New Generic Lexapro

Steven , good to hear that you are fine It is actually scary to read that so many people are experiencing such bad "side affects". It is confusing and could become a dangerous situation. Still so many doctors and pharmacist make you feel like it is your imagination. I think that is criminal. Just can't understand why this is not investigated further. I keep up with the postings on this forum, just waiting for the day that someone reports they have found a company that produces a generic substitute that performs as it should; & doesn't make you feel even worse than you originally did. sending you good wishes. fran  (Jul 24, 2013 | post #657)

New Generic Lexapro

Best of luck to you. My husband was forced to use the generic lexapro by insurance. He had previously taken the brand successfully for over 7 yrs. After taking the generic for about a week he started to experience so many bad side effects. He was miserable and so was every one around him. We had to fight the insurance to be able to get the brand at a higher co-pay for over 3 months. His life was literally in the toilet. After many phone calls, and letters, and having the doctor make 3 calls and submit written proof, did they finally approve the brand name. After taking the original brand name again, within 10 days he began to feel better and we all noticed the difference. After a month he is back to himself. And contrary to much controversy, changing to generic lexapro was the ONLY different change in his life during this awful time. So many hundreds and hundreds of people have been adversly affected; and still the issue is ignored. I even phoned in complaints to Forest Lab and the FDA. My hope for you and all that have had this issue is to realize it is NOT your imagination....the generic can be horrible. Hope you can be well. fran  (Jul 14, 2013 | post #650)

New Generic Lexapro

Hi, I am a little confused by your reply, you say the generic lexapro is " sitting untouched ". Have you used any.? What is your observation or experience with the West-ward brand?? Have you had any actual use? Thanks. fran  (Jun 25, 2013 | post #642)

New Generic Lexapro

Steven how are you doing at this time? Hope that you are back on track with the brand name Lexapro. Just curious if you have found relief of your trouble now that you are back on the brand.  (Jun 10, 2013 | post #629)

New Generic Lexapro

Funny, but many people think feeling bouts of sadness or depression are the same as clinical depression. Really people, do you think I like the idea of HAVING to take medication daily in order to have the same quality of life that you take for granted? Or even want to fit the cost in my budget. There Is proof that there is a chemical imbalance, and certain medication can be of benefit to keep our lives " normal". Unless you have ever been clinically depressed you can't begin to guess how paraylzing it can be. Then there is that wonderful day you find the medication that works for you, and it is like there is sunshine in your life again. I am SO tired of having to fight long distance with someone that doesn't know me and I will never see, because their opinion is based on some half-assed data, and they can refuse to honor an appeal.  (Apr 19, 2013 | post #597)

So you actually went through the appeal process and achieved success? Happy for you. We are still waiting to find out how our appeal will turn out with Express-scripts administered thru Tri-Care. We have been put through the wringer for over 3 months. Doesn't matter that you have no quality of life. In theory I don't have any objections to using generic medication, BUT the generic Lexapro is NOT the same. Why the heck are there over 500 responses to this topic??? Think we don' t have anything better to do?  (Apr 18, 2013 | post #595)

Bull. If it is so simplistic as " mind over matter", may I suggest you give up both of the medications that you are taking and just THINK yourself h a p p y .  (Apr 18, 2013 | post #594)

New Generic Lexapro

Hi thanks for info on Vibyrd, will keep that in mind. It is just that the Lexapro was working so well so many, many years. We have made numerous return visits to our physician for this matter. Even when it was indicated on the RX, " brand name medically necessary" or D.A.W. our insurance company refused to honor it. We are now gathering more personal documentation that has to be submitted for an " appeal" for Brand over generic. They will give us a decision within 30 days, this is AFTER 2 rejections we have already received. For gosh sakes you think we are begging for HEROIN! I have made some calls and registered info about adverse reactions for the generic. I will also now send an e-mail to the source that you suggested above. Thanks for helping and understanding. It all just gets to be so senseless and frustrating. fg  (Apr 18, 2013 | post #593)

Just a shout out to you Laura ..... Hey good for you on starting to feel better. Totally understand and agree with you. You find a medication that helps you with this whole complicated depression thing and it gets taken away. You are re-assured that the generic is " identical", so you begin to doubt yourself when life starts to go south. I had an acquaintance who suggested to " just choose or decide to be happy". I wanted to tell her, well that is just brilliant ...... Why didn't I think of that? Sort of like telling a diabetic, don't use your insulin, just use your mind to control the blood sugar level. Simple huh? Yeah, I just love being clinically depressed, what a great way to live day after day; year after year. sorry, just felt the need to be heard.  (Apr 18, 2013 | post #592)

Mind over matter", are you serious? I'd be curious to see how you would feel or operate in your day to day life WITHOUT your generic Xanax. Go ahead and give it a try, after all just give it the old "mind over matter" test. Waiting to hear how that will work out for you!  (Apr 18, 2013 | post #591)

Can you direct me further as to where, or to whom best to write concerning this problem? I googled GOA, and not sure where to address this concern. Thanks for any help. Happy to find any direction you are able to provide. fran  (Apr 12, 2013 | post #588)
