Vets groups' praise for Hagel adds pressure on GOP

For those of you that dont believe in politics as a real hardball game, wake up and smell the coffee. Dont matter of party affiliation the GOP can and will turn on their on. Now if they wanted to they could forgive him of any transgressions. But this is hardball. Veterans wake up dont any of them have your best interest at heart. And I mean any of them.. They'll give you good lip service but they cant identify with us because they spend their entire lives running the opposite way.  (Feb 7, 2013 | post #1)

Baltimore VA office worst in nation for processing claims

God I am so tired of hearing this. But as a former government worker I can honestly say part of the reason is the department itself. And there are those of you that can indentify. The system is a good ole boy network. For the most part its workers are comprised of veterans and military retirees. And to that a head manager of the same ilk. Now couple that with the promise of a retirement check after thirty years of service and a 7.5 daily work schedule. A librial (?) leave policy in most cases. Add to that a relaxed work environment. Now on top of that a system that is always reactive an not proactive and you get this clustet f_ _ _! If it were possible I'd advocate, the dismantling the entire federal government system and start from scratch. And I'd begin with the politicians. I speak from somewhat of inside knowledge because of three tours of duty in our nations capital.  (Jan 27, 2013 | post #1)

Shooting suspect inadvertently discharged from VA hospital

Another bad mark on an already battered Dept of V.A. As an active duty soldier I've worked in army hospitals world wide, and I can't fathom this ever happening. It's a well known fact that medics and MPs don't have a cozy relationship. But you can best believe that matters as this we would have put aside our differences and worked together for the common good. I suggest that the government health care systems and there are many be put under one umbrella.I surely jest but there needs some solution!  (Nov 28, 2012 | post #1)

Vets Wait 11 Months for Benefits

Come on guys and dolls, who among you hasn't ensured the old hurry up and wait? Our system is old and outmoded. At last glance it's based on a system that was put in place during the Eisenhour(?) administration. The politicos dont want to address in because it's not popular. They tell you what they think you want to hear, but do they really care? I THINK NOT. They turn us vets down as a deterent, to tire one out or frustrate us. The power brokers in D.C. don't want to address the issue or don't you think the would? We're talking the most powerful nation on the planet. Now while we gripe an complain, we are not the worst off as our former enemies. Some of them die waiting for injuries sustained on active duty. Ask the Russian soldier or even our ally the South Koreans. I say this to put things in perspective, cause as the old saying goes ''No matter how had off you think you have it there's always someone worse''. I suggest we all put on a good suit of armor and a better pair of boxing gloves. And pack a good lunch cause you're in for a damn good fight!  (Nov 13, 2012 | post #4)

Fund meant to bury impoverished veterans rejects over two...

PAR FOR THE COURSE! Damn red tape, I suggest the approving agency make example or template available otherwise it's gonna be a situation where a government worker gets an "ATTA BOY" for saving the government. Then our congress will disapprove funding or abolish the program.  (Nov 5, 2012 | post #2)
