from Rodriguez M.D. of Lawrenceville? They hired someone to Trespass? Why would I want to go to a doctor's office where they hire someone to break the law in an effort to drum up business? Whether or not I'm a renter, I'm still an American with a guaranteed right to a reasonable expectation of privacy, and I don't think someone shoving flyers under my door should be protected. I'm not willing to sacrifice my right to privacy to Pizza K, Chinese Delight, Chinese Palace, or Doctors Rodriguez. This has to stoop.  (Oct 9, 2010 | post #1)

Gay Marriage - Lawrenceville, GA

Marriage is an institution founded in many articles of faith, i.e. the Bible, the Koran, etc. The Gay lifestyle is banned in the very same articles of faith, so gay marriage would be a corruption of faith. It isn't bigotry since it is a lifestyle choice.  (Oct 2, 2010 | post #7)

Immigration - Lawrenceville, GA

I only wish Georgia would enact a similar law. It would be nice to go to a fast food restaraunt and actually hear English spoken...again.  (Oct 1, 2010 | post #4)

Nothing in our Constitution gives our government the right to force this upon us... will NEVER submit to this...  (Oct 1, 2010 | post #39)

Marijuana - Decatur, GA

It's very similar to the alcohol prohibition by the Progressives in the roaring twenties...it's creating a cartel that's killing Mexican citizens, much the same way Al Capone ran Chicago back in the days of the skinny flapper girls and speak easys. Legalize marijuana, and control it, and it strikes a strong blow against organized crime. Besides that, it's my body..why is marijuana any different than a shot of scotch or a pack of cigarettes?  (Oct 1, 2010 | post #8)

What you guys think about Chinese women?

The only ones I've met are here in Lawrenceville since moving here the past three months. And most can't speak english...it's like Kentucky Fried Chicken has become Cantonese Fried Chicken...and man, are they LOUD! There are pretty women of all races though...  (Oct 1, 2010 | post #3)

Lawrenceville Pizza K Tresspassing

And btw..Georgia is a beautiful state and I expected to find a rich southern culture and research my family's genealogy. Our family traces its roots back to the Revolutionary War with James Howard, who was originally from Wilkes County Georgia and worked the Cumberland Gap into Kentucky with Daniel Boone. Beautiful state... but man, that privacy issue sucks. LOL  (Oct 1, 2010 | post #4)

Lawrenceville Pizza K Tresspassing

I'm guaranteed a reasonable expectation of privacy as a citizen of the United States. In our old community, leaving advertisements on door handles was a form of door to door solicitation, and heavily controlled through permits and address lists of residentrs that had placed their homes on a do not solicit list. Violate that list, pay heavy fines and get escorted out of town. By the police. Where it differs here, is that door flyers are considered advertising, the police won't get involved, and my right to privacy has been violated. But trespassing is still trespassing..there are other reasonable outlets for advertising that are legal and don't involve breaking the law. Whenever someone comes onto private property without authorization, i.e. door flyers, that's the very definition of trespass. My adjustment? Getting used to having strange people come to my door and shove things under the door? No... never gonna happen. The businesses, Pizza K, and the various Chinese diners, can use the postal service.  (Oct 1, 2010 | post #3)

Lawrenceville Pizza K Tresspassing

Pizza K of Lawrenceville has a trio of young men delivering door to door flyers after our apartment complex's operating hours and it clearly violates the "No Trespassing, No Soliciting" sign posted at the entrance. Despite several calls from the main office of our apartments to Pizza K of Lawrenceville, it continues. This, while not soliciting, is definitely trespassing, and I find it personally aggravating as heck. Despite numerous calls to Lawrenceville Pizza K, they continue to send the flyers door to door, after hours, and won't stop. Lawrenceville and Gwinnett County Police say individuals living in the apartments can't do anything, it has to be the apartment management. Has anybody else had problems with fast food restaraunts trespassing and violating the law just to advertise?  (Sep 30, 2010 | post #1)
