Letters to the Editor - Hawaii Editorials

I don't have a problem with fireworks on New Year's Eve - but I do have a problem with the fireworks for the weeks leading UP TO New Year's Eve. You expect to hear the noise one night - but not for weeks in advance. Also, what is the point in the obnoxious BOOM that sounds like a cannon being fired? You're not scaring off evil spirits- you're scaring off innocent children and pets! At any moment I expected a home in my neighborhood to explode. As usual people have taken a good thing and ran it into the ground. I suggest in the future they don't even begin to sell fireworks until after Christmas Day and put a hefty fine on anyone caught setting them off before 9:00 p.m. on New Year's Eve and after 1:00 a.m. on New Year's Day.  (Jan 6, 2010 | post #15)

Hawaii inspired crash victim's art and livelihood - Hawai...

This is truly a tragedy but hopefully others will learn from it. No one expect a young, beautiful, talented, intelligent woman to suffer such a tragic death. Just goes to show it can happen to anyone. Buckle up and if you drink, please don't drive!  (Nov 2, 2009 | post #10)

HGEA workers agree to cuts - Hawaii News

And UH employees are getting more PAID days off. Granted, they have to take a small pay cut but they'll make that up by not having to use gas to drive to work or pay for child care on those additional paid days off. How did they get off so easy when everyone else is taking pay cuts, furlough days, etc.???  (Oct 20, 2009 | post #77)

It's no longer a secret - Hawaii Business

It's not an insult to women! They have very high quality products and not all are designed for 5'9", 110 pound women. I'm excited that I can stop paying for shipping and finally be able to try things on before I buy them! Hopefully Bath and Body Works isn't far behind!!!  (Oct 2, 2009 | post #14)

Doctor says death was near for malnourished 12-year-old -...

The mom testified that she home-schooled the girl because her husband didn't want the girl to go to public school and "talk pidgin and wear slippers". She also claimed she didn't know there were "standards " for home schooling. Sheesh! The poor child will never fully recover but it sounds like she'll still be smarter than the mom!  (Sep 16, 2009 | post #39)

2 Kamehameha boys charged in sexual assault of boarder - ...

Exactly! This has nothing to do with a school or a race. This is a sad story on every level. This poor girl is going to be traumatized and the boys will (hopefully) have this on their conscience forever.  (Sep 3, 2009 | post #118)
