Ocean Warming Speeds Up Cycle of Climate Change

So it's clouds that are causing the oceans to hold heat energy. Not CO2. Wouldn't those same clouds that cause the ocean to hold heat energy, prevent heat energy from the sun from reaching the ocean? How cloudy does it have to be to cause retention of heat energy in the ocean? If you see one cloud in a blue sky and it's moving with the wind how much impact does it have? Or does it only have impact when there is dense cloud cover? How much of the ocean would have to be cloud covered? More importantly, how do we tax cloud formation?  (Jan 18, 2015 | post #12)

Global Warming

2014 was Earth's warmest year

According to GISS, it's warmed up .03*C since 1998. Let's take a look. 2010 the warmest year on record as compared to the 12 months ending November 2014. The blue areas indicate where 2014 was cooler than 2010 and the red areas where 2014 was warmer. Be sure to scroll down to the graph below the graphic. http://data.giss.n asa.gov/cgi-bin/gi stemp/nmaps.cgi?sa t=4&sst=3& type=anoms&mea n_gen=1212&yea r1=2014&year2= 2014&base1=201 0&base2=2010 &radius=250 &pol=rob 2014 was .01*C warmer. But global warming, not so much. 2005 was the second warmest year ever. http://data.giss.n asa.gov/cgi-bin/gi stemp/nmaps.cgi?sa t=4&sst=3& type=anoms&mea n_gen=1212&yea r1=2014&year2= 2014&base1=200 5&base2=2005 &radius=250 &pol=rob 1998 the third warmest year ever. http://data.giss.n asa.gov/cgi-bin/gi stemp/nmaps.cgi?sa t=4&sst=3& type=anoms&mea n_gen=1212&yea r1=2014&year2= 2014&base1=199 8&base2=1998 &radius=250 &pol=rob Yes, 2014 was warmer by .03*C over 1998 as averaged from all the temperatures in the world over 12 months time and compared to an anomaly based static value. Statistically, totally irrelevant and unreliable. But it does make good headlines!  (Jan 11, 2015 | post #15)

Ocean Warming Speeds Up Cycle of Climate Change

It would be better if you would look at what you post before you post it. The original graph from Levitus et al 2012 is statistically deficient. The NOAA additions are no more credible. Ocean warming is a real climate maker, in fact the major climate maker. It just isn't happening at this time because the oceans are 'warmed' by the sun. Not the ambient temperature of the air above it.  (Jan 11, 2015 | post #9)

Ocean Warming Speeds Up Cycle of Climate Change

True statement. If the oceans warm, the climate will warm. Ocean warming is not being observed. http://data.giss.n asa.gov/cgi-bin/gi stemp/nmaps.cgi?sa t=-1&sst=3 &type=anoms &mean_gen=1212 &year1=2014 &year2=2014 &base1=1979 &base2=2013 &radius=250 &pol=rob http://data.giss.n asa.gov/cgi-bin/gi stemp/nmaps.cgi?sa t=-1&sst=3 &type=anoms &mean_gen=1212 &year1=2014 &year2=2014 &base1=1989 &base2=2013 &radius=250 &pol=rob http://data.giss.n asa.gov/cgi-bin/gi stemp/nmaps.cgi?sa t=-1&sst=3 &type=anoms &mean_gen=1212 &year1=2014 &year2=2014 &base1=1999 &base2=2013 &radius=250 &pol=rob http://data.giss.n asa.gov/cgi-bin/gi stemp/nmaps.cgi?sa t=-1&sst=3 &type=anoms &mean_gen=1212 &year1=2014 &year2=2014 &base1=2009 &base2=2013 &radius=250 &pol=rob Even GISS indicates ocean warming is negligible and decreasing in the period of global warming. It's the sun. Decreased energy from the sun, decreases the heat gain by the oceans.  (Jan 10, 2015 | post #2)

Here's what he said http://www.eurekal ert.org/pub_releas es/2014-11/uoh-woe 111314.php GISS doesn't agree. http://data.giss.n asa.gov/cgi-bin/gi stemp/nmaps.cgi?sa t=-1&sst=3 &type=anoms &mean_gen=1203 &year1=2013 &year2=2014 &base1=1998 &base2=1998 &radius=250 &pol=pol http://data.giss.n asa.gov/cgi-bin/gi stemp/nmaps.cgi?sa t=-1&sst=3 &type=anoms &mean_gen=0303 &year1=2014 &year2=2014 &base1=1998 &base2=1998 &radius=250 &pol=pol He could be right about last summer, .05*C warmer than 1998 http://data.giss.n asa.gov/cgi-bin/gi stemp/nmaps.cgi?sa t=-1&sst=3 &type=anoms &mean_gen=0303 &year1=2014 &year2=2014 &base1=1998 &base2=1998 &radius=250 &pol=pol But only if you want to homogenize all those temps from 70% of the earth's surface into a single variable of .05*C http://data.giss.n asa.gov/cgi-bin/gi stemp/nmaps.cgi?sa t=-1&sst=3 &type=anoms &mean_gen=0603 &year1=2014 &year2=2014 &base1=1998 &base2=1998 &radius=250 &pol=reg Kinda like saying global warming has stopped because the eastern half of the US is cold. heck it was 29*F where I live yesterday morning.  (Nov 14, 2014 | post #12)

The sun is also doing something the AGW scientists did not expect, it's out of sync with itself. Scientists thought that when the sun hit it's max and started the flip it would happen at the same time in both the southern and northern hemispheres. It isn't working out that way. Very few spots are left in the NH but activity still remains in the SH. http://www.solen.i nfo/solar/images/c ycle24.png Scientists were hoping for a second max caused by the SH activity. Not looking to hopeful for that event.  (Oct 6, 2013 | post #5)

Here Comes the Sun: Global Warming and the Perversion of ...

NASA and NOAA got it wrong when it came to predicting solar activity. http://origin-ars. els-cdn.com/conten t/image/1-s2.0-S13 64682612000351-gr4 .jpg Why? because they were convinced that solar output didn't vary much. They also believed that there was no way to predict future solar activity. They were wrong. The solar activity we see today and the activity of cycle 23 were predicted back in the 1990s.  (Oct 6, 2013 | post #4)

The inconvenient 17-year pause in global warming

The scientists have fixed the data from time to time. That's a documented fact. Not even the climate scientists at the various reporting agencies will deny that. Their latest fixes are to the arctic temperatures. Why do you think we heard so much about arctic warming recently? But it doesn't matter, nothing we see today hasn't been seen before, including a 'melting' arctic.  (Oct 2, 2013 | post #87)

Global Warming

The inconvenient 17-year pause in global warming

Actually, I 'blame' anything and everything, including CO2. I just don't think CO2 is the driver of climate change. It's an effect of a changing climate, not the cause.  (Oct 2, 2013 | post #86)

Global Warming

The inconvenient 17-year pause in global warming

As I said, ENSO is part of the process. The biggest mistake climate science makes is trying to blame a single element for changing the climate. I don't doubt climate is changing. What I doubt is that man made CO2 is the reason for the change.  (Oct 2, 2013 | post #84)
