What are you Thankful for this season?
I'm thankful that I have my mom, dad, father-in-law and mother-in-law with us still. I don't know how much longer any of them will be with us because none of them are in good health. The wonderful thing is, all four of them are friends with each other. That in and of itself is a blessing. Thank You, Lord, for the four people I can call parents. (4 hrs ago | post #12)
You know, kids butts are rounded for the extra padding when it is time for the paddle. (I never used a paddle, but man, where there times!) (4 hrs ago | post #29)
Thanks, Robert. I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We did. This is the first dinner I've cooked in about 15 years and the parents loved not doing all the work. My father-in-law loves cooking and having the family at his house. With his age and health, along with my mom and dad and mother-in-law, they finally let me do the cooking. It's a good thing the turkey wasn't dry! Everything went very well and everyone had a great time. I am so thankful that none of the parents over worked this year. It was good to see and hear them laughing as the food was put out and know that everything was great with them. It is so hard for our parents to let go of the reins sometimes, but from the smiles and relaxed looks on their faces, I think they were glad they let go. (4 hrs ago | post #2)
Tough Love Children Do Better In Life - Positive Parenting News
I had a very good Thanksgiving. My daughter called, my son helped my husband get the dining room ready for company, he even fixed the broccoli casserole. My husband and I raised our kids with love and discipline. There were times when my side of the family thought we were being to 'tough' on them, making them use their manners, stopping them from being 'brats', reminding them to keep their noise level down while inside, stuff like that. And we did spank them when the situation called for it. I have a couple of good young adult kids. (They will always be kids to me.) They work hard for what they need and want. They take care of themselves, help when needed, sometimes even when help isn't needed. They let me know, without reminders or guilt, that they love me and their dad. They are resourceful and wonderful people, and, yes, some of it came from 'tough love'. We also had fun raising them, spent a lot of time with them exploring the world and talking to them. That is one secret a lot of parents don't get. It is a wonderful thing to carry on a conversation with your kids, even young kids. If you haven't ever carried on a conversation WITH your kids, give it a try. They will remember them with fondness and learn how to communicate with others as they grow up. (4 hrs ago | post #8)

Illegal alien burns elderly woman alive, now gets life
In some towns and communities, the police force is working with tied hands. The 'powers that be' have deemed that it is 'profiling' to arrest illegals. In some communities, the police can't even pull one over for breaking traffic laws. It is the district or county prosecutors that choose to prosecute or not. The police arrest, finger print and etc. but they aren't the ones that take them to court. Give me a while and I'll find some of the communities, with names of the people, who don't want illegals prosecuted. (17 hrs ago | post #34)
Thank you. Happy Thanksgiving to you, too, possom. Have a great one. (17 hrs ago | post #31)

Obama may put Americans under world judges' power
Quoted from Wikipedia (a source I don't usually use) "As of October 2009, 110 countries have joined the court, including nearly all of Europe and South America, and roughly half the countries in Africa.[7][8][9] However, these countries only account for a minority of the world's population." Note that this states that the ICC accounts for a MINORITY of the world's population. I noticed on the map of members, that the Russian states are not members. It appears that only Mongolia is a member in that part of the world. How can a legal body provide unbiased judgments on peoples who are not fully represented? (Yesterday | post #56)
Why, thank you, possom. No one really wants to see me pissed. It ain't a pretty picture. People usually find out that I do better with thought and research to prove my point. When I get angry, I kind of loose sense of where I'm trying to take the conversation. I do try not to be enticed to slurs or insults, it just clouds the issues. I've found that once my point is solidly proven, I don't get anymore responses of the negative persuasion. I'm not always right, but I do like facts to back up other people's opinions. Opinions based on facts are more solid than opinions pulled out of the 'air' so to speak. (Yesterday | post #29)
Would you mind asking his mom to let us know if he is okay? There are a lot of people on here that are very concerned. Thanks. (Yesterday | post #53)
