Tea partier wrote: "One less person sucking from the government teat" Does anyone else recall last year the Lefty activist who put up a website saying that lefies should impersonate tea party types and infiltrate tea party rallies to say and do things that will make the tea party look bad? Our self-identified "tea partier" sounds like one such lefty who listens to AM-950 "Progressive Radio" (latest ratings 0.4% listener market share. Psychiatrist Sigmund Frued would diagnose "tea partier"'s behavior as "projection ".  (Feb 8, 2011 | post #42)

If you forgot his name, you'll remember his story

Email I sent to Minneapolis police on January 27, 2011 ............. SUBJECT: Low visibility of motorized wheelchairs on streets. ..... .......... I live near Longfellow Park and tend to shop at the Aldi's on Franklin Av. The sidewalk corners are bad for wheelchair/motoriz ed "hoveraround " chairs so they tend to travel on the streets, especially in the Phillips neighborhood. At dusk and at night these are very difficult to see. I obviously don't want to hit on of these with my car. I recall when I was a kid firefighters would put reflective tape on bicycles. Here might be a low cost campaign for some community service group to arrange to prove some reflective tape for these motorized chairs. The tape is cheap and there are some overruns and rejects from DOT standards from makers like 3M. It would make a good media story if some civic minded group took up the cause. Over the longer term there could be a push for reflective standards on all wheelchairs and motorized chairs even though most stay indoors. Reasonable compliance costs would be minimal. probably under $1 per unit.  (Feb 8, 2011 | post #4)

Ark. school official accused of anti-gay screed

Gosh!, I hope they don't try the "wear purple to support gays" around here. There could be some confusion around here (especially if our football Vikings actually start winning a few games! <grin!>.) I would suggest exhibiting gay support by wearing something "Green and Yellow" (Gay!) Hmm! sounds like the football Green Bay Packers attire!  (Oct 27, 2010 | post #2)

Thomas' wife seeks apology from Anita Hill

Brock wrote: "I always Hill thought Hill did it beacuse she didn't agree with Thomas' politics. Liberals can be vicious." ..... A more likely scenario is that Anita Hill was basically duped into thinking there were a group of other women who had made complaints against Clarence Thomas. Hill had somewhat liberal politics but was not overly activist. She basically had a non-tenured teaching job at "Boondocks U". Hill was at the EEOC when Clarence Thomas started there and followed Thomas to the Department of Education, a far larger organisation that Thomas also headed. At DOE Hill had very little contact with Thomas unless she made an appointment to see him. Hill was arguably "nudged out" of DEO and ended up teaching at "Boondocks U" while the fortunes of Thomas and his "entourage " improved dramatically. .... I see this as a bit like the band member that is dropped and then the band hits the big time. Potential for some "sour grapes" there. ....... Nina Totenburg of MPR lead the anti-Thomas fight. Logically they told Hill that this was "one of many complaints" which tricked Hill into thinking that her comments would get minor scrutiny. It is likely that Hill basically said she came to think of Thomas as a "jerk". In DC, Thomas and Hill lived very close to each other. Thomas had a car and a reserves space while Hill had to ride the bus. Hill would often hitch a ride home with Thomas, something you would not normally do if the guy was harassing. At EEOC both were single and the pool of single black professionals was small. After rides home Thomas on several occasions offered to wire up Hills electronic equipment. A date precursor perhaps but plenty of escape room. Thomas reportedly took no for an answer without problem. As for the lurid sex claims, back at "Boondocks U" one local case discussed involved a poster of "Mr. Silver" were a vibrator was left on the pop can of a woman working at a construction site. In the male dominated work like construction posted pornography was common, sort of "marking territory". A poster of "Mr. Silver" was common (faked, but think of a basic knot). The "vibrator " type thing was common to insinuate that the woman at the workplace was either sexually desperate or lesbian. .... Unfortunately, very common back them. Also, anti-porn feminists had their "horror show" so Hill could have picked it up there. Basically we would need the "Totenberg tapes" to see what was originally said but I'll bet they don't exist now. If recorded, Hill was locked in. If she said "oh never-mind". her credibility and career would be destroyed. We currently have something a bit like this with the Minnesota Vikings Brett Farve "sexing" allegations.  (Oct 21, 2010 | post #7)

Thomas' wife seeks apology from Anita Hill

The original accusations came from Susan Hoerchner, a friend of Anita Hill when both lived in Washington DC. Hoerchner was testifying at the confirmation hearings and was about to be asked when Anita Hill told her about the unnamed black male co-worker who was harassing Hill. Hoerchner's lawyers demanded an immediate recess. When she came back Hoerchner "couldn't remember the time of setting when Hill said those things. The "timeline " problem was that Hoerchner left Washington DC six months before Anita Hill ever met Clarence Thomas. In an earlier job, when Horcherner and Hill were DC friends, a black male that Hill worked with was "let go" for sexual harassment behavior. Logically, Hoerchner might have thought that this black man was Clarence Thomas  (Oct 20, 2010 | post #2)
