Obama climate push to tie environment, jobs: White House ...

Instead of funding research to make oil and coal use cleaner, or to develop clean alternative fuels, the oil and coal industries are fund research they hope will confuse the public debate. By financing and publicizing the tiny (and shrinking) minority of scientists who disagree with the consensus that man-made climate change is a real and imminent threat, companies that profit from pollution hope to create the illusion that there is scientific controversy. As with the tobacco industry, the ultimate price of this disinformation campaign will be human death and suffering. http://plainhonest truth.blogspot.com /2011/11/dirty-mon ey-fuels-climate-c hange-denial.html  (Jan 24, 2013 | post #3)

Obama climate push to tie environment, jobs: White House ...

The overwhelming majority of climate scientists agree that human activity causes or contributes to climate change. The deniers are funded by the fossil fuel industry and use the same tactics the tobacco companies used to confuse consumers about the dangers of smoking. http://plainhonest truth.blogspot.com /2012/12/will-wind -energy-be-killed- by-dirty.html  (Jan 24, 2013 | post #2)

The first priority must be phasing out coal power plants. Coal is cheaper than wind or solar only becasue the health care and environmental costs of coal are passed on to the public. http://plainhonest truth.blogspot.com /2012/04/lets-kill -coal-before-coal- kills-us.html  (Jan 11, 2013 | post #2)

How do the climate change deniers get their message out? The oil and coal industries, which create greenhouse emissions, have a well-financed propaganda machine aimed at casting doubt on the overwhelming scientific consensus about man-made climate change. The oil & coal companies used the same tactics the tobacco industry used to create public doubt about the dangers of smoking. http://plainhonest truth.blogspot.com /2011/11/dirty-mon ey-fuels-climate-c hange-denial.html  (Jan 11, 2013 | post #1)

Dewhurst Wants Teacher Gun Training

I know a lot of teachers. They're stressed out and underpaid. Arming them makes as much sense as arming postal workers.  (Jan 11, 2013 | post #1)

What's up with the $1 trillion coin?

From Marketwatch: "The 2009 fiscal year, which Republicans count as part of Obama’s legacy, began four months before Obama moved into the White House. The major spending decisions in the 2009 fiscal year were made by George W. Bush and the previous Congress. Like a relief pitcher who comes into the game with the bases loaded, Obama came in with a budget in place that called for spending to increase by hundreds of billions of dollars in response to the worst economic and financial calamity in generations. • In fiscal 2010 (the first Obama budget) spending fell 1.8% to $3.46 trillion. • In fiscal 2011, spending rose 4.3% to $3.60 trillion. • In fiscal 2012, spending is set to rise 0.7% to $3.63 trillion, according to the Congressional Budget Office’s estimate of the budget that was agreed to last August. • Finally in fiscal 2013 — the final budget of Obama’s term — spending is scheduled to fall 1.3% to $3.58 trillion" http://articles.ma rketwatch.com/2012 -05-22/commentary/ 31802270_1_spendin g-federal-budget-d runken-sailor  (Jan 11, 2013 | post #57)

Only Congress can spend money. Raising the debt ceiling does not authorize more spending; it authorizes borrrowing to pay for spending that your Republican Congress already voted for.  (Jan 11, 2013 | post #7)

Romney makes late pushes in battleground states

America under Obama has been called the "one bright spot" in the global economy. Romney & the GOP want to go back to policies that are already proven to FAIL. On every issue from the auto bailout to going after bin Laden in Pakistan, Obama has been consistently right; Romney has been consistently wrong (except on the issues where Mitt’s flip-flopped; then he's only wrong half the time). http://plainhonest truth.blogspot.com /2012/10/osama-bin -laden-is-dead-and -general.html  (Nov 4, 2012 | post #1)

President Obama’s critics often expose their ignorance by referring to him as a Marxist ort a Socialist. Congressman Ron Paul set the record straight when he said, “In the technical sense, in the economic definition, he is not a socialist.”  (Nov 3, 2012 | post #43)

Reminder: You can't believe anything Romney says. The only time he's told the truth this past year was at a private fundraiser with his fellow millionaires when he didn't know he was being recorded. There Mitt, the millionaire's son who had every imaginable advnatage in life, revealed his contempt for the poor. http://www.youtube .com/watch?v=slFZ8 K2aBoY  (Nov 3, 2012 | post #1)

Reminder: 11 voter suppression laws passed by Republicans in various states (including PA, OH, FL & WI) have been struck down by the courts as unconstitutional. In the 1950s & 60s, the GOP stood for civil liberties and voting rights.
