Town Supervisor Robert H. Giza: Colecraft Fiasco

On July 21,2003, the Town of Lancaster town board purchased a building at 3949 Walden Ave for $1.63 million for the stated purpose to renovate and house the Lancaster police and courts. The building was purchased from MW Lancaster, Inc, formerly known as Colecraft Manufacturing, Inc. ls it happenstance that a former Vice President of Colecraft was also a sitting member of the Lancaster IDA along with the town supervisor? Since that purchase, other monies have been spent as follows: 2003- Clough Harbour & Associates (CHA) building integrity study - $1,500, Trautman Associates feasibility study-$7,500 ,2AA4- Trautman Assoc. schematic design- $49,500; 2005- CHA study-$14,900, Lobbyist contract-$20,000. In January 2009. a former councilman stated that the town had paid $300,000 in debt service over that 5 year period. On February 1,2A1A, the town board adopted a resolution for an $8,000,000 bond for construction and reconstruction of said building for a police facility. This can be found here on page 1 - http://www.erie.go v/lancaster/pdfs/l egals/legal_020110 .pdf. On April 13, 2011, the town board changed the bond amount to $10,000,000 and the bond's use from reconstruction of 3949 Walden Ave to new construction on town owned property at 525 Pavement Rd. Legal notice http://www.erie.go v/lancaster/pdfs/l egals/legal_041311 .pdf. Before spending the taxpayers' money on the original purchase of the 50 year old building at 3949 Walden Ave, did our town officials fully evaluate the suitability of this real property parcel for a police/court facility before acquiring the property in a cost effeciive manner? This property was not purchased after a process of due diligence. This is faulty governance at its worst. WIVB-TV News4 Buffalo, NY |Contract for Depew roof job?

Brian Lorenc DID NOT set fire to his house on William St. Here's the story from the Lancaster Bee- Man convicted of setting fire that destroyed $500K home A Clarence man has been found guilty of setting a fire that destroyed a $500,000 Lancaster home in 2007. Ricky Bennett, 38, was convicted of third-degree arson and attempted third-degree arson after a one-week trial before State Supreme Court Justice Christopher J. Burns. Bennett, who worked with the home’s owner, Brian Lorenc, was arrested Nov. 5, 2008, after admitting to a friend that he set the house ablaze, according to a witness in the case who did not want to be identified. Police and fire personnel were called around 9:30 p.m. Aug. 15, 2007, to 5528 William St., when a neighbor heard a “whoosh” sound and saw fire coming from the back of the home. Police immediately deemed the blaze suspicious. Bennett also was convicted of trying to set fire to a vehicle in Tonawanda the same day. Sentencing was set for Tuesday, June 8.  (May 12, 2010 | post #116)

Contract for Depew roof job?

This Brian Lorenc, isn't he the same guy whose house on WIlliam St miraculously burnt down last August. Then later was in the paper for writing bad checks. isn't he also the man who worked for Met Life insurance company and got caught ripping people off?  (Sep 7, 2008 | post #1)

I can't believe only 58% think he should resign. If what is alleged is true, he broke a federal law the Mann Act- he paid for the train ticket to transport his prostitute from New York to Washington for the purpose of prostitution.  (Mar 10, 2008 | post #3)
