Jindal: "I've learned my lesson"
I love how many resigned yesterday so that their finances would be made public. I think Jindal did the right thing. He did the thing he said he would do when he was elected to office. It's about time we held people accountable. There are still some legislators who are very upset and said that they lost all confidence in Jindal. They need to be removed from their legislative positions, immediately. (Tuesday Jul 1 | post #11)
Recall petition filed against Gov. Bobby Jindal
They are laughing at this right now. Jindal and his group know what it will take to gather the required amount of signatures in 6 months and they think that it can't be done so they are not worried one bit. We need to make them worry. They all need a wakeup call. (Sunday Jun 29 | post #2)
Jindal: "I've learned my lesson"
Also, if you don't think Congress is out of touch with reality. These people live in million dollar homes with maids and bulters yet they are making decisions for the middle class Americans? They don't care about gas prices. They could afford to pay $10 a gallon which would then be passed off to the American people because they are driving back and forth to congressional sessions. Congress has the lowest approval rating in history but all I hear in the current election is that it is all President Bush's fault. It's really OUR fault for electing everyone currently in Congress and the white house. Blame yourselves for going along with a broken system. We are cattle and they are the ranchers. They do not live our lives or have do battle our battles yet they tell us how to live and when to fight. We need to wake up as a people. Limit central government and turn power back over to the states which is what our founding fathers wanted. If you don't wake up soon, American will only have one state and it will include Canada and Mexico in an effort to strenthen the American dollar which is what Europe did. Government will do this without even mentioning it to the American public (Saturday Jun 28 | post #6)
Jindal: "I've learned my lesson"
All politicians lie. That is nothing new to the American public. They say what they have to say to get elected. Just as Barack Obama and McCain are doing now. Don't believe for a second that what they say comes out of their mouth or mind, it's written for them by their "handlers " It's time we put the fear back into politicians and this veto vote will do it. We have to veto at least a couple of members to show that the people are serious and that politicians will face a terrible price when they do not listen to their constituants. People called and wrote to their legislators asking and begging them not to go through with the pay raise increase. That it was to much and not the right time. These legislators should be working for the people but they basically all gave us the middle finger and voted for the pay raise. Sure, people need an increase in pay. I know money is not handed to me at my job and I can't go to the bank and just take it out just because I think I deserve it. I have to work for my pay raises as they are based on merit. It is also a full time job for me where these legislators are part time positions. They now make more in a part time job than most of the middle class in Louisiana do in a full time job. Louisiana is last is just about every other catagory except the pay of their legislators. They want to brag about what they passed while in session but I went through them all and most are stupid. If you want to brag, go through the other thousands of Louisana laws and remove or rewrite them. Adding new laws on top of laws just paves the way for more lawyers and politicians and loopholes. We are like a bunch of children under most of these laws which were made because people no longer have common sense and they sue for everything after which some idiot judge awards them millions which then requires a new law. If you do not see that the legal system, government system, court systems are broken, then you are blind to the world. When 4 out of 9 supreme court justices vote against allowing people to have a gun in their home for protection (which is in the constitution) then you know we are heading down the wrong path. One more liberal judge on the supreme court would mean that they would start rewriting the constitution and you, the people, would start losing your basic rights as an Amercian citizen. It's time to send a message to Congress, the Supreme Court, and all politicians that they work for the Amercian people. We shouldn't fear them, they should fear us. Btw, there is a quote from V for Vendetta, the movie, that about this that is true. "People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people." Watch the movie, that is what we are headed to. Dictatorship. (Saturday Jun 28 | post #5)
White House threatens veto of foreclosure rescue
Thank you. This is exactly right. We are leaning towards being the dumbest country in the world with everyone relying on the government to tell them when and how to breath. Allowing these lending corporations to scam the american public is one thing and those are not the ones being bailed out. I've been looking to buy a home for over a year now but I'm not going to rush out and spend over my limit just because credit is available. Are we also going to bail out all these people who maxed out their credit cards just because they had available credit and spent it? Also, keep in mind that the money they use to bail out these people are the tax payers money. (Friday Jun 20 | post #137)
White House threatens veto of foreclosure rescue
How stupid can some of you be? Blaming Bush for not standing up for the middle class americans? Have any if you idiots actually read the bill and know what all it includes? Probably not, just the same old ignorant comments that continue to split this country down the middle. The government is worried about bailing out the financial institutions. If the bill has anything to do with the working middle class americans, it is to TAKE TAX PAYERS MONEY AND GIVE IT TO FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS AND THOSE WHO TOOK OUT THESE BAD LOANS TO BEGIN WITH. I'm sorry, but I work hard for my money and I don't pay taxes to bail out these idiots who didn't read their load paperwork. When you parents told you that if something is too good to be true, it's probably false, these loans were a prime example. We've got to be the dumbest nation in the world. Wake up people! I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR OTHER PEOPLE'S MISTAKES! How does Congress have the right to take the money that I paid in taxes and bail out these million dollar lending corporations. Wake up people and educate yourselves in these bills before you start bashing people. (Friday Jun 20 | post #116)
