I agree (except the losers part)we don't know what these people contribute to charity, if they earned the money its theirs, its free enterprise, something our country was based on. Plus these people pay a lot of taxes that also helps "fund the poor", so nc casting of stones!  (May 11, 2009 | post #24)

Couple who lost everything respond to slope law failure

Well put, The quest for the view and having the best site is crazy, worse too is the damage to the mountains. Many year ago a relative who is a scientist said that the biggest issue the mountains will face is the building on the slopes, landslides, etc. which will change the mountains themselves forever, removing soil down to rock, water runoff and so much more. Its once again about personal responsibility, the very people who want to save our wilderness do the most damage. I have a lovely piece of family land in a valley, it safe to build on and beautiful.  (May 11, 2009 | post #15)

Ski resorts, whitewater rafting industry seek legal shield

I agree that there are a lot of attorneys that would not like the change. And the risk is there...its time we cut down on frivolous law suits. When I have rafted on the Occcoee and Nantahala the guides were wonderful.  (May 11, 2009 | post #12)

Slope building regulations won't go forward

You are right, a few can make it bad for the hardworking individuals. Also, I agree with you about building on the slopes...there should be regs to make building as safe as possible.  (May 6, 2009 | post #6)

Can't fathom anyone objecting to 'Choose Life' message

No, the real point should be that if you believe a fetus is a child and not a bunch of cells...then having an abortion is killing a child. A child who would be born, grow up, be like your children. It is a moral issue. Is that important to everyone, no, but to those of us who believe that a fetus is a child, it is important and it is murder.  (May 5, 2009 | post #30)

Pastors struggle with how to help in economic slump

You're right, no one is exempt for suffering, and part of a pastors job is to work with those in need, whether they be from the church or not. Most churches have funds for emergencies, food banks. Lots of them work to help feed the homeless. We do what we can with what we have.  (May 5, 2009 | post #17)

Pastors struggle with how to help in economic slump

You are kidding right? You must not be involved with a church, cause that is way off base....my husband the pastor works no less than 50 hours a week and he is on call 24/7 when needed.  (May 5, 2009 | post #15)

Universal health care lowers quality of care and is not free

So we pass it on to the taxpayer? If the government cant manage social security and medicare why do we think they are the answer for everything? Revamping does not have to be takeover.  (May 1, 2009 | post #27)

Universal health care lowers quality of care and is not free

Good comment. Everyone keeps saying free health care, that is absurd. with 85% of us insured we need to take a look at the others. Are they insured by medicaid, medicare? We pay for that. If we think our taxes are high now just wait...when every person can get healthcare for free at the taxpayers expense you wont be able to see a doctor. My cousin in England often tells me about the UK and the fact that you might wait 6 months for open heart surgery, or so long that your condition is untreatable...just like anything else there is not one simple answer, universal health care is not it. Reform to medicaid and medicare maybe....  (May 1, 2009 | post #26)

Unit assists domestic violence victims

That does happen, but there are alot of reasons for that, I hope with more advocates these women will have the courage to walk away and help with the issues of why they stay. Its pretty complicated, but unless you have been abused its hard to understand. Best to all those trying to help!  (May 1, 2009 | post #3)
