Syria - the lies being told

@Rusty Tin Can: I'm Muslim. and Islam makes sense to me at least (lotsa lotsa people will disagree.) I don't know how big Muslim baggage is but let me tell you from personal experience i was growing up and trying my best to be a practicing Muslim like all other kids when suddenly 9/11 happened. 2 years of serious contemplation and non-islamic behavior followed coupled with teenage and frustration to see how people calling themselves Muslims could cheat lie abuse slave and kill other people in the name of Islam. and specifically how they can keep the 5 prayers and beard (the beard some kind of sign of piousness and not really necessary) and at the same time they can do every ungodly thing there's to think of. Later, i found a logic that made it much easier. 1- Islam essentially is a peaceful religion. 2- It doesn't contradict Judaism or Christianity. to the contrary if you don't believe in Judaism and Christianity and Moses and Abraham and Jesus Christ you can't be a believer in Islam. 3- The people responsible for the horrific 9/11 are not Muslims , not human for that matter. 4- People in the west are prejudiced against Arabs and Muslims by nature ever since Islam was born so it's okay and i need to practice my religion the way it's supposed to be practiced by Prophet Muhammad before sunni and shiite and all that. just "be the light for others and make'em believe in God" (WHY by Will Smith which helped me at the time) their God a God that makes sense to them. So after all that being said, I don't wanna know if my baggage is heavy to drop cuz i'm not dropping it. I'm comfy with Islam and the version of "Truth" I see through it. Truth is out there. you could say that again. And i had this conversation before when i studied Criticism and Western Philosophy in college. There's absolutely no ONE version of truth.  (Nov 2, 2012 | post #2681)

I know all of you out there are used to anti-Assad pictures but they never show you the other side of the coin who are also human and more representative of the Syrian people because the Syrian army has soldiers of all sects. not like the jihadists. http://www.faceboo k.com/photo.php?fb id=467980023252752 &set=a.4672359 33327161.117789.46 6966713354083& type=1&ref=nf  (Nov 2, 2012 | post #2678)

@Rusty Tin Can : I agree with you. "people are either born with certain worldview, or indoctrinated early on by the worldview." and by default this is true about religion, life, study, work, food, politics and everything else. It seems to me you can never know when you right about something. And nobody or doctrine or religion has all the answers. @orion: Given the choice nobody likes to die much less to die for someone else or some entity. That's where propaganda comes in handy. You lead people. The less they argue the better. The less info they have the better. So the best way to fight back is to read all news. Listen to all channels as much as feasible. See it all and believe nothing and make up your own thoughts. If i was to give in to the propaganda against Assad here i'd be in the so-called free syrian army. But i don't intend to as long as i have a choice and an alternative.  (Nov 2, 2012 | post #2677)

Syria - the lies being told

Okay (lan tahdi man ahbabt inna Allah yahdi man yasha') -"Didn't your asad kill 40,000 Syrians" -very exaggerated number and your forgetting how many army officers and scientists and civilians were slain at the hands of the "FSA" -"Didn't he destroy 'Aleppo''one f the ancient cities in the world' and it's bazaar and also the Amoui Mosque" -I'm from aleppo if you can't tell. The "FSA" burned the entire bazaar on purpose including my brother's shop so you can blame Assad. - "Didn't he destroy most of Syria? Isn't Homs besieged" - Of course it will be when it has jihadists and terrorists inside it. BTW like Aleppo most civilians fled or were killed by your FSA. -"aren't the iranians fighting beside asad" - No, they aren't. If you have proof send it to me. - "were' those who defected from syrian governments , officers, soldiers, politicians, Syrians or from other country?" - Yes they were. And reasons very but mostly they are fifth column and they want to jump ship the same ship they were the cause of its plague -"Those who fight asad 'FSA' are they Syrian or other nationality ?" -some syrian and some libyans and afghans and saudis there was even one female dutch sniper. -"Those who rotested and sang in the streets 'Syria wants freedom' were they Syrians or aliens from space" - Syrians. And every single demand they have will be met if only they drop arms and come to talks under UN observation.  (Nov 2, 2012 | post #2661)

Syria - the lies being told

The essential difference between us and i should end with this is : I don't think he's to blame for what's happening in Syria. I blame those who are getting armed to fight a proxy war on behalf of world powers. A lesson that is ever present in Arab history is how we lost our Andalusia . When we fell into factions and sought foreign aid against our countrymen. History is there for a reason. I just hope my countrymen will learn this lesson sometime in 2013  (Nov 2, 2012 | post #2657)
