What Douglas county needs.

Hmmmmmm.... Someone correct me here if I am wrong please. Didn't Mother of 1 on another thread state she is married, they own a lucrative business, she has a brand new 4br/3ba house, a brand new car, a bachelors degree, graduated from CHHS back in 2005 and kids were killed there? LOL Alright in this reply she is a new single Mom who lost her job, and had to move into public housing. She stayed with a friend I am guessing while on the waiting list. Also public housing Mother of 1 is different than being on section 8. With section 8 you can CHOOSE where you rent going by how many bedrooms the vouchers is for, the amount and who accepts it. You can use those vouchers for certain nicer apartment complexes and single family homes. Public housing is over on Pounds circle off of Strickland st. which charges you 10% of your gross income for your rent amount. So Mother of 1 a housing project is different than the section 8 program. Which is it do you live in the housing authority or are you a well to do business owner with a brand new house that you are fixing to pay $115,000 to pay it off? *I am giving myself a headache now, so I will stop*  (Aug 16, 2007 | post #40)

new for everybody but 'sub-group, those 'new people' and ...

You should read some of the hot topic forums like those about illegal immigration and Al Sharpton. Our little Douglasville forum is very kind compared to those. Some of them were so bad that they even shocked me, and I do not get shocked easily. I believe in debating without racial slurs being used or cussing one another. All of us are never going to see eye to eye on every issue out there. The person who had I hate whites as their tag name. Stuff like that is uncalled for. Let me call up my pilot now and have him meet us all over at Charlie Brown airport around 1500 hrs. Ha! (j/k, but again I can't help it. I like to cut jokes a lot, but I haven't had the chance often to do so on here).  (Aug 16, 2007 | post #24)

scanner

That is one busy scanner right there. LOL I listen to Paulding co. at times too, but mostly Douglas co. I can not believe how many 911 hang up calls they get. The people will say they accidentally called 911, but an officer has to check it out anyway just incase. What floors me is the number of businesses and even a bank who are "accidentally " dialing 911. A bank did a 911 hang up call earlier. I forgot which one now. Can you imagine what 911 is thinking when this happens? The absolute worst. I am sorry but I do not see how you can accidentally dial 911 from a standard phone. A cell phone on your side I can see, because people might be leaning on them the wrong way and it starts to dial but a regular phone? Another one of those I just don't get it things.  (Aug 16, 2007 | post #3)

Post Rd?

Ok now they have told the story on the news. He raped a young girl he picked up who had run out of gas on I-20 at 4am. He had been on the run along I-20 up until he was caught there by sound proof. What right is right was right. I guess she didn't have a cell phone on her to call someone to let them know she had run out of gas, so she started walking. He picked her up and then he ran out of gas right there at Post rd. He raped her as they were walking back to her car sitting on the side of I-20. She flagged someone down who called 911, and that is when the manhunt began. An ordeal like this is why I feel EVERY parent out there who has a teen which drives should get them a cell phone. Even if you just get them one that can only dial 911(because I know how they can abuse minutes on them).  (Aug 16, 2007 | post #16)

Where did he escape from? I am just trying to put this together, because Post Rd. and Mason creek were closed off. There is no jail in that area, which is what lead me to believe he was on some sort of work detail. If that be the case he would have been in a jumpsuit, and not regular clothing. I do not know the details. I am just trying to figure it out. I am puzzled right now.  (Aug 16, 2007 | post #13)

Yeah all I heard on the news is that they had parts of Post rd. blocked off and Mason creek, but they never said for what reason. I just assumed there was a bad accident due to the road being closed in that area. I wonder if he escaped from a work detail? I have the scanner on now, but still no word of it. Most of the ones I am hearing right now are the city police, because they keep talking about Strickland St and Brown St.  (Aug 16, 2007 | post #11)

I am the same way, but you'd really be surprised how "some" get offended when you ask. I always explained to them I am asking for their protection. Some still didn't want to hear that, they just wanted to keep calling me a racist for asking. That one time when the lady was writing a check and called me a racial profiler there was another black lady in line right behind her waiting to check out. She was very nice and told me the woman in front of her was acting like a fool, and she said she'd happily show me her ID. I still don't get it as to why there is so much hatred within some people towards another race. I guess I have never been like that, so I can't understand. I treat people good until the tick me off. I don't care what color they are. Just like here on this forum. As soon as people started posting facts about the groups that are failing the most in school someone has to step in yelling that you are a racist for posting a fact. HOW is posting a fact being racist? Again I just don't get it. Maybe all of the blonde hair color from yrs ago sunk into my brain or something. LOL  (Aug 16, 2007 | post #161)

Mugsy I just got it to work. I finally got it to work through winamp, but I haven't heard anything yet. Anyone can listen to it at scandouglasDOTcom All I hear them talking about is Legion lake rd. right now, but it has nothing to do with the escapee Oh that and some idiot driver on Pope Rd. flying through a construction zone. *sighs*  (Aug 16, 2007 | post #9)

My mother just called her best friend who lives off of Mason creek and she had no idea. She said the work detail van was in front of her house when my mother called. Let me know if they caught him, because my computer is so messed up right now. I can not get winamp, real player, i tunes or my media player to work so I can listen to the police scanner. I think one of my kids have screwed my comp. up again. Arghhhhhhhhhhhh!  (Aug 16, 2007 | post #6)

Oh isn't that just lovely? Do you happen to know where he escaped from? Was it a work detail or a county jail? That kinda worries me, because I have a brother in law who lives not too far from there. Maybe I should turn on my police scanner for this one. I haven't had it on in months. A few yrs ago they had someone escape down by where I lived on Milam Rd.He had initially escaped over on Banks Mill if I am not mistaken. For 2 days I heard helicopters flying over and police cars everywhere. What a messed up world we live in these days. It just goes to show you that you are really not safe anywhere anymore. I hope they catch him quickly.  (Aug 16, 2007 | post #3)

Highway 92 North during Rush Hour!

