So you think I'm a liberal.

Oh my! How inflammatory of youTo late. The above has already formed my opinion. Welcome to my worldI don't. I've never given up in my life. We are limited to 4,000 characters in these posts and I didn't feel the need or believe anyone had the interest in knowing how my current plans are panning out. As it stands however, even though it's taken around ten years I see daylight at the end of the tunnelIf you had actually given about ten minutes thought to your own question and possibly done a little research you would already have the answer. The majority that suddenly and unexpectedly becoming disabled haven't had the time to build their own safety net and therefore must depend on Gov sponsored benefits. There are zero programs that will assist the disabled in retraining at a new trade in order to become self sufficient once more. It's all on the disabled and with very little resources open to them it's unlikely to happenAlready responded to. See aboveActually I have to keep my weight 30 pounds under in order to walk unaided. Thx so much for comparing me to people such as Stephen Hawking. We should all be as bright as he is. Thanks for recognizing that the Gov lends a hand in keeping the disabled trapped. Thx for basing an assumption of me when you had less than 4,000 characters to base that assumption on. Last but not least, thx for lumping the majority of disabled into the category of expecting others to take care of them. I would encourage you to educate yourself as to exactly what options are open to the disabled to include reasonable education that would allow them to become self sufficient once more. Keep in mind, it normally takes something the disabled don't have. Money. Also keep in mind not everyone is capable of heroic actions regardless of your opinion of them. Feel good stories are nice to read but welcome to the real world. Not everyone is a feel good hero.  (Nov 28, 2013 | post #6)

Barack Obama

So who's really at fault here?

Paul Ryan and these other same failed Congressmen have been on tv constantly chanting the lie that they were guilty of ... the lie that "President Obama's policies undermine the US Economy." Paul Ryan and the Republicans in Congress refused to negotiate or even discuss passing President Obama's American Jobs Act that independent economists claim would create 1.3 million new jobs. Paul Ryan and Republicans blocked President Obama's 2012 Anti-Outsourcing Bill - which is a Bill to discourage the outsourcing of American jobs. Naturally, journalists in India celebrated GOP efforts to undermine American Workers. The Washington Post reported that Republicans have made it clear that the Federal Reserve would face fierce Republican criticism if it takes further actions to stimulate the economy before the election. The Washington Post wrote that, Republicans... have expressed deep concern about measures taken by the Fed to support the economy -- and could be doubly upset if new efforts goose the stock market and are perceived to work in favor of President Obama's re-election. Under Article III, Section 3, of the Constitution: "If a subversive act has any tendency to weaken the power of the United States to attack or resist its enemies, aid and comfort has been given to enemies." The GOP has waged literal war on the U.S. in order to, for wahatever reason to discredit Obama and the Democratic party. It isn't Obama with his "tyranny " undermining America or any "failed policies". The undermining of the radical GOP side of the aisle has not only brought a screeching hault to any significant recovery but it has also caused significant harm to millions of Americans. I defy anyone to deny the facts I've posted in these two posts. I defy anyone to say the radical GOP has shown any inclination whatsoever to cooperate in a bipartisan fashion to aid in America's recovery. I defy anyone to say that the GOP is not responsible for the lions share for our current woes and last but not least I defy anyone to say the Obama administration has not made legitimate efforts to help this country recover in a bipartisan manner.  (Nov 28, 2013 | post #2)

I don't pop in here much.

