Minnesota remains awash in red ink, state budget forecast says

Either way the money is just as green. These same people recieve susidized housing, food, free healthcare and for what? The ability to breed and bring more lives into this world that they cannot and will not care for. We must stop encouraging and subsidizing this behavior. In this day and age, with all of the government programs in place, a child showing up without proper food, clothing is unacceptable. Chartge the parents with child abuse/endangerment . No more programs, no more free rides, no more unfettered breeding without consequences. A child in need of food, shelter, housing is not the responsibility of any politician, Republican or Democrat. It is the RESPONSIBILITY of the parents.  (Thursday Dec 3 | post #34)

Minnesota remains awash in red ink, state budget forecast says

A 3.7% shortfall? The solution is real easy. Freeze spending and cut all budgets by 4%. THEN.....begin the process of micro managing the cuts made by each group. For example, k-12 education will be prevented from laying off teachers. Administrations staff, vice principles, curriculum coordinators, etc. UofM and MNScu will be prevented from raising tuition, rather absorb the cuts in the academic elites, chancellors, administration, so-called teaching professionals. eliminate head start programs, its time parents start teaching and taking care of their own children. Centralize welfare benefits to one department. Account for all welfare/charity dollars consumed by the lazy, selfish, dregs who produce nothing but illegitimate kids and fill our jails. set deadlines and enforce them. Cold and hungry is a great motivator. Enforce immigration laws. Prosecute and fine...heavily.... the law breakers. Eliminate all LGA. Mpls and StP have to start paying their own way. Its easy to be DFL when you spend other people's money. The tax paying citizens of this state can no longer carry the burden.  (Thursday Dec 3 | post #26)

Delta executive urges restraint on capacity

This is a "not-so-trans parent" attempt at price fixing. Instead of embracing competition and winning customers over with good service, we have the world's larget airline advocating more of the same abuses to the flying public. With all of the money our gov't has poured into the airline industry, you'd think we could get a little support from our representatives.  (Wednesday Dec 2 | post #4)

Conservatives roar; GOP trembles

Zero Violence? You have the quote "Bending Palin Over" as part of your ID. Given your political views, you must believe that sexual violence aimed at conservative women is a good thing? As to your stoned hippie comment...What did the Grateful Dead fan say when he ran out of dope?.....Hey, what's that chitty music.  (Tuesday Dec 1 | post #396)

The best thing about Midway stadium

Jack Munich, I want a new NFL stadium. Very simply put, I get something in return for my ticket money AND my tax money. I get entertainment AND a hearty thank you. Tough economic times? I've lived in this state for 30 years. In that time I've seen great econmic times. So good, in fact, we invented new ways to spend money. Every year there's a budget crisis. Over half the state budget is directly going towards education with its many labels. they recieve huge budget increases every year and yet its not enough. We get sub standard product and its because they don't have enough money. On the rare occasion that a positive result occurs, we're met with more demand for more money. It never ends. In the last 30 years, I've seen a flood of immigrants come to Minnesota. Some, we owed a debt of gratitude (i.e. Hmong) but others appeared with hand out. I don't recall any one asking me if I wanted to support these people. People move here to run away from crime only to bring more crime with them. They steal food, housing, medical care, education. I call it stealing because we get nothing of value in return. Oh, I know, there will be cries "What about the children?" "We need healthcare?" Blah, Blah, Blah. Guess what, if we don't build it, we'll still hear "What about the children?" "We need healthcare?" Don't build it, fine. No more subsidies for the Guthrie, the Ordway, so called art houses and drop MPR subsidies. Let's demand that that hole in the state we call the University of MN and MNScu go on a real diet. Let's demand that this collection of academic elitist educate OUR kids first. While we're at it, let's hold undergrad tuition flat, I tired of seeing the college kids paying for the egos in the University system. Building a new Vikings stadium will create construction jobs, maintain many full time jobs, deliver untold dollars to local charities and deliver a product that many, if not most Minnesotan enjoy. I proudly state I am a Green Bay fan but I am also a huge football fan and taxpaying Minnesotan and I want a new stadium.  (Wednesday Nov 25 | post #3)

