Corn syrup tax makes good sense
Why stop at "n" when there are twenty-five other very fine letters that most people simply do not understand. For example, a town ending in "Q" would be my first choice if I was going to hate a place. (2 hrs ago | post #13)
Alan Chartock: Pleading poverty, but HE won't take a pay cut!
I've offered on many occasions, but Mr. Chartock refuses to let me become a member. Apparently, something to do with it giving me legal standing, or some such. I can't imagine why he'd be concerned. (2 hrs ago | post #25)
Corn syrup tax makes good sense
Oh good, another tax. Must be another Democrat who thinks regulating human behavior can best be accomplished via the power of government to tax. Mr. Francis, if you don't want to ingest High Fructose Corn Syrup, then I suggest you don't. But don't go advocating yet another tax which will only enrich government further at great cost to the populace. (2 hrs ago | post #12)
So how did the Emperor of Mars happen to land in a backwater dive like Troy, New York. I can't imagine you got much of a reception from city officials in Troy. Shouldn't you have been presenting your diplomatic credentials to the US State Department in DC? Why pick Troy? There aren't even any good Martian restaurants there. (3 hrs ago | post #12)
We're better off than we think
Did I say 76 in Winter? Make that 78! (3 hrs ago | post #39)
We're better off than we think
Not me, pal. I recommend keeping the tank topped-off. Ride around and enjoy life and don't worry about a few extra bucks spent on fuel. In the long run, what the heck difference is it really going to make spending a few extra bucks getting around. As for Winter, crank up the thermostat to 76 and don't complain about the cost. Would you rather be cold? If you can't afford to spend money for heat, move to the South. (3 hrs ago | post #38)
We're better off than we think
I like pansies. They're one of my favorite flowers! Petunias, too. I used to get pansies by the bushelful from the Boston Public Garden after the gardeners there cycled them out for the next planting in the late spring. I'd then plant them in my garden on Beacon Hill. They'll keep blooming til the really hot weather. (3 hrs ago | post #36)
Belated birthday bash for James Taylor at Tanglewood
James Taylor Fan", so if JT is so thoughtful, wonderful, caring and nice, why can't he see his way clear to playing a USO gig for the troops doing the heavy lifting in Iraq and Afghanistan. Where's the fellow's common decency and patriotism? Certainly, it'd be the least a caring entertainer would do, don't you think? (3 hrs ago | post #26)
Rape at Hillcrest Commons......
And if you think Berkshire Health Systems is "not-for-prof it", check out its IRS Form 990. Mr. Phelps took home a cool $520K in Fiscal 2006. SEE: PDF pg. 19: http://www.guidest ar.org/FinDocument s/2006/042/442/200 6-042442944-03515a cc-9.pdf (16 hrs ago | post #12)
Rape at Hillcrest Commons......
Perhaps there's no coverage in The Berkshire Eagle because Hillcrest Commons is part of David Phelps' "not-for-prof it" Berkshire Health Systems empire (that should read: alleged not-for-profit) that includes Berkshire Medical Center, Fairview Hospital, and all sorts of local subsidiaries. SEE: http://www.berkshi rehealthsystems.co m/body_ltc.cfm?id= 46 And we wouldn't want to give Mr. Phelps and his monopoly a bad rap now would we? The subject of senior citizens getting raped makes for distasteful cocktail party or dinner conversation for Mr. Phelps. Economy ruined and war drags on
Alan Chartock, is that you masquerading as "Political Action"? (17 hrs ago | post #175)
We're better off than we think
I suspect that all the naysaying, glass-half-empty types like Berkman here, and Ramdan, and Lides, and that paranoid Publius, and Grandma Sharon Bobby's Mom and on and on, are all desperately in need of some female company (except in Grandma's case, she could desperately use a Socialist guy her own age right about now). C'mon guys, get ahold of yourselves! It's really not as bad as y'all have come to believe. The Sun WILL rise tomorrow! Flowers WILL bloom in the Spring! (Yesterday | post #15)
We're better off than we think
Just for the record, "The Boss" and "Fred" above, both of Chicopee, share the same delusional computer keyboard typist as "SharonMom of Bobby", the grandma who thinks the sky is falling and who thinks it's about to hit her -- and don't we all wish it would! (Yesterday | post #14)
I'm surprised Barack Hussein Obama didn't show up to give a speech about "change" and "hope". Those are all his voters and supporters. (Yesterday | post #15)
Belated birthday bash for James Taylor at Tanglewood
Oh and yeah, JT's 'Tisbury Tours' got $773,976 from BSO the year before. (Poor fellah, must've had to play an extra set that year.) SEE: PDF, pg. 7: http://www.guidest ar.org/FinDocument s/2005/042/103/200 5-042103550-0270b5 11-9.pdf (Yesterday | post #15)
