Town Budget and Taxes

I recently looked into the budgets of several towns and after about 6 months of training, I can read them ok. I have discovered that most towns are run very poorly and the taxes we pay can actually be redued substantially. For example, when towns have a vacancy in their positions due to retiring, the budget never gets reduced by their salary. This is done on purpose because towns although under fiduciary duties, don't reduced their budgets even when they have a surplus. In the local area of Aberdeen,Keansburg , Hazlet and Matawan, there is tremondous waste going on at tax payer's expense and the only way around this is for folks to get out in large numbers to a town meeting. The bond debt is absolutely horrible and can cause your already high taxes to soar and the town really doesn't care whether you can afford it.  (Jun 11, 2011 | post #1)

Gene Tanala, BOE of Howell.

Oops, I spelled Democrat wrong, sorry about that folks, my keyboard is not typing spaces well and my fingers were tired. Anyway, as I said, let's not judge someone by their party but by their deeds. Go Gene go.  (Apr 11, 2011 | post #2)

Gene Tanala, BOE of Howell.

I am a member of a Monmouth County Tea Party group and I want people to know our group appreciates and supports Gene Tanala of the Howell Board of Education. We don't cater to party and instead we are bound by principle, this is why we support Gene a democrate. Gene doesn't care about party either he just cares about getting the board of ed finances in order and for the last 10 years has steadily reduced the waste and fraud caused by the last board of ed members whom by the way were republican. I also want folks to know we do support republicans like John Curely, Tom Arnone and of course our Sheriff Shaun Golden. We have supported these candidates because they are good public servants. So I ask that the people in Howell please support Gene so he can continue to fight for good education and lower taxes, something not easily performed in our state. Frank  (Apr 11, 2011 | post #1)

A New Game for NJ, Citizens Convention-The Battle For Tre...

Folks, many citizens are having a patriot convention in East Windsor this Saturday April 16th where many tea party and patriot citizens are meeting to get flip Trenton. If you go to www.thebattlefortr you can see the workshops and details of the event. Both parties have sold us out. Governor Christie wants us to give him control of Trenton so he can push his toolkit. I say let's vote for an independent that way we get someone that will just dothe right thing. The dems had their chance, sorry, high taxes, illegal immigration and the attacks on our liberties are too high. I am hoping tax payers and folks that understand our rights are being taken away as we pay more taxes, come to to support this first historic tea party convention at the National Conference Center this Saturday. Fourteen towns will ask voters to raise taxes above 2 per...

I am really sick of these towns. First they refund which is another term to refinance bonds and with no voter approval. They vote themselves raises. When the school budgets are voted down, they vote for them anyway. Now they got the nerve to even think we are going to approve tax increaes. Hey my family and friends moved out of NJ, maybe these politicians, code enforcement officers, cops, chief of police (hey O'Hare of Keansburg) should move out.  (Apr 11, 2011 | post #3)

Brookdale College Cronies Demand More From Us

The high paid folks at Brookdale community college operate on a 100,000,000 million dollar budget that saw a 6 percent cut of 6 million. Yet when you do the math, the tuition needed to overcome that amount would have to be increased 8.2%. So basically $6,000,0000 is 8% or the total tuition making tuition revenue approximately 6,000,000/.08= $75,000,000. So what the high paid folks at Brookdale are telling us is that their intake of $175,000,000 minimum isn't cutting it? Well why is that? Does it have anything to do with the president's $216,000 plus salary and in addition he receives benys like a country club allowance, $18,000 for housing, $27,000 for a car. No one pays my living expense! HOW MANY MORE CORNIES ARE ON THE GRAVY TRAIN AT OUR EXPENSE! It is time to audit all the county offices not just Brookdale and funnel this money back to home owners and businesses. If we don't start pushing the corruption out you will lose your homes to higher taxes because the cronies at Brookdale and elsewhere. Join a tea party, make a phone call, otherwise you will be priced out of your home.  (Feb 21, 2011 | post #1)

Queensbury, NY

Queensbury getting out of hand

Folks, really, again another onslaught of building, on route 9 and Bay avenue we have new banks. Then we have the massive structure for social services added to the Warren County Complex off 9. The writing is on the wall, the politicians are in bed with developers and we are going to pay the price in higher taxes, crime, pollution, traffic congestion, another Long Island deal. I suggest we start a tea party or use the topix forum to get people mobilized. ONce the land is used up, it we are done and it is already too much. I say a moratorium on building. And if any Queensbury officials harrass any citizens for working on their homes, then that will have to be addressed.  (Apr 8, 2010 | post #12)

What do you think of Queensbury and over-development?

I know there is a "master plan" for our county, but being from NJ and seeing all the development in Queensbury,it reminds me of what happen in central NJ, it got crowded real fast, taxes went up, and I had to deal with traffic lights, higher insurance, and quality of life went down. I see the same think happening here in Queensbury. Who gave our government to create this so called master plan with all these hotels, stores, and why haven't I seen my taxes go down?  (Jun 18, 2009 | post #1)

Rottweiler fatally shot after charging at Middletown cop

I think the monmouth county folks are all in together on this. It doesn't make sense that the police officer went into the yard to instigate the attack on him and the police can't explain this away. They won't initiat an investigation into this action unless people start to file complaints. Keep in mind that this is a property rights and civil rights issue that the family had the police trespass on their property and were not in pursuit of this dog. They didn't see it loose and the dog never came out to the front of property but the police went to the dog and as dogs do, it charged them. I wonder if the reporter from the APP will followup.  (Jun 10, 2009 | post #5)

Congress Moves to Implement Nonsensical Data Retention Law

YOu see what is happening here is that citizens are getting smarter via the Internet. So like the gun owners (with the new Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sale Act of 2009) it hinders our freedom on the Internet. So now you won't know about stealth bills, you won't have advocacy groups alert you and allow you documented emails to your congressman or senator. It's all about hindering our freedom. We should all be sticking up for one another weather it's free speech, gun rights, religion, free assembly; since we don't stand together on these issues we are being picked apart and soon without Interent access. Why doesn't the congress pass a law that allows us to see their email lists, their bank accounts, their minutes meetings?  (Feb 24, 2009 | post #47)

McCarthy knocks Gillibrand as choice for Senate

I am not a fan of Gilibrand but we should call her and support her conservative views, I've seen many conservatives pressured into being liberal. Kirstin can be a good public servant if she stands by her convictions and of course, if she acquires more political savy and experience. Kirstin was lucky to get into congress, she beat Sweeney a few years back because of the anti-Republican wave. I also don't like what Ill and NY is doing replacing Obama and Clinton with a black and female, what is this crap a quota? This is no different than what Blago did, sell out the senate seat based on incentives and not basing it on the merits of the candidate.  (Jan 23, 2009 | post #82)

Lawmakers pressure feds over NJ's dolphins

I think this is an example of big wasteful government. I also believe its an attack on citizens, why? Because if we go to feed them or help them we can be arrested, now I tell you, does this make you wanna close down NOAA? It's sick.  (Jan 9, 2009 | post #3)
