Child struck while riding bike dies

Thoughts and prayers to both families. Please, please, please both drivers and bike riders, be aware of your surroundings. More people are out riding bikes, we all have to be careful.  (Mar 22, 2009 | post #6)

Jury not of peers; new trial for murderer

What's going to be next, if you break the law, the only people who can be on the jury are ones who committed the same crime? Give me a break. I can't believe this is even an issue. What a waste of taxpayers money.  (Sep 25, 2008 | post #60)

1976 prison escapee to be sentenced

How can you people say she didn't break the law for 35 years! She broke the law every day. She drove with out a drivers lic (breaking the law), she stole a SS # (identity theft, breaking a federal law), she filed income taxes using a stolen SS # (again breaking a federal law), and the list goes on. If she didn't get caught she would still be breaking the law. So to say this woman lived the past 35 years as an upstanding citizen is a joke. I don't agree that tax payers money needs to be spent, so the courts/prison should freeze hers and her husbands investments (money invested that was earned using a stolen SS#) and make them pay for the next 5 1/2 years behind bars. The only thing this lady is sorry for is that she got caught.  (Sep 24, 2008 | post #12)

GRPS warns teachers: don't strike

Why would they want to strike? I thought the teachers of GRPS were concerned about kids being in school. Didn't they just today rally to make sure all students were in school today. Where will students be when they strike? Talk about double standards. Maybe if they were concerned about the students everyday they would have their contract. Fire them all, there are a lot of teachers out of work that would love their job.  (Sep 24, 2008 | post #30)

Group wants driving age raised

Just something to think about. When these kids have to log the hours, how many parents pay attention to the hours. I know of a teen who lives down the street and he was bragging to his buddies that he never got the close to the recommended hours. He neede to get his lic. in order to drive back and forth to sports practices because his parents worked and weren't able to drive him. We live in a society where a lot of people think they need to take a pill for every problem they have. How many of these kids are on ADHD meds or anti-depressants because school's, dr.'s and some parents don't want to deal with behaviors. Just a couple thoughts.  (Sep 9, 2008 | post #67)

Liquor clerk sentenced; parents unhappy

THANK YOU!!!!!! After reading some of the posts I had to re-read the story thinking I missed something. I totally agree, why is the store manager even getting 4 days when he had nothing to do with this crime. If he has sold to minors in the past that is a totally different charge and never should of been allowed to get this far with only one witness.  (Sep 5, 2008 | post #59)

AIDS-infected man arrested for not telling sex partners

"Campbell was released from prison last year after serving 15 years for attempted murder". I wonder if he will be charged with attempted murder again. He was messing around with a "deadly weapon".  (Sep 5, 2008 | post #10)

No reason yet for son-dad murder-suicide

You're absolutely right, thanks to NRA and us republicans that give me the right to protect myself from low life scum bags that want to harm me or my family. The difference between me and others (your prob one of them Flanders) is that I know that guns DO NOT kill people, people kill people.  (Sep 2, 2008 | post #13)

Double JJ assets could be auctioned

If you put the charges on a credit card, you might want to call the credit card company and talk to them about a credit back to your account if you cancel.  (Aug 28, 2008 | post #32)

Where is 3 yr. old Caylee Marie Anthony?

The sad thing about this whole story is a precious child is gone, and this crazy scum of a mother will get off. When it comes out that she killed Caylee they will do a psych. eval and show that Casey is not mentally fit to stand trial. Casey is a pro at manipulating people. She'll spend a couple years in a mental hospital then get out. Never being held accountable for her actions. As far as the grandparents, shame on them. They have had this beautiful little girl living with them for three years, knowing full well what their daughter was like (psycho, lier, etc) and they never took legal action to have Caylee removed from her mother. I hope and pray they find this little girl and all parties involved pay for what they have done. Give Casey the death penalty.  (Aug 28, 2008 | post #399)

'Gran Finale' came and went

What a beautiful boat. I agree with Lucy in Rockford, if I had the money, why not enjoy it. Owning a boat like this only helps the economy. According to the Grand Haven Tribune the boat is not owned by Ivan Trump or a celebrity.  (Aug 26, 2008 | post #71)

More than 200,000 kids spanked at school

Wow!!! Reading these posts was like taking a trip down memory lane. Especially KCGR's, the soap in the mouth and scraping it against the teeth. My mom used those paddles that had the ball and rubber band attached to them. She had one in every room of the house, even the mail box. To this day I can't look at one without fear. There is nothing wrong with a qrack on the butt to get a childs attention. Gail in Wyoming your story is to funny, but true. If we got in trouble in school, it was nothing compaired to what we would get at home. I do have to admit, I didn't get the paddle, but did get the ruler on the knuckles for talking. Only got it once, and never made the mistake again. I volunteer a lot at my daughters elementary school, and there are many, many, many kids who could use a good paddle to their bottoms.  (Aug 20, 2008 | post #15)
