Our View: During drought, fireworks should be all banned

i will concede your point about fire vs, fireworks as the cause of death. your statement is still ridiculous. the number of people who die each year from fire is negligible compared to death or injury by auto accident. sorry, you are just wrong. it is what it is and no amount of your mis-informed garbage will change the facts. you can change your opinions but not the facts.  (Jun 27, 2011 | post #74)

your article is false and you are a victim of misleading journalism. the state of new mexico has regulations that cannot be over-ridden by local statutes. it is what it is and you can believe what you want. your local rag is wrong....simple as that. you have no credibility.  (Jun 27, 2011 | post #73)

the answer you don't want to hear is obvious. republicans and democrats are exactly the same in the way they steal and lie and cover things up. they don't want to catch the cheaters because it will shed bad light on themselves. the only difference in the criminals is the letter they put in front of their names. if you are a repub. or demo. you are a brainwashed sheeple. the party system exists solely to give citizens a sense of importance. blind faith in either party is pure submission.  (Jun 27, 2011 | post #10)

you are calling me a fool? that is truly ironic. you not only failed to comprehend the comment you replied to, you also completely failed to even read it. i don't even use fireworks, i have priorities and that is not one of them. i am poor. you fail to defend your opinions (you have no facts or credibility) and resort to name calling like a child. the facts are, fireworks are not banned, there will be no fines for those who do not follow a law that doesn't exist. the city has done all it can do in the way of regulating them, but no such ban as you suggest. get over it. the entirety of your post is not only false, your attempt to influence any thinking person was feeble at best. you do not know anything about the subject you are posting about. your arguments are emotional at best and obviously reactional. the claim of more lives lost to fire caused by fireworks than by car accident is laughable. you called me a fool?  (Jun 27, 2011 | post #47)

you might be correct in that these fires are man made. having conceded that to you, i ask you to show me even one of these fires that was started by using fireworks.  (Jun 27, 2011 | post #7)

you are correct that there is a reason why fireworks are banned. it is not because of safety issues, it is because of control issues. at least get your argument right.  (Jun 27, 2011 | post #6)

logic and common sense go a long ways in life. except here on these forums with these people. at least you made the effort. hagd. by the way, i don't do fireworks....they cost too much and i am poor.  (Jun 27, 2011 | post #38)

if you don't want to use fireworks, don't. but you do not have the right to give away everyone elses rights. just because you would willingly give up your rights does not mean i will allow you to give up my rights for me. i will make my own choices for at least as long as it is my right to do so.  (Jun 27, 2011 | post #37)

i cry BS to this post. you made this trash up in your own mind. i will wait for proof that more people are injured by fire in one year than vehicle accidents. i would bet (without doing any research or even using google) that not even 100% of the people injured or killed by fire every year equals even 1/10th of 1% of the number of people injured in auto accidents every day much less in a full year. you made this up to support your agenda. reminds me of typical political lies concocted to impress people with no ability to think for themselves. you are not factually supported in your argument. your foo is weak. logical foo is strong.  (Jun 27, 2011 | post #36)

a long long time ago...in a galaxy far far away i went to a seminar on economics. we were asked to submit an idea at the end which would serve to make govt. more efficient. consensual vote cancelling was the idea i submitted. before going further, i must confess that when my idea was discussed, i was told by the lecturer that it was nothing new. that is why i assumed that someone might know it by that name. let us suppose that a staunch democrat (such as roy) knows a staunch republican (such as sarah palin). they get together and agree to abstain from voting completely since their one pull votes would cancel each other out. now, imagine 10 million or 50 million voters doing exactly the same thing. think of the money saved. gas saved by not going to the polls. the benefit to the environment from not going to the polls. less people needed for poll work. less gas they use that day too. less votes to count, less paperwork, less chance of fraud since each would make sure the other didn't cheat and vote anyway. it would ease the burden on govt. of paying for elections too. less people voting, less cost in the end. yes, i know it is utopian also. your idea triggered my memory.  (Jun 23, 2011 | post #12)
