While you are at it, do you think you could make Coyle Drive a "No Through Traffic" street? That would be really nice, especially when the new water park gets done.  (Wednesday Sep 24 | post #2)

You are very welcome to patrol and even sit in my driveway to cut down on the speeders that fly through here and especially the ones that decide they no longer need the trash they have with them and just feel free to toss it out on the road.  (Aug 11, 2014 | post #1)

Share The Road

I do not mind to share the road with those on bicycles but there should be a few rules laid down/enforced. At night, lights, reflective clothing. Then the ones on the bicycles should follow all the road sign I have to. Stopping at stop signs, signaling for a turn, etc. They just should not be able to run in and out of traffic. I have seen this happen more then once. They should also have rearview mirrors as well. Just my thoughts. Yours?  (Jun 22, 2014 | post #1)

Cell phones

Our company already has this. No smoking anywhere on the premises. As far as cell phones go, you are paid to work, not talk on you personal cell. I can't stand going into a store to look for something and can't get waited on but there are three people (including the cashier/greeter) standing with their heads down, texting or talking on their cell phone. If your job includes your job to be part of this, then so be it. If you are supposed to be working, have you cell on silence/vibrate and be productive for the place you work. Otherwise, when it comes time for your yearly raise and you get none, don't complain. Look at it from the customer side as well. If you are there to work, then do it. I have gone through a drive through on my lunch hour and couldn't even get waited on due to the cashier texting.  (Apr 15, 2014 | post #19)

Never ending Smith Family benefit events

let me share a request with you. you need to know just how horrible of a time this family and especially Tre' is going through and he is not even close to all he will face the rest of his life: Tré made it through surgery fine this morning. They didn't have to do as much amputation as previously thought: just the tips of a couple toes on each foot to the first joint. He also had the donated skin replaced on his legs and posterior. (It usually lasts two weeks.) They didn't find any more fungus so the silver nitrate solution must be doing it's job. His next scheduled surgery is Monday to replace the donated skin on his arms. He is now awake and responsive. The doctors were positive today. They and their staff are to be commended. Thank you everyone for your prayers, support and concern. It has not gone unnoticed. May God richly bless you.  (Feb 13, 2014 | post #7)

The old Point Pleasant

One of the business places I do not remember anyone to mention was Pete & Jean Duncan. They ran the natural gas company (I don't remember the company name) but it was there on the right coming down Main Street. You could pay your bill there and call in maintenance needs, etc. Of course in due time it got replaced to Ripley or somewhere else. Anyone remember that?  (Jan 5, 2014 | post #1393)

Football Glory

Well "Jake Sanders" thank you for your thumbs. We appreciate them very much. We the fans are far from heart broken. We have circled the wagons, tended to the animals and are around the campfire singing Cum ba ya my Lord! Now is the time for you to sneak out and kill all the enemy and be our next hero. Oh, my, if my history serves me correctly, they give the medal not to the hero, but next of kin. Who would you like it to go to? Never mind that either, we will put it in the trophy case with the Point Pleasant Big Blacks other trophies. When people walk by and say who is the medal for "Jake Sanders" we can proudly say, "Not a clue, he just wanted to be heard and the next hero!" Way to go Jakey boy.  (Dec 1, 2013 | post #2)

Point Football

You can spout all you like. Point played and won. The male count of the school alone tells facts. Point should not be AAA at all. They played the teams they could and did pretty well. They should be AA. The fact that regardless who Point Pleasant Big Blacks play, their fans stand behind them. They travel with them and put their heart into. Many schools do not have this. Maybe yours don't, I don't know. Maybe you keep trying to compare things you should not. Maybe you wanted to be a star yourself and just got overlooked or it was your child. We don't know. But, if you are carrying on with this to get Point up in arms, it won't work. I don't live in Point anymore, nor the state of WV, but will continue to listen to them on www.wbyg.com and still come to the games as often as I can. Even if they lose. It hurts when you don't have that to look forward to. I don't feel sorry for you but wish you all the best and hope you can get behind a team and support them.  (Dec 1, 2013 | post #52)

You overrate Point. It is home to me and I like watching Point when I can and travel 5 hours to go to the games. I have many family and friends still there. The field is great, friends still welcome each other and I will continue my support. I listen on wbyg.com when I am not working and still like hearing Rick Simpkins and Steve Safford call the plays. I never liked a lot of things, but I will support their efforts and PPHS Big Blacks.  (Nov 28, 2013 | post #43)

Bruce, for some it was like when they passed out brains and they thought they said trains and said, "Give me a tiny one that doesn't make any noise."  (Nov 23, 2013 | post #19)

The final score was not all that bad. They did good. I listened to the game. The PPHS Big Blacks are the school I graduated from and I will support their efforts. Great job, Big Blacks.  (Nov 23, 2013 | post #8)

starving horses on 817 next to Billy Cranks Office

Then are you going to handle reporting him or do I still need to call him. If you are going to report him locally, I don't want to call and tip him off or anything. I like him and he has always treated me good, but I can't handle animal abuse especially to larger animals like horses.  (Nov 15, 2013 | post #25)