Allow me this. I made a post but dunno if it will post. It was an entirely different thread than this at any rate but I gotta reply to you on this one. Without knowing me you're assuming I'm a lib. Shame on you because you read what you wanted into my words and ASSUMED. Firstly, I'm a Viet Nam vet and rest assured I'll shoot your a$$ or that of anyone else proving I support stand your ground if I feel it's necessary. Guns aren't the problem. The problem is there is nothing to control the lunatics that at times get ahold of guns. I said I support the IDEA of the NSA etc.I did NOT say I supported them in their entirety. At this point in time imho NSA should be torn apart and a new black board brought in. I don't buy into the theory guys with box cutters took down the WTC but lunatics could get into this country. Hell, Mexicans get in all the time. As for Obamacare and social programs; I've paid for FICA since 1969. I fell 30 feet from a pipe rack in 2006. My knee's, back and left wrist are shot. I'm almost 60. No one no where is going to hire me for anything more than a feel good job. This isn't an assumption on my part since I've been looking since 2006. I can't make a living off of a feel good job. You might say that I'm not someone you're referring to as a leech. Doesn't matter. Regardless of what you're reading in the tabloids Congress believes a teaspoonful of dirt has more value than I do. At least on the Republicans side anyway. The only avenues available for people such as myself are these social programs that I personally have paid into since 1969 and people such as yourself have allowed yourselves to be convinced people such as myself are dragging our economy down. Please. If people such as yourselves honestly and truly believe this, then by all means begin the extermination process. Rest assured there is one Viet Nam vet that is armed and will shoot back. Been there, done that and willing to do it again. I'm not going away and neither are the people who choose to not view the world through the end of their private little coke bottle. You want people like me off of social programs? Then help people like me come up with a program that allows us to re-enter the work force in some fashion that isn't a nickle and dime feel good job that still requires us to be on SNAP and medicaid/medicare. Oh yeah. All of you could stand to lose the coke bottle you look through that forces each of you to only consider how certain circumstances only affect you which allows you to say screw the rest of the world.  (Oct 21, 2013 | post #10)

So you think I'm a liberal.

I'm only speaking for myself, not anyone else! I freely admit I cannot stand the t-partiers even though I'm a previous member when they were first,,,created? I guess is the proper word to use. I don't post in the Jacksonville forum much because I got sick of reading remarks I considered ignorant and cruel in another Topix forum where I relocated from. I will post however when a venting moment is required from watching CNN. Here's a news break regarding myself. I can't stand radical liberals either. For the radical conservatives first: I have zero choice but to support socialized programs so yeah, I'll blast the chit out of anyone attacking them. I've paid taxes since 1969 which of course includes FICA. I've NEVER been unemployed since I started working at age 14. I of course didn't start paying taxes until age 16 in 1969. In 2006 I fell some 30 feet from a pipe rack. As a consequence at times I have to walk with a cane. My back doesn't allow me to pick up much more than a sack of groceries and as far as labor goes I'm essentially one handed because there is nothing in my left wrist except scar tissue. I not only paid my taxes, I spent 5 years during the Viet Nam era doing as I was dam well told to do and have an honorable discharge. And radicals in Congress along with so many who voted them into office seem to believe a tea spoon of dirt has more value than I do. Many of you will say,,, "But! But! We're not talking about people like you!" Yes my frends you ARE! There has not been one single solitary bill offered up for debate that offered to do anything more than CUT the benefits I paid all those years for. If you honestly believe I'm living on easy street, by all means come stand in my shoes for just one single month. More than one day a week my evening meal is Raman noodles. I don't own the red neck toys like 4-wheelers. Hell, I can't ride one anyway. My back won't allow it. I don't collect SNAP because I make to much but not quite enough to live above the poverty line. Society has deemed me disabled and by all accounts labor wise they are correct. That and my age as well as experience in anything beyond making paper for a living prevents me from doing anything else for a liveable income. There are zero avenues available for me to learn another trade. Many of you will chant "there are plenty of jobs available to be had" even for someone like me. I'm telling you you're full of chit and I think you know you're lying. SSDI and nedicaid are my lifelines. I depend on them and disabled or not, I'll fight for them. Some of you may say I should have planned for this to happen. Screw you too. Are you planning for a drastic accident to happen to you in your late 40's? As for the libs, no, I do NOT want someone in here wiping my a$$ when I haven't even farted. I DO NOT want to be on SSDI or medicaid. I WANT an avenue created that allows me to be self sufficient. But no one in Congress is looking at that aspect nor as of yet have I seen any of the Obama haters or anyone else suggesting an avenue such as that. If any of you believe an avenue such as that exists, well, you're full of chit. I have looked until I was tired of looking and then I started making phone calls until my ears bled. I'm still looking! All that exists in that area is for someone already in business to make money by trying to tell me I shouldn't feel sorry for myself. I can't make a living from a feel good program! One more for the libs. Guns aren't the problem. The problem is no one has anything for the lunatics that get ahold of guns. Try and take my gun from my hand and you'll find you might have pist off another lunatic with a gun. I'm a firm supporter of stand your ground and believe it is my right to stand my ground and yeah, I WILL shoot your a$$! Viet Nam remember? P.S. I don't want your pity. I want an avenue that allows me to be self sufficient once more. Self sufficient doesn't include things like SNAP or medicaid/medicare.  (Oct 21, 2013 | post #1)