My husband used to work for Cross and Sons which up until a few yrs ago their office was down that way. He hasn't worked there since 2001 and even back then traffic was rough. Backed up to Log cabin all the way from the red light? Geez Louise that is just ridiculous, and My blood pressure would be boiling too if I had to sit in it. I also have complaints about traffic over in town. People from Paulding co. use 92 to go to the mall for the most part. I've seen traffic at times back up from Bankhead at the tracks all the way past Stewart Middle school, and I've even seen it backed up one day all the way to that trailer park(Golden valley I think it is). There was no wreck, just very heavy traffic. Traffic is not going to get any lighter so what the county needs to do is something like they did in Austell by the tracks there to help with traffic and it has worked. They made a new 4 lane road which went up over the tracks and back around to Bankhead. Have any of you seen how heavy traffic is around Christmas on Chapel Hill rd.? INSANE I tell ya. I know we will have to deal with this again this yr. Going North on Chapel Hill rd. right there at the Stewart Mill rd. red light people will completely block that intersection. I was coming out of the back of target last yr and wanted to go straight at the red light onto Stewart Mill rd., but I COULDN'T. People were blocking the entire intersection and backed all the way down Chapel Hill for as far as I could see. I WISH people would sit back at the line when traffic is that heavy to avoid blocking an intersection like that. That mall isn't going to grow legs and walk off,so it will still be there if you must wait an extra 3 minutes to make the next light.  (Aug 16, 2007 | post #7)

I know the name Queen. You are right we had no racial tension growing up. I remember once in high school a big thing broke out with some kids from Douglas co. over at Mazzios pizza. Around 20 black kids from DCHS jumped this white guy that I went to school with. From what I hear the guy I went to school with was running his mouth, and instead of the 1 guy he was arguing with coming up to him a whole group did. Other than that no problems at all. I also blame Al And Jesse for this too. They are constantly on TV playing the race card. Jesse is a flipping hypocrite and a racist as well. He called NYC Hymie Town which is a derogatory remark towards Jewish people. Calling them a Hymie is the same as calling a black person the "N" word or a white person a Honkey/cracker. Oh yeah they jump all over Imus for the remarks he made, yet you have heard them say VERY little about black men referring to black women as **tches, *o's,*luts and so on in many rap songs. I sometimes just don't get it. It is sad that I feel as if I have to walk on pins and needles everytime I open my mouth these days thinking I might say something totally innocent and someone will turn around and say it is a racist remark. During the yrs that I worked in retail I had numerous black women(they were always women, never any men) call me a racial profiler and a racist for doing something as simple as asking to see a drivers license to process a check or asking for a drivers license to process a credit card. That is what I mean by walking on pins and needles. Innocent little things like that which were part of my job are turned into me being a racist. I just don't get why so many act that way. I guess they don't care about Identity theft, because that is why they are asked to show ID. *shrugs*  (Aug 16, 2007 | post #158)

What Douglas county needs.

Right now the housing market sucks. There is really no other way to put it. Builders are in the business to sale homes, and right now they are desperate to get them sold. A lot of builders are selling several homes to these property management places. Some of these places do not accept section 8, but some of them do. I understand fully that there is a cap on section 8 homes as far as the price of the home is concerned. Thing is you can still have a section 8 rental on a home which is $200,000. My husband installs Heating and air for a living. They get a lot of new construction as well as calls on exisiting homes. They have been very slow for months now because homes are not selling. A lot of the builders do not want to start more homes until they start selling the ones already ready basically for move in. I hear him daily talking about how slow work is,and how homes are not selling. It is so bad right now that many builders are giving away new cars if you purchase a home from them, or they give you $20,000 in free upgrades. I have a feeling with the market being slow like this we will see even more section 8 homes soon. The buiders are going to sell to whomever shows them the money, and if it is one of these property management companies then they'll do it. I know not all grafa(section 8) recipients are bad, because I knew an older disabled lady on it. She lives alone, and is very quiet and to herself.  (Aug 16, 2007 | post #37)

Do any of you know about a bad wreck at Post Rd. and Mason creek Rd.? I heard the news say they have the road shut down right now, so I guess it is pretty bad. That is a rough little spot right there and I've seen accidents there in the past.  (Aug 16, 2007 | post #1)

On My Mind:

Is how many immature people and liars who post on the internet. If I wanted to lie believe you and me I would find something luxurious to lie about.

Blog / Website / Homepage:

I am on AOL and I do have a myspace. YOU are not getting it.

I Believe In:

There is intelligent life posting on the internet. Unfortunately the immature ones far outweigh the smart ones these days online. Name calling and cussing lowers your IQ levels down to that of a field mouse. Please do yourselves a favor and stop while you are ahead. Replying with more profanity and name calling is only lowering your IQ levels that much more. If you think you can run me off, hurt my feelings or make me cuss you back it isn't going to happen. This pretty woman here has thick skin, and won't budge for any immature people online.
