Jury awards $3.7M in distressed birth

I am a parent of a St Vincent born special needs child that too was not breathing for several minutes after birth, due to stress caused by the doctor and his delay. There is no amount of money that can be awarded to any family or person that has to deal with the challenges in raising a mentally handicapped child and will make life great. Parents of special needs children face obstacles from the very day they find out the diagnois. Insurance cancellations, denied insurance, waiting lists for state and federal help, schooling, and therapy are just a few items that parents have to fight for. Then comes your family and lifestyle. Likelyhood of a divorce is probably 85%. Life as you know prior has just stopped and all activities for both parents and siblings have to be adjusted to meet the needs of the special needs child. So tell me how much my child and life is worth! There is no amount of money that can benefit a family with special needs children and make their life easier. Awards of millions of dollars are great, but it will never give you and your childs life back. I chose not to litigate  (Feb 28, 2008 | post #39)
