Indiana's NCAA Tournament teams face tough defensive assi...

I have a question about a non-Indiana team in the tourney. Is anyone else not impressed with UCLA? I see person after person putting them in their final four, but the last two games I saw the Bruins play they needed bad calls to get the win. I can see them getting upset by Drake, UConn, Xavier, Duke and even (in a stretch) Purdue. Just wondering since I can't see them getting even a sniff of the final four.  (Mar 18, 2008 | post #1)

Ex-Bulldog impressed by team's approach

Can't wait to see the Dawgs and especially Mike Green in action at the big dance. I haven't had a chance to look at South Alabama, but I like Tennesee and love their coach Bruce Pearl. If He's not on IU's short list they're crazy. I don't make predictions, but that 2nd round matchup is a daunting one. Especially since Pearl lost to the Dawgs last year and is familar with our style of play. If they pull off the upset and get past past Tennessee and then it's probaly Louisville. I love how Butler matches up against the Cardinals. After that? Well I don't like our chances against UNC. Maybe we can hope for an upset to knock them out of it.  (Mar 18, 2008 | post #1)

State's entries have no cakewalks in this tournament

To be honest I think the Dawgs are better than a 7 seed but I'm not going to stess about it. Unfortunately the traditional powerhouses we played this year all fell on their faces. Any other year and those games would have helped us. Can't do anything about it. You play the best teams you can play and let the chips fall where they may. If the Dawgs play to the best of their abilities they'll do fine. I'm not making any predictions, but the last time we faced the Vols we held them 20 shots below their average. No matter what their seeding at least we are still playing. Same for IU, PU and ND. All are still playing and have the opportunity to prove the powers that be right or wrong. The only school (maybe in the whole country) with a real gripe is IUPUI. They flat out got robbed. No NIT appearance? Come on. That is a total joke. Ask UMASS about it.  (Mar 17, 2008 | post #125)

Jaguars left out of postseason play

I for one would love to see the Jags in the Horizon League. I don't know what would be involved or how the powers that be in the HL feel about it, but it would get my vote as a basketball fan in this state. What a great rivalry we could have between my Dawgs and the Jags.  (Mar 17, 2008 | post #37)

Jaguars left out of postseason play

It's time for the NCAA to come clean about their criteria on choosing teams for the post season. I wouldn't have put the Jags into the big dance either, but to not have them in the NIT is a crime. Their RPI rating (to my understanding) is 69th. They are a team with a dynamic coach as well as a dynamic player in Hill. The only reason they were left out has to be the small gym they play in which would limit revenue. These young men did everything that was asked of them. If cash is the reason, fine, but be honest about it. At least the new tourney (CIT, CTI....whatever it is called) is honest about it. They're there for the cash. My Bulldogs ended up with a 7 seed with only 3 losses all year, but I can live with that. They just need to take care of business. At least they're still playing. The Jags got totally ripped off.  (Mar 17, 2008 | post #36)

I don't make preditions as a rule, but I do love reading the preditions of bitter people who live to spew hate at other teams and their fans. My two preditions: One, you'll be eating your words very soon. Two, we won't hear much else from you until the Dawgs lose again. How ever very, very long that takes.  (Mar 12, 2008 | post #27)

NCAA bid slips out of Jaguars' reach

I really thought the Jags would do it last night. What a great season IUPUI had. What a great year for basketball in this state!  (Mar 12, 2008 | post #3)

I'm going to miss seeing this group of seniors play at Hinkle. I can't say how much I've loved watching these guys (especially Green) play. Every round the Dawgs play in the tourney is going to be special this year. A 4, 5 or 6 seed? I don't care. Get ready to see Butler rock the world.  (Mar 12, 2008 | post #7)

IU recruit to re-open process

I know that many would think that my being a Dawg fan would automatically make me an IU hater, but it's not true. I root for most all the schools in this state. I love Hoosier Hysteria and I think bball should begin and end here. Our state has a great basketball tradition and IU has been a big part of that. I remember driving from Detroit to Midland Michigan with a friend and listening to IU win its last NCAA title. We had to pull off the road and park the car so as to not lose the signal coming from the Motor City for the final 5 minutes. You can't imagine the hooting and hollaring we did when the buzzer sounded, and he was an MSU fan. If IU isn't on the national map then to a large degree this state isn't either. For good or bad IU and Bobby Knight made us all significant. I hope that the powers that be at IU move quickly and put a quality, nationally recognized coach in place. If that means doing something radical and/or loosening up the purse strings then do it! The IU leadership needs to stop thinking the prestige of coaching IU is enough. Get the best coach you can get and pay him accordingly. No more bargin basement shopping. Maybe the right guy could save this recruiting class. I haven't heard anything about a post season ban coming IU's way. This Sampson fiasco doesn't have to be the death knell for the Hoosiers. Not even for next year. I would love to see IU back on top again. I'd love to see the best players in the country making the trip to Bloomington. Then when my Dawgs come into Assembly Hall and thump the Hoosiers butts all the world would take notice (smiling):)  (Mar 11, 2008 | post #12)

Hill leads IUPUI to victory

I'll be rooting for the Jags tonight almost as hard as I will for my Dawgs. It would be a crime if they weren't to continue in the post season this year. Go Jags!!!  (Mar 11, 2008 | post #5)

As I said the other day, the Vikings played great defense the last time they came to Hinkle. Points will be tough to come by for the Dawgs and this game is by no means a shoe in. Butler will need its A-game tonight to put the capper on the conference season. I know one thing. There are buble teams and fans all accross the country who will be rooting for the Dawgs tonight. I know of more than a few coaches who will watch this game very closely.  (Mar 11, 2008 | post #1)

Bulldogs likely to rise in polls

I think that a top ten ranking would be a good honor for a great team at the end of the season, but it isn't going to count much (or at least make a big difference now) when seeding time comes around. I feel most of those involved in the have already decided where they are seeding Butler and with only one more game they won't have much opportunity to change the minds of the powers that be. All I know is Butler's recent NCAA history has been great. They always perform well in the tourney and have a real shot at the elite eight no matter where they are placed in the brackets. I can't wait for Tuesday and I definitely can't wait for the real March Madness to begin.  (Mar 10, 2008 | post #2)
