I have been to the "real" part of Mexico, far from the tourists areas! I stayed at my Mexican Father in laws house, not a yuppied up condo on the beach! I had to speak what Spanish I know to get by, and I even walked alone about half a mile back to my Father in laws to get my son different clothes at 1:30 am New years Eve!! NOT at all scary, very respectful people, extremely beautiful...OH and they even use refrigerators, and working toilets! WOW...I know it's hard for some to grasp fully, but it is the truth! Mexico is an AWESOME place, and I cannot wait to visit again! (Jul 28, 2008 | post #32)
I don't even know where Madagascar is!! So I have never wanted to go there, but now that you mention it, I am sure I will look it up and then....I will probably want to go too!;) (Apr 6, 2008 | post #38)
OK....we don't have everything in common...I cannot keep a garden, I can't even keep a plant!!! They die! :( (Apr 6, 2008 | post #37)
Well he is very lucky to have such a great mom who knows what she is talking about! I read a little bit on Dysphasia earlier after you mentioned it, and I didn't really see much that fit munchie(my son), I do see some characteristics of Dyspraxia though...do you know much about that one? I think I might try and have him tested elsewhere...as of now we are going to an SLP through the school district and at first she said he had Selective Mutism...after doing some research, I told her there is absolutely no way that is it...none of the symptoms fit him! She would have treated him for that, if I had not taken the time to find out about it, and I am a very strong advocate for my children ( I also have a 7 year old with a learning disability...he has a hard time reading, but is acing math, and every other subject, he is almost completely caught up now...he has worked his butt off for it!) I do not accept just any term that is thrown out at us!!! I enjoy the research anyway! It gives me something to learn, and I truly enjoy learning new things! (Apr 6, 2008 | post #36)
Well....ummmmm.... .kind of yeah!;) I draw cartoons....that is by far my passion! I don't draw my own though, I draw "off of" others, it's not the same as copying, I eye it and draw what I see! And I gotta admit I am pretty good at it! Actually our Head Start home visitor, has seen a few drawings that I did for my kids, ie; the little mermaid. sponge bob ect. and asked me to paint the window at their center! I have to go do that next week! I am not sure most people would call me an artist, but I do love to draw! I am just getting into these new blendable colored pencils, and charcoal, I am also trying to do some of my own work...it's hard to do after so many years of working off of someone else's, but I love the blends...I hope to get good at it eventually it is difficult to get the correct blends together! So what do we not have in common then??? (Apr 6, 2008 | post #33)
YAY...Rogers here!!!! Is there anywhere you haven't been Roger???;) (Apr 6, 2008 | post #31)
I am normally extremely knowledgeable in the area of medicine, but had never spent much time on speech/language disorders to know the difference! Now I wish I had spent more time on that subject, because I am throwing myself into it, and once I start a research topic, I get addicted, and want to know more!!! (Apr 6, 2008 | post #24)
I had a feeling you were...but didn't want to offend you! ;} (Apr 6, 2008 | post #22)
It's one of the filters that hang over the side of the tank...I am not sure what the differences are! It says it was for 15-30 gallon aquariums! Its like the one in Finding Nemo, if you've ever seen that movie, where Nemo tries to go through the tube, and clog it! (Apr 6, 2008 | post #21)
What does your son have? How old is he? What is his name? My son's name is Hector Jr. but we call him Munchie,(I know wierd name huh? but everyone calls him that even his teacher!!!lol!) You have been a huge help! Thank you! Have you ever gone to www.apraxia-kids.o rg? It is a really good website, and they have a message board that you would probably like! (Apr 6, 2008 | post #18)
I absolutely LOVE chihuahuas...it is the only dog I have ever owned and not wanted to rip my hair out with...I have one now, his name is Cuervo, and I swear he is just as spoiled as my kids! And he does a few really cool tricks, he sits, dances, he even walks...across the room on his hind legs!! He is awesome! OK so where is the link to that one? OH and I love that guy Ceaser too! (Apr 6, 2008 | post #14)
I gotta tell ya...I love the analogy!! I am definitely going to heed your advice next time...you sound like you know what your talking about!;) How do you pronounce your name? I have never heard that name before! And I am sorry, just out of nosiness I gotta ask...are you a girl or a guy? I am trying to explain everything you've said to my boyfriend, and I don't know whether to say he or she, and I don't want to refer to you as IT if at all possible! lol! (Apr 6, 2008 | post #11)
1 of the new fish died just a few days after getting them..the other 2 were the older ones, 1 died on Friday, and the other yesterday, we have had the tank setup for about 2 1/2 weeks I guess. After the fish died yesterday, the water became EXTREMELY cloudy within a few hours, if that helps at all! The only thing that has seemed odd at all, other than the cloudy water, is that the 1 remaining older fish has a spot on her, that looks kind of like a blood blister...it first appeared on her about 1 week ago! They all look fine, no signs at all of any type of infection, disease or parasite ect. and act ok...they don't seem stressed, they eat good, and the water still is testing normal, aside from the ammonia, and for that we got ammonia clear and added it to the water last night! We also have an algae eater, that we have had for 2 1/2 years now, this is his 3rd set of fish to live with. He(the lagae eater) was attacking the fish that died on Friday, and then one of the newer fish started in on him, and he was dead less than 30 minutes later, they tore him up pretty good, I have no idea where that came from, or why they would do that! That is all I can think of to tell you right now. Oh, and the tank is a 30 gallon, and each fish is between 2-3 inches in length, aside from the algae eater, which is about 6-7 inches long! Including the algae eater we started out with 9 fish, and now have 6! Thank you for your help...I really appreciate it! (Apr 6, 2008 | post #8)
First off....now you know my real name, so what is yours, if you don't mind me asking!!? So, basically we messed up twice, with the metal ring, and not establishing the new aquarium before placing the fish in it?! And here I thought I was being a good "fish mommy" (lol) because I made sure the water was the correct temp. that they were used to, tested the water ahead of time, and when we got the new fish, I left them in the bag, and placed it in the aquarium so that the temp. would regulate at a gradual pace, instead of just throwing them in and shockin em to death! Dang, there is a lot more to goldfish than I ever thought! I love this thread, now I don't have to feel bad about just talkin! I am really good at that! lol! (Apr 6, 2008 | post #5)
