SAM is on walkabout AGAIN

Pamela, this experience has raised some concerns for me as well, however, Topix being what it is, I'm not going to discuss it here. I would welcome the opportunity to speak with you more in-depth. If you would e-mail me your contact info to [email protected] I would so appreciate it, and, of course, it would be kept confidential. Thank you so much for your help with this.  (Sep 22, 2012 | post #18)

SAM is on walkabout AGAIN

Yep, I've got him and all his tags were on him. The shelter says they tried multiple times to contact me but my home and cell phones haven't registered any calls from them since he went missing. I'm just glad he's home and under "house arrest". What I don't understand is why the three calls I made to the animal shelter over the last two days were all answered with a "NO, we don't have him" when I described him in detail, and he was there all along. I just don't understand that. There wasn't another dog there that looked even remotely like him, so it's hard for me to understand why I was told no. Ah well, he's home and safe and that's what matters. Thanks to everyone who was helping look for him. He's going to be under "house arrest" for a while.  (Sep 21, 2012 | post #11)

Thanks, Pamela, I got him and he is now officially under house arrest. The only thing that I'm disturbed about is that he had ALL of his tags on him, yet neither my cell phone or my home phone is registering ANY calls from either the lady who picked him up OR the animal shelter and BOTH say they tried to contact me multiple times. Oh well, at least he's home, safe and sound. Thank you all for your concern. Now if they can just catch that big old black hairy stray that's been roaming our neighborhoods for months now, who is very streetwise and won't go near their traps. They're going to have to use a tranqiulizer to get him but it's going to be at least three months before they have any. Those folks don't have an easy job.  (Sep 21, 2012 | post #5)

Thank you, Pamela. He's such a sweetheart and we're really missing him. I'm going out several times a day looking for him, but being a terrier, he has his own mind about things. He's probably hearing me, but just isn't ready to come home yet, because he knows, from past experience, that he'll be put on "house arrest" for a while when he DOES return. Again, thank you for your help.  (Sep 21, 2012 | post #2)

Not yet, and no one has called. I'm going out looking again this morning. I'll be sure to let everyone know when the little miscreant gets home.  (Sep 21, 2012 | post #7)

SAM is on walkabout AGAIN

Yes, he is family. He went on walkabout back at the start of the summer and some wonderful folks found him and called me. I'm praying the same thing happens this time. He's probably within the sound of my voice but KNOWS he's in trouble. Little twerp.  (Sep 20, 2012 | post #3)

SAM is on walkabout AGAIN

If you live in the St. Mary's, North Williams, Whitfield/St. Claire areas, please be on the lookout for Sam the Westie. He went on walkabout this morning and hasn't turned up. Last time he did this he turned up over on North Williams by cutting through all those pastures back behind St. Mary's. He's a neutered, one-eyed West Highland White Terrier, about 16 lbs. He's had all his shots, is wearing a green & yellow collar with all his tags attached, including a blue dog bone with his name on the front and contact phone numbers on the back. If you've sighted him or know where I can go retrieve the little twerp, please let me know. He's a pain in the rear, but I love him dearly and really want him home. He's done really well since the last time, but again, he'll be under house arrest once I get him back. Thanks for your help in bringing him home.  (Sep 20, 2012 | post #1)

Looking for something for my 13 year old to do this summer

Kiddo would be there, but has "aged out". Has gone every year prior to now but very few Bible schools are for 13 year olds. Thanks for the suggestion though.  (Jun 20, 2012 | post #23)

Looking for something for my 13 year old to do this summer

Hey Poppa T, so good to see you, I miss your insightful and informed posts on here. You've got some great ideas, most of which are already being done. What I was looking for was organized activities with other kids in the same age group. Kiddo already cares for two dogs, a cat and a horse. Is also currently caring for other people's plants and critters while they're on vaca. to earn money, has an Audubon field guide to birds that's got a log in it that would make most adult bird-watchers envious, helps in the garden. The unfortunate thing is that, due to health problems, I can't tolerate the heat and humidity during the summer so doing things like nature walks and hanging at Kisatchie for the day could very easily end up with me in the hospital, and being unemployed and without health insurance, not a good thing. But thanks for weighing in with some great suggestions. Hope you are doing well.  (Jun 12, 2012 | post #16)

homes for rent in natchitoches

Folks, that address of 1101 E. 5th St. is St. Mary's. I've noticed lots of "For Rent" signs posted in front of places all over town. Now that NSU is out, it should be fairly easy to find a place.  (Jun 7, 2012 | post #7)

Thanks to all for the input. Child is already signed up at the library and is active in our church, but like so many other things, most youth activities shut down in the summer. Same with Boy/Girl Scouts. There's lots going on during the school year, but during the summer it dries up. Will probably be attending art camp at NSU.  (Jun 6, 2012 | post #8)
