i agree........you will find that most people on the left and the right are much closer to the middle than it appears. how many of us want some sanity in our energy policies? how many of us want the debt paid and trade inbalances balanced? how many of us want the illegal imigration problem solved? i would say it would be the great majority, wouldn't you? one thing is for sure............th e people that hate america revel in our division. those that would love to see america fall just love the way we go at each other here. somehow they think it makes them stronger. who would you have write policies? experts on the subject or a bunch of legislators that know nothing of the subject they are legislating on? as for your rant on bolivia, bechtel only had a contract to administer the water system of cochabamba and it was the local jurisdiction that raised the rates, not bechtel. the deaths were caused by police, not bechtel. all this other rot is what you have gotten from anti-capitalist groups. anyways......the company lost the contract (actually it was withdrawn by the government). and the ensuing lawsuit granted 30 cents to bechtel and its international partners. edo_bg: osama didn't get his degree in public administration from university of jeddah until 1981. last time i looked at a map of the world....jeddah was still located in saudi arabia. he then moved to peshawar, which is still in pakistan today, he joined up with an old professor from his days in college and organized a group called the maktab-al-khadamat (mak) in 1984 to fight the russians. osama was not known as a fighter but was, in fact, a fund raiser for the fighting arm of the group. he also helped develop the system by which foreign fighters entered afganistan through the khyber pass. he was not a fighter but funneled funds and arms to the fighters from pakistan. he also has no ties to the cia.......never has except for being one of the top wanted criminals on their list today. look.....if you want to debate with me.....at the very least familiarize yourself with the basic knowledge required....otherw ise....all i'm doing here is schooling you. if you want lessons in facts and hsitory....i charge by the hour. i know the history of iran....probably better than you. i spent time there in the 1970's. the shah of iran was the head of state of iran. he was the head of state of iran since 1941. i contend, as well as many historians, that it was mosadegh that attempted to overthrow the shah through violent means. as head of state the shah was also the keeper of the iranian constitution and as head of state the shah was able to, legally, fire the prime minister (mossadegh) and the whole majlis (parliament) if he desired. do you know how mossaadegh came to be? his predecessor was assassinated by khalil tahmasebi who was a member of the militant group called the fadayan-e-islam. what the shah did at that time has only been called a coup since 1979-1980 when it was advantageous to call it that for the islamic revolution that eventually took place. mossadegh was a patriot, i'll grant that, but he committed a number of mistakes which caused him to threaten the sovereignty of the constitution. what simplistic things you may think you know about iran are merely kid's play for me. care to debate further? as you can see i am quite knowledgeable on the history of iran. i could go on for hours if you care to listen. actually during the afgan war against the russians..osama was attending college in jeddah. osama was a fund raiser for the mujahideen and not a fighter. and most certainly had no contact with the cia. saddam had some support from the u.s. in the form of intelligence and some funding, but all of his weapons were of soviet, french design. since when has america fielded t-70/t-80 mbts, bmps, mirage fighter bombers and mig 27's?
