Gay Marriage - A Reasonable View

The ceremony of Marriage is, and came into existence because of religion adn religious practices. All of the religions that practice marriage also have the belief that marriage can only be committed to between a mand and a woman. That said, The US Government recognizes marriages to promote family values and to give families a break financially. There are also many other benefits given to married couples; many through spousal insurance programs and not to mention the numerous of societal advantages of being married. The Government gave these benefits to married couples, beacuse when the benefits were enacted, that was the only union in practice. I Propose an Amendment to the constitution that would provide homosexual couples the same exact Government, social, and employer spousal-benefits that are afforded to Married couples. The Government, viewing all of its citizens as equal members, has no right nor power to decide which "types" of couples have such rights. The Government also has no right to tell a Church that they must accept something that goes against a core belief of the congregation. The Church cannot impose its will on the Government and in turn the people, and the People cannot impose their will on the government and in turn the Church. The Church accepting Gay Marriage must be a choice that the Church makes. The Government should create a program equal to marriage, and if liberals feel so strongly about Gays having the right to marriage, then perhaps they would opt to have the "government union" to show their support. For the record, I strongly support gay rights, never go to church, and voted Obama. (Nov 16, 2008 | post #1)

crime statistics by race for those who cry racism...

my point is that the parents of those asian and white "hustlers and gangsters" dont condone when their children act like fools. I saw the other day an african american father and 2 year old son had matching "mob" tatoos across their stomachs. Atleast the father-son bond is there though, right? They'lll be mobsters together forever! so sweet. Im not making it a race thing, as i said its a culture thing. You cant deny the culture Slim, and your asian, white and latino gangster argument doesnt stand up. Show me a "white" neighborhood like out east, show me an asian one like it, i bet you couldnt even find a latino neighborhood like this one. Latinos dont have neighborhoods like that here, and if they do, its because they're mostly illegal and selling drugs is the only way to make money (not promoting it). Slim, do you line in the area of Jacksonville known as "Out East"? I do, and its unlike anything I've ever seen in my life. Its as if the only way they condone of making money is selling coke and crack. If someone gets a legit job, they dont hang out with that person anymore or get mad at the person who got a job cuz "they're never around anymore" and are considered bitches because they arent partying everynight. Theres no value for education. There are first and second graders talking about jumping eachother after school. AND THE PARENTS PROMOTE IT. "Dont let that boy punk you, next time you see him knock his ass out". (Yes, thats a direct quote). Parents dont spend anytime with their children, besides in front of a TV, and curse at their young children then scold the child when he uses those words at school and get in trouble for it. And they dont even really get in trouble for it at school because the teachers are so jaded. The community has obvious and blantant crime problems that cant really be compared with any other part of the city. Not to my knowledge anyways. Its not a race thing, its a culture thing. It just happens to be that only ONE race promotes that kind of culture. And im the FARTHEST thing from a racist, so move right along with that shit. (Sep 27, 2008 | post #127)

the reason people dont find him funny is because you have to have atleast a high school diploma to understand some of the words he uses. GED's just dont cut it, and neither does the certificate from the local Voc. school you got for welding or automotive repairs. Those 3 and four syllable words start to loose meaning in the redneck world. One has to have a general understanding of politics, the economy, world issues and an open mind to be able to find humor in Mr. Maher.
