Is Breastfeeding in Public Indecent and Wrong
UC was what I choose for myself, and it was great! My poor hubby was terrified, certain people kept telling him how dangerous it was, how "at risk" the first labor was likely to be, and so on. I just shook my head, smiled and told him to just wait and see. I had him and my mother attend me. When the birth was over he just kept saying "but that was so easy, why does everyone make such a big deal about it?" But I give birth like a duck swims. ( No offence to women who do have complications or health conditions, I know birth can be very difficult for some, and require medical assistance- I'm just talking about myself here) Ina May's books are a great resource for mothers to be. Lots of info. and "tricks of the trade" so to speak. Speaking of giving birth, sounds like a great book your "gestating "! Can't wait for the birth so I can read it. Good luck:) (Monday Sep 15 | post #5457)

LOL, good point. Don't forget- Cheese is made with rennet. Main Entry: ren·net Pronunciation: \ˈre-n ət\ Function: noun Etymology: Middle English, from Middle English *rennen to cause to coagulate, from Old English gerennan, from ge- together + *rennan to cause to run; akin to Old High German rennen to cause to run, Old English rinnan to run — more at co-, run Date: 15th century 1 a: the contents of the stomach of an unweaned animal and especially a calf b: the lining membrane of a stomach or one of its compartments (as the fourth of a ruminant) used for curdling milk ; also : a preparation of the stomach of animals used for this purpose. I was traumatized for a long time after I was taught how to make cheese. You have to take the stomach of the animal before it's weaned, so basically you have to kill this little baby cow and cut out it's stomach. Then mix the contents with the milk. I did Not take it well when I was a kid. LOL Guess who's a vegetarian now. (Monday Sep 15 | post #5455)

Breastfeeding mothers do not Have the right to do "What ever they want". Any more then you do. I think your confusing breastfeeding with anarchy...somehow. A breastfeeding mother can not grab your child and breastfeed him/her. A breastfeeding mother can not force an adult to nurse. A breastfeeding mother Can breastfeed her own child when that child is hungry. She has the right over her own body and the care of her own child. How is that even remotely "Anything she wants"? Uh, yeah. Like I don't know what a Country Club is. Wow, dude. Just FYI- I live in Hot Springs, Va. about 8 miles from the Homestead, Sam Snead's, the Cascades, etc. Everything here is a Private Club, Private Spa, By Appointment Only Boutique, etc. of one kind or another. Here is my point: You can't just walk into a REAL "upper class upscale" country club off the street and say "Hey, Look at my nice clothes, I want to join." You have to be invited by an existing member of the club. You have to be introduced. You mingle, you chat. Your invited back a couple times to different functions, they meet your spouse and kids. Then you are Offered a membership if your "right" for the club. A random breastfeeding mother looking for a quick bite to eat would not just "end up" eating in a Private Club by accident, due. She would either be a member, be the guest of a member with an understanding of all the club rules, or she would Not be there. (Monday Sep 15 | post #5451)

Yeah for home births! And the Family Bed! I had both my lovelies at home:) It was so very nice... Although my follow up meal...Ahh...y'all don't freak out, OK? My follow up meal was placenta with eggs. It was pretty good actually, and I felt 100% revived after. (Monday Sep 15 | post #5445)

Wait, you have a "Public Private Club"? A Private club that is open to anyone? How does that work? In my own experience Private clubs are just that-Private. They require membership. You can't just walk in off the street and hang out, you must either be a member or the guest of a member to be there. Usually just to get a membership you have to be invited several times by a member, meet with the owners/hosts, and then be offered a membership. While public clubs are open to anyone who pays whatever fee they have, if any. So, what Is a "Public Private Club"? (Monday Sep 15 | post #5324)

Can't tell the difference between Smoking and Breastfeeding? Wow. Here let me help. One is using a drug. One is feeding a baby. See? Here, I'll even give you some examples: You Can't smoke in a hospital. You Can eat in a hospital. It is illegal to Make your kids smoke. It is illegal Not to feed your kids. See the difference yet? Wow, really? Their boobies, nipples and all? So, they just take off their shirts and go at it? LOL. And where is it you see this? Even in places where women Do go completely topless, when they are breastfeeding you can't see the breast the baby is nursing. Usually both breasts are hidden by the nursing child, and they only reappear when the feeding is finished. So, your claim that you see women who are wearing shirts breastfeed with both breast exposed "nipples and all" is quite frankly ludacris. Makes me wonder if you have Ever seen a women breastfeed? You are always so silly Jellybelly! Like I was counting individual buildings or something. LOL. I was not talking about stores or restaurants. I was referring to different States and Countries. More Geographical locations then he has traveled to. I never eat at restaurants. I don't shop at places like Wal-Mart or whatever. When I do go out my children come with me, mostly to community functions or a neighbor's house. My hubby and I do travel, and of course our kids come with us. I never had a problem with breastfeeding where ever I was, no stares or rude comments. I was never asked to leave or cover up. Must be because I was not forced to ride in coach with people like you. LOL. So, no I was never "militant ", what did I have to fight? I am surprised this is even an issue. I do, however, support the right of mothers not to be harassed by classless individuals. Or told they are acting improperly when they choose to feed an infant, where ever they are. My mother used to say "Those who insist on being offended are the same as those who insist on being offensive." (Monday Sep 15 | post #5238)

Yeah, well you may Wish a State Board of Health somewhere agreed with you. To bad not ONE does. Nor the CDC. Nor WHO. All state health boards encourage breastfeeding and inform women of their right to breastfeed in public. If you don't want to discuss the Govs. position then don't bring up gov. agencies. As for "the Board of Health is very strict on sanitation rules", then why do ice machines in restaurants contain more bacteria then the toilets in restaurants? Way to go Health inspectors! I know this is pointless, but what the hey? Which "Board of Health"? Where? All the State Boards of Health RECOMMEND breastfeeding and have programs to educate mothers on their rights, including the right to breastfeed in public. (Sunday Sep 14 | post #5128)

Pseudo-intellectua l? OK, if you say so. I thought I was just a lady on a computer, but I'll go for pseudo-intellectua l. But, if I'm going to keep fooling myself with my pseudo-intellect, I think I'll also fool myself into being a pseudo-millionaire , too. LOL. (Sunday Sep 14 | post #5124)
