Man dies in motorcycle crash | The Columbus Dispatch

"Jarrett, who was thrown from the motorcycle, . . . " Really? Ya think? Great reporting once again. As far as a helmet goes, you really do increase your chances when wearing one, but at 120MPH, which is two vehicles doing 60 hitting each other, it isn't going to matter much. The impact scrambles things in a helmet or not, and the physical trauma is often too much to recover from, old or young. To all drivers, two, four, or 16 wheels - heads up, hands on the handlebars or steering wheel, and eyes on the road. Blessings and peace to the family of the lost rider, and even moreso to Ms. Schoonover who must carry on with this experience in her mind.  (Jul 28, 2011 | post #9)

Strickland launches consulting firm | The Columbus Dispatch

After all, one has to start funneling in the benefits of the gifts handed out when in office. Before shooting me with the poison arrow, have a look at our current Gov. He did this before becoming taking the top office in Ohio. Smart man.  (Jul 27, 2011 | post #1)

Lunch losses mount for city schools | The Columbus Dispatch

It is interesting and refreshing to see all the comments from the conservatives that are up early to read and comment. Check back in around 1:00 p.m. after the libs wake and have had their breakfast/brunch hangover remedy doobie. Things should get real interesting then. The finger pointing and name calling will begin. This system is the same as the welfare system. The more children you have, the more money you collect. Same with the schools, which now covers food. These kids even get free lunch during the summer. Don't believe me? http://www.dispatc h.com/live/content /local_news/storie s/2011/06/01/summe r-food-program-sta rts-Monday.html?si d=101 http://parks.colum bus.gov/programs.a spx?id=26852 http://parks.colum bus.gov/uploadedFi les/Recreation_and _Parks/Programs/Su mmer_Food/Summer%2 0Food%20Open%20Sit es%202011.pdf It is all about control through learned helplessness. Very sad. Good thing the federal government can print money or we'd all be in trouble (sarcasm). As Margaret Thatcher so eloquently said, ""The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money [to spend]."  (Jun 25, 2011 | post #17)

Husted maintains stance against photo-ID provision | The ...

I am familiar with this type of reply. It is the equivalent of "nya nya nya nya nya nya" on the playground. Since you could obviously see that I did not provide statistics, this is the most intelligent reply you could come up with. Challenge to you sir, or madam, me not knowing what a trogdor is. I imagine it is a Dungeons and Dragons game piece or character. Show me your statistics and I'll show you mine. Your roll.  (Jun 24, 2011 | post #17)

Two Pounds Sterling - "Even Ron O'Brien" doesn't carry much weight with lots of folks, and you cannot prosecute someone you do not pursue. Let us assume you are correct, and I am without the facts. It still would not matter if the voters had to show ID if fraud is not an issue. You close your "statistic " quote, one by a politician, with a shot at me. This leads me to believe that's all you got. Bleed on.  (Jun 24, 2011 | post #16)

I'm sorry Jon, but you are wrong on this one. The number of legitimate votes that may be excluded by extreme circumstances do not trump the amount of fraud committed without a photo ID provision.  (Jun 24, 2011 | post #1)

Fairfield County farmer pushes through pain to chase Olym...

"Pain is the purifier," Myers said. "The more you can handle in training, the better you're going to do in a race, and the more you can handle in a race, the better you'll do. That's what running is - pain. It's all about how you handle it." I've started running again after stopping for medical reasons 18 years ago. I'm cleared to run again, but the pain - I'd forgotten about that and hoped it was something that would go away. Thanks for putting it in words - I'll have to work with the pain, through it, feed off of it, and keep going. Time to get reacquainted with that old friend.  (Jun 19, 2011 | post #14)

All-electric Wheego LiFe arrives at local dealer | The Co...

"When you're sitting in traffic and everyone else is burning gas, the only power you're using is to run the radio and the air conditioning, " he said. The gas cars can be turned off also but the A/C won't work. Keep in mind the energy used to power the A/C in the electric car was generated by fossil fuels burned in a power generating plant then plugged into the battery system of the car. The power you are using was something burned, like gas. The statement above is deceptive, as are many parts of the green movement.  (Jun 15, 2011 | post #17)

Length: 118.5 inches, Width: 63.2 inches? The car is almost 10 feet long? 118.5/12 = 9.875. I can see this car being 5ft wide, but something is wrong in the length specification.  (Jun 15, 2011 | post #14)
