Raytheon forbids employees to access WikiLeaks website

So, the DoD (among other agencies) wants to slip from responsibility of maintaining security on its documents by telling the rest of the world to pretend they're not there? By threatening law abiding Americans instead of plugging their gaps and terminating Mr. WikiLeaks? Sorry, but that's exactly the wrong way to go about it. Unless, of course, they intend to alienate the American public even more than they already have.  (Dec 3, 2010 | post #30)

Boo! Hoo! Another boob who can't handle finances wanting public sympathy. Try elsewhere. And, shame on the PT for ANOTHER instance of poor reporting and front-page sensationalism.  (Nov 25, 2010 | post #20)

Leaks show an Iraq in peril of chaotic collapse.

We didn't need WikiLeaks to know that. Just read an **** paper and use some common sense. Even the most backward insurgent can read a calendar. All they have to do is mark Obama's publicized cut-and-run date and add a day or two to schedule the next major offensive.  (Oct 23, 2010 | post #1)

`South Pacific' stands the test of time

The Clinton Administration on December 21, 1993, issued Defense Directive 1304.26, which directed that military applicants were not to be asked about their sexual orientation. This is the policy now known as "Don't Ask, Don't Tell". http://en.wikipedi a.org/wiki/Don%27t _ask,_don%27t_tell #History  (Oct 23, 2010 | post #36)

Bull. He is playing politics. DADT is the result of an order from the Commander-in-Chief . Obama is the C-in-C, now. All it would take to "repeal" it is another order. Congress and the courts are merely excuses to allow the slimy coward a means of dodging his own responsibility. The military handled desegregation almost overnight as the direct result of such an order. It would handle this issue the same way if those in charge would muster up the backbone to make it so.  (Oct 23, 2010 | post #29)

Poll: Americans split on health care repeal

Obamacare does absolutely nothing to address the real problem: the spiraling costs of health care. All it does is perpetuate the upward spiral and feed the insurance companies. My medical expenses will increase a minimum of $5000-8000 next year alone and I already have medical insurance! This charade must be repealed in its entirety.  (Oct 23, 2010 | post #9)

Yes on Bellflower's Measure A

Isn't it strange how Bellflower has to increase its utility tax 40% when neighboring Lakewood doesn't even have such a thing? The bozos in city hall should be doing their jobs by getting new businesses, such as a recently denied electric car dealership, here and spending funds on more appropriate things than a bike/walkway, instead of returning to the public trough once again. Hopefully, last Friday's fire at the old Clark Bowl will energize these efforts. It seems to be the only kind of redevelopment that will occur in this backwater given the inertia of the gang downtown.  (Oct 15, 2010 | post #1)

Jury rejects parents' lawsuit against helmet maker

The only negligence here is on the part of the parents for failing to recognize the danger of their son's extreme sports activities. "Extreme " sports come with extreme risks, which the participant assumes. They should have considered the possibilities before enabling their son's risky playtime.  (Oct 15, 2010 | post #3)