How many other Republicans admitted Obama was an American and not born in Kenya, Zimbabwe, Eastern Mars or Western Venus? Afaik, he's the only one and that's an honorable thing to do. It's true he is admitting that what is occuring in the House at this point in time is not good for the Republicans. I agree, it isn't. But for me to remain totally honest, I don't agree with Democrats 100% of the time either thus the Republicans opinion is important to me also and hopefully a balance is had. Case in point, gun control. Removing guns from the hands of law abiding citizens does absolutely nothing to contain or control the whack jobs that use them to cause harm to innocent citizens. Regardless of a liberals point of view, guns serve a useful purpose and yes, the purpose is totally from a lethal standpoint in my point of view. I completely and totally disagree with having an NSA. That one single law has removed far more Freedom for citizens than any other law ever passed and it appears to be fully supported by both sides. Billons have been earmarked to finish building an NSA headquarters and the majority of the people oppose the NSA. Evidently both sides support the NSA. One more. I support the intention behind the ACA, not the entire Bill. What is now law isn't perfect but it's better than having nothing for many and can always be improved upon rather than out right stripped. Btw, is anyone aware that the Heritage Foundation laid the ground work for the ACA? That's a Republican think tank if anyone isn't aware of who they are.  (Oct 1, 2013 | post #3)

I don't pop in here much.

There's no real reason to. It's always the same ol' same ol'. The only reason I'm popping in now is because I had to share an AHA! moment. I've come to the conclusion that the radical conservatives are among those considered as clinically pathological and are only elected to office because they are capable of having a few and limited number of lucid moments where they are only stupid. Then again, they are a Democrats wet dream and best friend. They ensure that fewer Republicans will be elected to office. Now that's one thing I agree with John McCain on. I shouldn't be to hard on Mr. McCain. I have to admit, for a Republican, he's at least an honorable man. He just needs to learn to reason past the moment is all. Something else that has occured to me. Conservatives hate change. Dunno why but they do and if you'll look it up, it's part of the definition for conservative. Ever wonder if a conservatives wife has a boring life when the lights go out at night? Talk about a lack of variety. "But dear, it's always worked for me doing it this way before and I see know reason to change things now after all these years." OY! It's either laugh, cry or climb a water tower with a high powered rifle. Maybe that's why some factions in Congress fight so hard for gun control. Some of us are done crying and have started laughing in a maniacal manner.  (Sep 30, 2013 | post #1)

How to Fix America?

