Lake Calhoun, named for slavery fan, may get new name

This means we are officially out of problems, right? If this is what we are down to burning calories on, then all the important things must have been taken care of. President Jefferson had slaves - should his name be stricken from the history books, too?  (May 20, 2011 | post #56)

United apologizes for reusing 9/11 flight numbers

"The union representing United flight attendants has come out with a statement objecting to the reuse of the numbers." Just another example of the unions making things more complicated than they need to be. Who cares? They're numbers!  (May 18, 2011 | post #8)

Osama Bin Laden: How we got him

Ah yes, another one of the memorable comments. And I can't believe I wouldn't have jumped at the chance to read your other posts. So you rip on Clinton/Bush in one post, then credit them in another? Must be edge-of-your-seat reading from a wordsmith like yourself.  (May 4, 2011 | post #122)

Osama Bin Laden: How we got him

Funny - they got the information because they water-boarded the guy they caught. Nope - it doesn't work. If it doesn't work, then they wouldn't do it.  (May 4, 2011 | post #113)

Osama Bin Laden: How we got him

In the 1st place, don't assume I'm a conservative. Second, I read your comment again: "I think Obama deserves a great deal of respect for the way he handled this. By keeping a small circle of people who knew about the mission he showed intelligence. He didn't run to the UN or ask Pakistan for permission. He just ordered Seal 6 to go get him. He knew about this for 6 months. Obama has guts, which I thought he lacked previously. Clinton and Bush let Bin Laden get away. At Tora Bora, Bush didn't allow the CIA to outflank Bin Laden and get behind him and cut off his retreat. Thus Bin Laden slipped away into Pakistan. Clinton's CIA had him dead to rights a couple times but Clinton didn't let them pull the trigger. Obama made a bold move, the right move. If he can fix the economy by 2012, I'll be voting for him." At which point did you "give both presidents full credit"? You speak of both Clinton's and Bush's failures to apprehend Bin Laden. Are you confusing the meaning the words "credit" and "blame"? I never dis-credited President Obama; I merely questioned your crediting of the credit to him and him primarily. And 3rd, I have never noticed or remembered any of your prior posts, so they couldn't have been as thought-provoking as you apparently believe them to be.  (May 4, 2011 | post #109)

Osama Bin Laden: How we got him

You realize that this is the way every president has handled a situation like this, right? Keep the information limited to a small circle of people - that's standard operating procedure. Also, this operation didn't happen only under Obama's regime. The guy who led them to bin Laden was captured in May of 2005, while Bush was in office. That's right - you're too busy drinking your Obama Kool-Aid to realize that Bush knew about that capture. This was not an Obama effort - this was a US effort, and that includes both the current ans former presidents.  (May 3, 2011 | post #64)

Sources: DNA testing confirms bin Laden death

So they've said they've killed him and already dumped the body? How long before the conspiracy theorists start questioning whether bin Laden is actually dead (if they haven't already)? If they believe that Bush masterminded the WTC destruction (really??), then why wouldn't they believe that there is some sort of cover-up here? Just wondering....  (May 2, 2011 | post #6)