Railroading light rail

Warren A. Olson, I couldn't agree with you more. Here we have 3 entities fully or heavily subsidized by the tax payer. Instead of looking for quick easy solutions, they bicker like kids in the playground. Any solution will cost more in redesign, right of way and time. We hade a similar issue in Farmington dealing with our new shiny high school. After sneaking in a referendum for the new high school, the city and the school board began bickering about the placement of the new school. In the end, after 2 years of delays and a lot of money going to lawyers arguing both sides of the arguments at tax payer expense, we got less school. Who paid in the end? My wife and I and every other tax payer in Farmington. I wish I had a kid that will attend the new shrine to ED MN. Who benefited????  (Tuesday Nov 24 | post #9)

Lifelong dividends

Where on earth did you get that number? How many of those 44,000 people would have died anyway? You do realize that is over 16 million people in one year. Jeez, based on that figure in three years there will be no more uninsured people to worry about. Sounds like there won't be any illegal aliens here either. Healthcare is a personal responsibility, not a right. A personal responsibility such as food, clothing and housing. I can see where you think Big Government should step in and rescue the wayward souls that don't have insurance since we already give away free food, clothing and housing. Oh wait, those people already get free healthcare. And to those that don't get free healthcare, I'm supposed to feel some moral obligation to support them? This healthcare reform was supposed to be an attempt to reign in skyrocketing healthcare costs. Instead, it has become another Big Government giveaway to people who provide nothing in return. New taxes are being floated, most of which tax healthcare deliverers and the tax paying public. A number of suggestions have been made that will reduce costs such as eliminate Intrastate insurance control, wholesale torte reform, mandate reductions in Administrative costs and address end of life options. Healthcare will go the way of education. We won't make it better for everyone willing to work for it. We will dumb it down to the least common denominator to make it "fairer" .  (Tuesday Nov 24 | post #35)

Lifelong dividends

Boy, you guys are hitting it on the head this time. However, this is not the first trial balloon that was floated. A few weeks back there was a similar report and recommendation for Prostate exams and PSL levels. I think the reason this is getting so much publicity now is because breast cancer advocates (i.e. survivors, family) are a very active group. A lot of fund raising and publicity for early detection. In any event, this is how healthcare will be rationed. We won't start looking problems until its too late. There won't be death panels. Someone will have to die in order to establish a family history of the disease in question and then the appeals process to break with protocol will begin.  (Thursday Nov 19 | post #6)

Bachmann accused of misusing Web site to promote D.C. rally aga...

I noticed throughout your entire post, there was no reference to her stance on healthcare. You don't bother to challenge her statements, her views or why she pulled this rally together for the topic at hand. Further, you go on to label her as crazy and a lunatic. You make, what is quite possibly the most disgusting, sexist remarks. As to your "hate" comments, if my belief is that YOU should pay for your own healthcare makes me a hater, I can live with that. I think you are afraid of strong women. I think you would wilt in their presence and further you lack the intellectual capacity to debate her on the topic at hand. I can't tell if there is some Freundian complex in play or maybe a variation on an Oedepus complex. I will wager that true progressives everywhere are reading your posts and saying, OUT LOUD, "Get off my side." You bring nothing to the debate and your chilish rants prove that the gov't will always bear the responsibility for the least of us.  (Thursday Nov 19 | post #28)

Amateur ball needs a new home

What you have stated is absolutely correct, terrorism is not the exclusive domain of religious fanatics. However, in this case, the terroristic act was done in the name of Islam. Mellers, Please note I never stated that Muslims are terrorists. I would state that if I were a Muslim, I would be outraged by the fact that this man and numerous Imams have twisted my beliefs to match their perverse quest for power.  (Thursday Nov 19 | post #19)

Bachmann accused of misusing Web site to promote D.C. rally aga...

"CREW Executive Director Melanie Sloan said the complaint revolves around the use of public money to promote a political position. "When a member misuses their official Web site for this kind of rallying troops for legislation, we the taxpayers are paying for it," Sloan said. "This was clearly political." " Let's see, a group of like minded individuals protest against a bill being considered in Congress. Yup, that's political and that's how the system works.  (Wednesday Nov 18 | post #9)