This and the rest you had posted] I don't buy any of that hoopla. Asking Congress to vote on a pig in a poke? Right. Then again, Congress had admitted many members vote when they had the material to read and never turned the first pageI know who they are. The Republicans kept sceaming death panels. To a large extent, they themselves already had them in many Republican states such as Texas, Louisiana, Alabama and Arkansas to name a few. Ask anyone who receives medicaid in those statesAnswer me this. Med care has been going through the roof long before Obama came to office. Boatloads had absolutely nothing. He's the first to actually try and do anything meaningful about the prob. If he had tried to socialize it completely, well, you know the answer to that. To keep capitalism in the pic, he takes control of the rules insurance dictates. He doesn't force insurance to take on those that can't pay anything. Still, it's going to cost insurance big time. Why make them foot the entire bill? Taxes have to come into play to help ease the pain. He tried. No one else has. No one else offered up an answer. No one else suggested anything beyond assassination, impeachment, born in Africa bullchit. It was pretty evident no one else gave a chit about med care and the uninsured. What is your answer to the problem? I myself don't have one. The Republicans answer is to do away with social programs period. Dems want to increase them. It seems irrelevant what is put to the table, people will bitch about it. Arguments for and against Obamacare have already been hashed over time and again. Neither your nor I have offered up anything new or unknown. It's here and it's pretty obvious it isn't going anywhere any time soon. doesn't matter if you or I hate it, we're going to have to live with it for the time being.  (Sep 3, 2013 | post #972)

How to Fix America?

Because they fall under the same laws as corps that pay no taxes. They simply don't have enough of an income to qualify to pay taxes. It's ok that huge corps make huge profits and don't pay taxes as well as get refunds but not ok for poor folks that may be doing everything in their power to survive? I'm not going to argue the rest because no matter how I type it even I read it as an insult and I refuse to do that.  (Sep 3, 2013 | post #963)

How to Fix America?

What fluffWhose fault is that? The document was posted online and left there for all to read before it came to a vote. Who asked the Reps to scream about death panels? Who asked the people to only believe what they were told? The dammed thing wasn't and endless ream of paper filled with words. I read it end to end in about 15 minutes and understood every wordNonsense. The Supreme court declared it legal and if anything was done illegally our elected reps are more than free to bring charges,,,, yet they don't. Now why is thatApples and oranges Kevin. Group plans differ from individual plans and it was the individual plans that people were being refused and/or kicked off of for having the audacity to get sick. When I was forcibly retired I was offered Cobra. The plan would have only covered myself, not my family. They wanted 800 a month for it. My SSDI hadn't kicked in and they knew my retirement after 30 years was only 700 a monthOh come on Kevin. From your own link - "government health programs would eat up 9.6 percent to 10.4 percent of the nation¬ís gross domestic product by 2037". First that's only a projection based on current events/circumstanc es. We can't predict the future with any accuracy because events and circumstances change by the minute. It's also 24 years in the future and of course, based on history prices will increase. Here's a link regarding health care cost increases 24 years in the past. http://www.nytimes .com/1989/01/01/ny region/health-care -costs-rise-and-wo rkers-are-paying.h tml?pagewanted=all &src=pm health care costs increased 20 - 30%  (Sep 3, 2013 | post #962)

How to Fix America?

Only 40% of the public votes Kevin. I can't buy that there are enough people collecting benefits and voted solely based on the fact they're collecting benefitsDam skippy we need it. So why do we keep voting the exact same factions into office? One side only wants to increase benefits and the other side only wants to end them. That isn't reform. That doesn't even remotely look like reformThere's no accurate way to know those numbershttp://www. roanen.com/1/post/ 2012/04/how-much-i s-welfare-fraud-co sting-us.html This next one is in Los Angeles. Note the number of people sent to the DA annually for prosecution. https://dpss.lacou nty.gov/dpss/fraud We're both in agreement on reform. You yourself stated Dems use the social programs for votes, or try to. What do you think a conservative is doing when they say they want to cut social programs? They're casting for votes. Increasing/decreas ing services isn't reformIndeed. It was created and meant as a helping hand during the depression. Conservatives had moose sized kittens over it then and still are. I know. Benefits didn't last forever then and shouldn't now. But go back and look at the LA link you asked for. Out of 30,000 - 40,000 cases there are on an average of 1,000 cases of fraud serious enough to send to the D.A. Would you like to know what the cases are probably are that aren't sent to the D.A.? Probably something along the lines of an unmarried man and woman cohabitating and not reporting it because their benefits would be cut.  (Sep 3, 2013 | post #959)
