TDOT worker pulls Knoxville man from car just in time

This has reduced me to tears today. What a truly amazing story to read about. Absolutely uplifting to read something like this considering all the other news out there. Jeff you are a hero. Truly...  (Oct 11, 2007 | post #33)

Former judge says stroke caused accident

The babysitting of the road work is the biggest danger I've seen in a long time. This construction/rerou ting lines/asking for a huge accident with people hurt or killed is terrible. I feel sorry for those doing the babysitting. Can you imagine sitting that long in one of those cars? I can't wait for it to end. As for Judge Inman, it's really sad that he was on the road. I hope his family does better keeping him safe. I'm glad the guy doing his job in the sewer was not killed. He was so lucky. The day it happened the cones were all the notice you had of anyone being there. It was a bad situation from the beginning. I agree that Judge Inman does need his license taken and we do need better testing for the elderly.  (Jul 31, 2007 | post #10)

Hamblen County Sheriff's Department cuts ties with county...

Lisa does have a dog in this fight. Just goes to show that the Humane Society doesn't really do their job. The horse being killed (or having to be put down)is really getting lost in this. And Lisa I have documents naming both of your buddies from 4 years ago. You are making this alot harder on your buddies than you need to. Anyone that knows these guys knows who you are. Your comments will come to bite both you and those you are giving so much detail about. Let it go. There are many at fault in this story. I truly wish someone had stepped up to protect this poor defenseless animal. This is such a terrible terrible thing.  (Jul 11, 2007 | post #48)

Hamblen County Sheriff's Department cuts ties with county...

Lisa, you are very misinformed as I know for a fact that both of the Animal Control Officers I am talking about are both still with the Hamblen County Humane Society. The fact remains Chris and Richard got busted for not doing their jobs and it's about time. And beside the point, the animal should have been followed up with and before it was to late.  (Jul 11, 2007 | post #28)

Hamblen County Sheriff's Department cuts ties with county...

Having lodged a formal complaint myself over 4 years ago on these same animal officers I know for a fact that they do NOT follow through. Maybe this will get enough publicity in the way the Animal Control Officers are controlled. It's sure not what you would think. Find out who their boss is. See that she could care less what they actually do as work. It's a real shame. Investigation all the way for these Animal Control Officers. I'm just glad that we have a Sheriff now that will cut ties with them and make them step up and be accountable for what they are getting paid to do.  (Jul 11, 2007 | post #22)

FROM THE NEWSROOM: Comebacks, changes and readers' commen...

I'm glad we have the comments. Sometimes they aren't very nice and sometimes I will be pretty ashamed of how a thread will start progressing but for the most part I appreciate that we have this feature. Reporting the news with facts is very hard, I think WBIR does this job well. Thank you for all the hardwork.  (Jun 20, 2007 | post #4)

Passengers stranded on Dollywood's "Timber Tower"

I am so ashamed that the posting on this topic has turned into such a mess. If this keeps up you do know that WBIR will not allow posting at all right? And since some of the best information does come from these boards that would be a shame. Stick to the topic for goodness sake. I am very glad that everyone involved was returned to safety. How awful for everyone. But what a good story you have to tell. ;) *just kidding* But you have to admit it was surely pretty interesting and a good story after your feet were safely on the ground. And I bet not a scene you would ever want to be in again.  (Jun 17, 2007 | post #58)

Sevier County teen injured by homemade explosives

I hope this young man still gets to follow his dream somehow. This sounds like such an unfortunate accident. My prayers are with this entire family. It is very interesting that the young man has had so many family members and friend posting here. I, for one, appreciate that. Please know that there are still many people in the world with compassion in their hearts. I hope we are updated on him. He sounds like a real treasure to his family. This is wonderful support and with that support he will carve out a beautiful life despite what has happened. Many prayers...  (May 16, 2007 | post #38)

Teachers stage gunman attack during school trip

A gunman drill? Are you kidding me? Do you know the councelling that adults go through over a situation like this? Can you imagine the fear that a child would have and the problems this would cause? Can you imagine what that would do to a young mind? I am so ashamed of that school system for allowing these teachers to basically get away with this. Unreal...  (May 14, 2007 | post #33)

Parent arrested after allegedly pulling gun at school boa...

I 100% agree with point being made. Unfortunately there will be those that do not see it that way. School safety is so very important. Whether it is Elementary, Middle, High, or College. Safety is one of my biggest concerns as a parent. Wonder if it was a loaded firearm? I sure hope not. It's wrong either way but for her sake I hope she wasn't trying to make a good point without thinking it completely through.  (Apr 24, 2007 | post #3)

Tennessee's oldest resident dies in Maryville

Bless her heart. She lived a long life. I agree these are the treasured people for sure. Is this by chance the lady that was on Live at Five not long ago?  (Apr 9, 2007 | post #4)

Student attack is captured on cell phone video

To whomever asked if I'm a teacher the answer is no and I didn't say all teachers were bad. Good grief. I am quite sure alot of teachers are great. My daughters have wonderful teachers. Not all kids are bad either. My daughter takes her phone to school and is responsible enough to give it to her teacher to be used the proper way after school. You seriously need to read what I wrote. It seems with all that is going on in the school being discussed that the cellphone is the least of their problems.  (Apr 3, 2007 | post #132)
