J.J. Yeley

Raines out, Yeley in next season in No. 96

He only raced 8 races in the IRL. It was his first ride on pavement. He crashed 2 times and he wasn't in the best equipment either. Tony Stewart stated that. JJ's a really talented driver. Tony raced on Pavement for a few years before he even went to NASCAR- So you can't compare the two. JJ did 8 indy races - went back to dirt- and then went from Silver Crown, Sprint, Midget cars with limited pavement. straight into Arca- Busch series. His Arca - he finished 2nd- Truck one race finshed 13th. His progress has been very good actually. He could use some luck tho. Montoya didn't come from dirt. Tony and Montoya were already use to pavement when they made the transition. They only had to adjust to the weight of the car. JJ had to adjust from Dirt and weight. BIG difference.  (Nov 23, 2007 | post #4)

As pressure mounts, Yeley keeps his cool

I just want to say - That I am a JJ and Tony fan. And Anyone who knows JJ, Knows that JJ thinks the world of Tony and Tony thinks the world of JJ. JJ built Tonys Sprint team for him and they broke all kinds of records together. JJ busts on Tony, cause they admire each other so much. I am not sure why JD doesn't support JJ 100%. But I think that its too late to fix it. I hope JJ and the team win a few races and JJ gets a great Job- I would like to see him at DEI- But Ganassi or even the Wood Brothers would be okay with me. Scott Z and Fatback are there- and I bet they would totally enjoy having JJ.  (Jul 15, 2007 | post #117)

Evan, I think J.J. could have cars to win, but you have to have a Crew Chief who can help you. The Day J.J. won the Pole, his crew Chief changed the front end. CHANGED THE WHOLE FRONT SETUP! I couldn't believe it! Turned a great car into crap! A Team wins. It can't be one or two parts, it has to be the whole Team. JJ can win- he just needs the car balanced to his liking. Seems like when something is great- It gets changed. Look at each race individually and you will see what I mean. I have notes for each race- I have written JGR and asked. DW saw it last week on Hotpass. They had a great car, and Steve adjusted it and killed it. He does it all the time and JGR won't fix the issue. I have no clue why. Last year he took the car to its limit(and it spun out), this year he is driving it to its ability.  (Jul 14, 2007 | post #96)
