Dayton vetoes GOP-drafted redistricting maps

Did you guys seriously think he would sign it? A Democrat Governor would no more sign a Republican redistricting plan than a Republican would sign a Democrat redistricting plan. Both parties do what it takes to protect their interests. Anyone who thinks otherwise if foolish and naive. And quit pretending that the last Governor wouldn't have done the exact same thing if rthe Democrats came up with a plan that gave them redistricting advantages.  (May 19, 2011 | post #4)

Apocalypse now? We'll find out Saturday

Thank you. The Mayan intention NEVER was that the world was ending. It was the end of a cycle, much like when we roll from this age into the age of Aquarius.  (May 18, 2011 | post #81)

Doomsday believers not planning past Saturday

Minnesota Twins: Joe Mauer to begin extended spring training

Joe- you chose to be a catcher and knew full well it is a position that requires you to play with all sorts of nicks and dings. Much as I clown Butera, I find it funny that he managed to catch both ends of a double header. You don't have the guts, fortitude, or nerve to play more than half the time behind the plate. Here's a thought. Instead of making shampoo commercials, get off your dead end and do some squats in the off season to build leg strength. And if you can't hack it you whining. molly coddled, little pig- quit baseball.  (May 16, 2011 | post #24)

Tom Powers: Vikings could've, should've waited to pick a ...

I'm probably one of the few not offended by the pick. If you couldn't trade back, do you really want to chance the 3 QB's left that are upper tier (Mallett, Dalton and Nevada guy whose name I can't spell) will be around in the second round. Remember folks- we've been griping that we're sick of this team getting retread has-been QB's. We can't have it both ways.  (Apr 29, 2011 | post #144)

Minnesota Twins: Meeting today will decide immediate futu...

I couldn't help but notice that Drew Butera managed to catch but games in the double header. Maybe Joe should learn from Drew about playing a couple games in a row...  (Apr 29, 2011 | post #44)

Minnesota Twins: Ron Gardenhire defends how he handles in...

"I walk through the training room, I talk to them every day. If a guy's hurt, he's hurt," he said. "I don't question heart or desire in this clubhouse. These guys have it. I know they want to play." Spoken like a true coward who lets the inmates run the asylum...  (Apr 28, 2011 | post #8)

Delmon Young's start aborted for disabled list

Sorry Gardenfire- who's fault is it you're short handed? You let a player tell you whether he wants to play or not because it's cold? The whole bunch of you mollycoddled, overpaid, fat and lazy mama's boys needs to grow a set- from the GM to the manager to the players.  (Apr 28, 2011 | post #16)

Michael Cuddyer fine with staying at second base for Twins

Because that outfield defense of Kubel, Young and Span will send shivers of fear throughout the American league. Is the Twins farm system so outright bad that Gardenfire feels like he has to plug his starting right fielder into second base? And if that is the case, why have they done NOTHING to change that?  (Apr 25, 2011 | post #6)

Shooter Now: Some Minnesota Twins playing for their futures

I'd rather see a bunch of AA and AAA rookies who have a desire to play than a bunch of pampered, overrated fat cats who think they don't need to try anymore.  (Apr 21, 2011 | post #7)

Minnesota Twins misfire on all cylinders

A prime example of the Twins failure to plan ahead for problems. The manager seemed to think that the overrated Cuddyer should be the backup plan for every single position. So as soon as two guys go down, he's forced to use scrubs that wouldn't make the roster on the other 31 teams in MLB. Add no backup plan in place for when Mauer goes on his yearly month or more stint on the DL, no backup plan for the terrible Casilla who has had one decent half season in his entire career, and pitching thats just plain mediocre on the best of days, and you have a recipe for disaster. But I'm sure that Gardenfire will tell us how proud he is that the team is battling.  (Apr 20, 2011 | post #17)

Shooter Now: Vikings more likely to get McNabb than draft...

I find it difficult to believe anyone thinks this team is just a player or two away from contending again. No QB, the O line is a mess, the DL is even worse with Pat almost certainly gone and Kevin likely suspended for 1/4 of the season, corners are either old or always hurt, safety play is pathetic, TE is a disaster in the making, WR aside from Harvin is a mess (I'm assuming Rice is a free agent), and even our kicker is on the downside of his career. Oh- and we have zero depth behind the starters. Throw in a heach coach with only a few real games experience, a new OC and offensive system, a lockout, and the fact that all these guys are a year older and you see where this team really is. I have news folks- the rebuilding time is already here.  (Apr 19, 2011 | post #39)

Video: Jim Thome as Paul Bunyan

"I guess you wonder about it, but it's funny, every time — and I know going on the DL's not a good thing — but every time I get hurt, everybody brings up everything," he said. "This is my eighth season, and I've had some injuries, but you look at everything, and I've played a lot, too." Here's a thought Joe- maybe it gets brought up because you cry every time you get hurt. Maybe this is related to the infection and maybe not. But the bottom line is, you chose to make catching your career. If you can't handle all the nicks and bumps that are associated with the position, then give it up and let someone who doesn't whine do it. Funny how Butera (who I personally don't think belongs on a MLB roster) manages to play his share of games but we don't here him say a single word about his owies.  (Apr 18, 2011 | post #22)
