Feeling hoodwinked, Obama backers? Join the club

Obama never claimed to be a member of the Proletariat. I seriously doubt if he ever used the word "liberal " to describe either himself or his policies. He said he wanted neither bigger government nor smaller government, but smarter government. And that's what he has done with his almost perfect appointees. He promised change in Washington, but Washington cannot be changed without people who understand it. They are smart people who are neither neocons nor ideologues. And all are superior to that band of losers who have been around the last eight years.  (Dec 10, 2008 | post #37)

Talks between O's, Markakis on hold

Unbelievable. Only the Orioles could blow this.....  (Dec 2, 2008 | post #3)

Douglas in big hurry to rush QB

Every game should scare you with this team. The Ravens always play up - or down - to the level of their competition. So a close game or even a loss should not surprise you too much.  (Nov 28, 2008 | post #2)

Teixeira wants to have team by Christmas

Why not re-sign Huff for about $8M ($12M per year fewer dollars) and use the Tex money to buy two medium-ability, averagely decent pitchers to fill out the rotation? Then you have an underrated - but quality nonetheless - slugger at first and brand new #2 and #3 pitchers (instead of Burres and the like) with Guthrie and crappy ol' Daniel Cabrera bookending them. (Why D-Cab? Because nobody has ten good pitchers on the staff, and he is not without merit, as he eats innings). Then, when Arietta, Tillman and/or some of the other kids are ready, spend some serious money for a Tex-style hitter. There is not much point in paying twenty million bucks/per to a guy you will still be paying twenty million bucks when he is 39-years-old and hitting five to ten HRs a year.  (Nov 23, 2008 | post #8)

Hail to the educator in chief

I don't know how NCLB can be trashed as poor legislation when it has been neither been funded nor implemented correctly. Let's try it out before rejecting it. And asking teachers about it is absurd, as the primary goal of teachers is to fund teachers, not children.  (Nov 19, 2008 | post #4)

For Ravens under Harbaugh, talk is cheap

The Giants should stomp the Ravens. If the Ravens pull this one out, they are the real thing, no question about it.  (Nov 16, 2008 | post #9)

Ravens' McAlister done for season

There is no excuse for not going after Hall. Harbaugh must be living in the Twilight Zone if he doesn't think we need a quality corner. In fact, it's what we need the most.  (Nov 8, 2008 | post #8)

Agent: Yanks' Mussina still mum on retirement

Mussina is a junkball pitcher who just came off a terrific season. Tim Wakefield and Jamie Moyers have gotten by on junk for decades, if not centuries. I see no reason for the Moosemeister to retire at this point. If the Yankees don't want him, someone else certainly will.  (Oct 26, 2008 | post #2)

Ogden to receive ringing endorsement

Class act all the way. Next stop, Canton, as the very first Baltimore Raven to be inducted.  (Oct 26, 2008 | post #1)

Wall Street rescue may be worst legislation ever

Yes, and after reading your trite, simplistic platitudes - alomng with those of all your "pallin' around" friends in here - I can see that you are simply another Einstein. Spare me the noise and try to think of something original, even is it is just as useless as the nonsense you have been spewing.  (Oct 8, 2008 | post #44)

Another Depression?

The fact that you had to go back thirty years proves my point. Carter was the exception that proves the rule, and, unlike Republicans, who continue to enjoy getting hammered on the head by the same people over and over agin, I did not vote for his re-election. For example, the last decade was full of peace and prosperity while this decade has been nothing but war and recession, culmination in a borderline 1930 scenario. Yet I would bet the rent that every Republican in here will vote for more of the same with McCain and that dimwatt Palin.  (Oct 8, 2008 | post #28)

Fantasy, reality and fish

These Q&A articles are really weird. While it might be interesting to hear a bit about a player's off-field life, the questions are somewhat dull and tend to make the player look like a yoyo, which I don't believe is always true. May I suggest that the players be asked about - just as examples - the guy's politics or social issues or how he feels about the business side of the game or something else that has some relevance.  (Oct 8, 2008 | post #1)

Wall Street rescue may be worst legislation ever

I'm bright enough, unlike you, not to vote Republican. I'm also bright enough to expect my government to make good on money I lost due to the fact that they were asleep at the wheel. This was not gambling on Wall Street and losing. This was not gambling at all. The government let the lunatics run the asylum and the crooks run the bank and therefore the government should make good on it. Go lose your own money and leave mine alone.  (Oct 8, 2008 | post #37)

Wall Street rescue may be worst legislation ever

Well, I'll tell you what. Let Smith and all you people lose your IRAs because you guys want to send some sort of message. As for me, I prefer to retire with what I have saved, thank you very much. The government did exactly what it is supposed to do - save my money. Blame and new regulation can - and should - be on the agenda, but first things first.  (Oct 8, 2008 | post #32)