It is pretty hard to boycott gasoline which is just one of many products of crude oil. As I said above, even an additional refinery would help reduce the price of gas at the pump. The article is correct and I've been knowing for a while now that most stations receive their fuel from the same local distribution hub. The same tanker truck will stop by most all stations in smaller towns whether it's Shell, Exxon, Texaco, etc. OPEC is just an oligopoly who is not subject to the US monopoly laws. Even though, higher taxes or fines will just have them raise the prices even higher. Also, you better believe that most politicians have stakes/stocks in these large Oil Companies are receiving big kick backs and incentives with these recorded record high profits. (Jun 10, 2008 | post #8)
You have all the countries of the world competing for these barrels of oil coming out of Saudi. If we started drilling more in the US and using our own resources instead of depending on foreign oil, the price of oil would drop to 25-40 dollars a barrel. Not only do we need crude oil but we need a way to refine it into gasoline. It would take about 10 years to build new refineries with current legislation. The government put so much red tape in place that it would cost to much and take to long to build a new refineries so not only do we need to start using our own natural resouces, we need to lift some of these regulations to allow new refineries to be built ASAP. People need to get it through their thick skulls that we need to drill more in the US. We have tons of oil deposits here. Why is there so much drilling off of the cost of Louisiana and Mississippi but no drilling off of the cost of any other states? Government doesn't allow it but then again, this in Louisiana and Mississippi do not get any special tax cuts for drilling on their cost lines. These people makes the laws make 6 and 7 figure incomes so trust me when I say that the cost of gas is not hurting them. They pretend to care because their constituents are complaining. Until the tax paying middle class push for more drilling in the US, it will never happen. This is only short term as we do and can research for better energy alternatives, something big oil and big automotive doesn't want to happen but once we stop having to depend on foreign oil, we will start saving trillions and have the ability to put some of that into true alternative fuel research and not that research done specifically by big automotive/big oil for big automotive/big oil. Jury: 11 minutes for conviction, 26 minutes for death sentence
More death penalties need to be handed out. We are doing nothing to detur crime and our jails are full. Multiple life sentenses is a joke. Maybe a death penalty should be televised as a message to those who would kill without a second thought. (Jun 8, 2008 | post #2)
Wow, I like how Bush single handedly brought us to war. I also like how the Republicans are to blame for everything wrong in this country. Please educate yourself before you start bashing people. Are the Democrates the savior of the world? I think not. Its time we stop with Democrates versus Republicans and red versus blue. It's time we stop with career politians who are so far out of touch with the working class americans. People want change? Try changing out every single politician to start. If they had a fear of being replaced at in particular time because of doing a pour job, they would actually do what is right. If I don't do my job, I get fired. The same should happen to every politician. They should be working for us but they end up working above us. (Jun 7, 2008 | post #2)
U.S. court: currency discriminates against the blind
They are saying that it would cost close to 50 billion to change over the the federal part in order to print this different type of money. It's not that I don't want to make it easier for blind people but what percentage of the population are we talking about? Everything can be considered discrination towards another person or group. It really depends who screams the loudest and longest. Doesn't the blind currently get free scanners from the government to scan their money to tell what denomination it is? There has to be a more cost effective way to make it easier for the blind to determine the denomination of a bill. Pay attention, I said EASIER because at the current time, they are using paper money in financial transactions. Hell, a debit card would be optimal. If you think different color and sized money will deter people from trying to cheat money out of blind people, you are wrong. Next, it will be a requirement to have brail labels on department store clothing, canned goods, cash register receipts. If you are going to have or formulate a plan, THINK about it and how it will play out futher down the road. Btw, having to redesign and redistribute this new currency in the US would be a good way for the government to impliment the NAU (North America Union). I can't wait for obese people to start suing fast food entities and winning. (May 21, 2008 | post #304)
La. House OKs $10 million N.O. private schools bill
Shouldn't they spend the 10 million on making the public schools better so that they don't have to move "select" children to private schools? (May 16, 2008 | post #1)
Jena 6 Mychal Bell Claims Beating was Victim's Fault
Another ignorant poster who wants to be heard but doesn't know or wants to know the facts. It wasn't even a student that was involved in the fight at the party in which you are referring to "But a black boy was beaten too, but no ones in jail for that". And YES, he was arrested and charged. Was the punishment harsh for that one incident? Maybe so but you couple that with the previous incidents involving Bell LIKE THE FACT THAT HE DISLOCATD HIS GIRLFIENDS EYE FROM HER EYE SOCKET AND BRUISED 2 OF HER RIBS and I believe that his temper was going to lead to him seriously injuring the person he was beating or him killing them in a fit of rage. These kids are not your normal kids who just happened to get into an altercation. These are thugs who intimidate and beat the fear into those who they just don't like. Also, please let the noose issue go. 5 white boys beating a black boy = hate crime. 5 black boys beating a white boy = justice for the hanging of a noose? The sooner people stop blaming everyone else for their crimes and the sooner great punishments are involked on those who commit crimes, the sooner crime will be deterred Some of you sheepeople need to educate yourselves and stop being followers. Jindal cautious on issue of teacher pay raises

Jindal cautious on issue of teacher pay raises
If that's how you feel, fight to have teachers salaries based on the merit system. Just like any other working position, each teacher would be evaluated at the end of a school year and their raise will be according to to their rank from the evaluation. Maybe they should be paid like college professors. As long as teachers fight for a flat pay increase across the board, they will never have my support. Not until I see them fighting for something else other than a pay increase. I've never seen them strike for anything else but a pay increase.... see the pattern here? (May 8, 2008 | post #69)
