Is this true? 845 BILLION?!! I'm sorry for those in need around the world...but I wonder if anyone has heard the old saying, "you can't help others until you've helped yourself"? We have people losing their homes, who struggle to feed their families, clothe their families, and to just get by with little to nothing...I'm more concerned about my neighbor's child going to school with no winter boots than I am about the poverty in other countries at this point. I AM NOT SAYING THAT HELPING OTHER COUNTRIES IS A BAD IDEA. But out people here are important too and should top the list of people to help. (Tuesday Sep 23 | post #61)

Here's a little background....from my view point of course Embryonic-would come from the fertilized eggs not used for artificial insemination Umbilical-in my opinion the best way to conduct the research as it provides a pure cell with much less controversy Adult-a little too risky for me...adult stem cells aren't completely undifferentiated and run the risk of creating MORE tumors, I'd like to see them stay away from this as it seems creating more tumors is a step back not forward I'm definitely for continuing this type of research...anyone who has a chronic disease has a chance at a better lifestyle if they can get this stuff right! The pill isn't a very good form of birth control on it's own. It's a very sensitive regimen. It can be negated by a high fever, drinking too much of anything especially alcohol, antibiotics, infection, stress (as stress alters hormone levels)and several other factors. A lot of birth controls use hormone regulation to simply keep a women from ovulating....the ovaries go through a four week cycle of developing an oocyte, the birth control stops this. I'm a right to lifer. And I'm completely for birth control...if no fertilization happens, nothing to terminate. HOLLY34, do your research from in a classroom not on the internet...not all right to lifers have sensationalist views or radical ideas for getting rid of abortion. A woman's body is her place, I have no say over what she does with it. I will however encourage the people I know who are for abortion to take every precaution while having sex...an abortion does not only affect the future of a possible life, but it DEFINITELY affects the woman having the abortion. hmm...you think my statement is sexist? Fine whatever. But if you want to pose yourself as a fem, then pay attention to your own statement. Palin will be an asset in the future of America. She is a woman who is a vice presidential candidate. She can now be used as a very good role model for all women out there. I'd say that boosting the self-esteem of women and giving them a very real goal in life is a pretty valuable asset. If you can't see that, I hope that you're a mother to sons and not to daughters.
