Hello Lost and Alone, You do have to be careful about using certain products and eating certain foods. I know you have to avoid vinegars. It's just a case of looking at the labels on the bottles and jars. Cologne does contain alcohol so you'll have to give that a miss. I can't find any alcohol free aftershave so i just use a balm lotion. Consult your doctor if you need to know more about foods and products! :)  (Tuesday Dec 1 | post #534)

Hello Jackie, I will keep that appointment i promise! I think i might have done my insides some damage this time so i have to go! I've got sod all growing on my allotment apart from Massivus Weedicus, Weedicus Lots-of-us and more weeds! :) Lost the motivation to get stuck in but hopefully with new energy i will start up again. this is why i need to take antabuse permanently. £42 on vodka over 1 weekend, 4 bottles from just one shop (what must they have thought!), jumping over allotment fences, losing keys to house, losing keys to allotment shed, sleeping in the shed, falling over in puddles, ripping my jeans, having to ring landlady for new key, meeting up with for new key looking like a right tramp, missing a day from work, not sleeping at all, and then finding out that you only have £31 to last you 2 weeks until next pay day. i am such an idiot. i hate myself for last weekend and guess what? i'm 37 years old. it's definitely back on the antabuse for me PERMANENTLY!  (Oct 14, 2009 | post #36)

Antabuse IS amazing if you take it everyday and don't stop occasionally to drink. I have made that mistake AGAIN and i feel really quite ill. I can actually feel my swollen kidneys inside me and my stomach has pains. When i was taking my perscription of antabuse i never even thought of alcohol. Hello Jackie. Hang in there mate, you're doing a fine job! Get your chickens some actionman machine guns. That'll scare the cat off! I can see the love for your brother is strong but it seems he's beyond help. He can only help himself and perhaps you and your family not being there for him might spur him on to do something. Sounds bad i know. It's only how i see it. My antabuse course is going well. I think it's 2 months now without a drink. It's certainly 2 months without a craving or urge. if you mean that you think cetyl alcohol is way down the list of ingredients in a bottle of your lotion because of it's low content then don't. you only need a drop to feel the horrible side effects. i don't know what you're lotions are for but i'm sure there are alternatives. i have to use a specific range of toiltries  (May 29, 2009 | post #33)

Jackie, i'm always on here when really i should be paying more attention to my job!! :) glad to hear your brother is/was sober. hopefully the realisation of what he's like will dawn on him. what i couldn't cope with is how other people thought of me.
