Why should the government have to do something about it? They already did... there are crosswalks, there are traffic lights for the pedestrians using the silver comet trail and there are stop signs. It should be common courtesy to PAY ATTENTION while you're driving and abide by the rules of the road which includes pedestrian right-of-way and crosswalks. Of course, that's just too much to ask of some ashholes that should have their licesnes revoked... not just given a warning or a ticket. (May 23, 2007 | post #2)
Wow.. I was pretty shocked by this terrible crime. But, even more so by the many people who are saying things like "burn those kids." I would never have thought of doing something like that, much less posting it for public viewing. That is disgusting. Of course, I think there should be some major disciplinary actions (one of which should NOT INCLUDE contact with animals at an animal shelter), but just the thought or statement of burning a person alive is horrific. I really don't think that kind of thinking is warranted for some kids, even if they did burn a living being to death. It just brings a really horrific and terrible mental image and anyone who suggested such a thing should be ashamed. (May 23, 2007 | post #85)
Don't be jealous of people who rely on computers and simple unformatted rhymes at the expense of degrading and offending police officers, women, poisoning the minds of youth with violent garbage and inciting violence against each other. Maybe it is hard for you to come up with lyrics because you actually take the time to think about it. I commend you, also, for using real instruments. It takes real talent to play a musical instrument well. You are a creator.. all they do is use musical "clipart. " (May 23, 2007 | post #30)
Damn, this thread has to have the most horrific spelling and grammar I have ever seen. The majority of hip hop and rap is extreme. It is horribly violent and degrading to just about everyone living. There is a small minority that have actually released some inspiring lyrics, but they are few and far between. Most of that is also not the number one hits for hip hop and rap, either. As for the lyrical talent of rappers and hop hoppers, I must assume that you are joking. Rhyming words is really not that difficult.. especially when you don't have to follow any kind of grammatically correct format, like poetry. If you can't think of a rhyme yourself, there are plenty of rhyming dictionaries on the internet to help you. I'm sure anybody could write a rap. However, not everybody could have a hit because some of us wouldn't dream of glorifying poppin' a cap in a police officer, or getting on like jungle animals. (May 23, 2007 | post #29)
I know the definition of "lure." (May 22, 2007 | post #3)
"Annual Kids Day festival lures families to S.M. park" I think the title is really messed up. A sexual predator "Lures" people..... a festival draws them together.... (May 21, 2007 | post #1)
Kids actually still want to have sex before they and the other particpant(s) get thoroughly tested? Damn, brave. or incredibly stupid. I'll go with the latter. (May 21, 2007 | post #3)
"Picture this: a school gym, a bunch of elementary school children and a woman literally wearing a target on her body." Sounds like what they should do the teachers that "faked" a gunman attack. (May 21, 2007 | post #3)
I agree.. a good ole fashioned ass whoopin' is one thing.. beating a kid is entirely different. I think public humiliation is a good deterrent for bad behavior. A person should be ashamed and humiliated with the discipline they receive from participating in bad behavior. Time out just doesn't cut it... especially because "DUNCE" caps would probably considered un-PC anyway. The mommas who recently put signs on their kids and made them stand outside of schools and pick up trash with embarassing signs on them are right. A little humiliation can go a long way. Sure wish we could still throw rotten vegetables at inmates. (May 20, 2007 | post #6)
So, after the "hate crimes" legislation passes... just make sure you don't let anyone know exactly why you may have assaulted them. Hate crimes laws are stupid. Crimes are crimes no matter the motivation. What about theft? Should we make rules regarding the varying degrees of theft according to how bad the person needed the objects? I don't condone assaulting and attacking people outside of self-defense. And I surely think that what the offender did here was cowardly. But, I don't believe he should receive harsher discipline because he called them a name when he punched or killed them. If hate crimes are to be.. then I think they should also add charges for offenses against innocent people... cause being attacked is just as devastating to them. (May 19, 2007 | post #74)
My buddy's car broke down, so he was going to ride the bus from Cheatham Hill to 41/East-West. Well, it was so close to the same price for me to drive from my house @ Dallas Hwy/92 to Cheatham Hill and then off to 41/East-West. So, I just picked him up every morning and took him home at night, rather than him riding the bus. Made my commute a little longer, but it was temporary and I didn't mind and the new route I was taking ..although longer distance wise.. proved to be worth it.. traffic was a lot lighter for me every which way. I'm sure pumpin a full tank of gas with the cheapest I can find before Memorial Day Weekend. I was down at Arbor Place the other day and gas sure is cheaper over here closer to Lost Mountain. It was 2.83 at the BP @ 278 & 92 that day.. the cheapest gas I saw in Dville that day was 2.91. But, that racetrac on Floyd Road in Mableton usually has even cheaper gas. My mom-in-law lives over there, so I might be payin' her a visit this week and fillin' up over there. (May 18, 2007 | post #10)
