Has anyone had a problem while driving past St. Mary's on Howard S...

Just thought I would throw this out there...on weekdays around 2:30 pm you have the school buses lines up...on evenings you have the CCD / Confirmation parents lines up to drop-off / pick up kids. Just appears strange at times the road behind St. Mary's (Howard Street) becomes a one lane road. And the opposing cars are forced to play "Chicken ". NO COPS either....NEVER... well, they did put out a speed limit reminder a couple times. The people living on this street by the school cannot even use the front of their home for parking...NEVER... is it not permitted. Oh, and over the last 3 years...the road has been resurfaced TWICE and widened between the resurfacing to allow a fire truck to "squeeze by" the parked school busses or get past the line of cars in the evening. My thought...."o h my gosh"...this is a HUGE parish (one of the largest in the NATION) w/ a bunch of potential voters...Heaven forbid...The church would be asked to change how the busses line up or PAY for street widening to accommodate the busses or cars. I for one am just waiting for a bad wreck or worse on day (and hopefully, this does not happen!!) And this was brought up to the last Plainfield administration and dismissed w/o comment...Mayor Waldorf...and a one-time St. Mary school principle…hmmmm???  (Monday Nov 23 | post #1)

Are Moderates the Future of the PLFD GOP?

No offense, but I have not kept up with the names of Plainfield area subdivisions...is this in the Village of Plainfield?? Heck, on another note, I have yet to find out where the Village Hall is located in “NORTH Plainfield”….or find the so-called area named on a map…and I have been around this area since the early 1970’s. Last time I looked at my voter card it indicates I live in the Village of Plainfield. And our mayor is officially the VILLAGE PRESIDENT (this mayor crap started under Waldorf)  (Monday Nov 23 | post #8)

Taxes_Plainfield - Analysis

And let us not forget the "just deserved" pay and "EXTRAS" bestowed upon Plainfield School District Superintendant Harper....and I just cannot get the fact out of my mind about the HUGE (sic) voter turnout at the last election. WE ALLOW this "CRAP" to continue...let's just keep having the DO NOTHING TEA PARTIES and don't forget to smile nice for the FOX NEWS cameras....only through the action of voting to retain or replace someone, even voting to reject or support a referendum can people begin to change things. So, when we have turnouts like the last election, then only those who cast a vote have a right, in my eyes, to complain about anything local. Politicians…no matter who it is (in my opinion) will sell their soul to the devil if it means getting elected…ever notice how incumbent Politian’s like Cross, Biggert, Halvorson, Quinn television and print articles start popping up during election season, touting their accomplishments? Simply put: they wish to remain in power!  (Monday Nov 23 | post #2)

Are Moderates the Future of the PLFD GOP?

Who really gives a crap about GOP Plainfield..they bite the hand that feeds them (Tom Cross) and do not even know how to report to the State Board properly...and have a bunch of "Wannabees " running the local party...what a joke! And do not even bring up the 10% of the 18% voters (oh yea...closer to 17%) who cast a ballot in the last election for the Republicans. Sorry if this offends some of you "Wannabees " but this what it is!! Village of Plainfield people downtown VOTE and they have a right to BITCH...the rest, well...SHUT UP! So, about those leaving the Democrats...well, they are probably not part of the 18% who voted in the last election...they just want someone to bitch about and find a simpathetic ear and shoulder to cry on.  (Wednesday Nov 18 | post #6)

Retired state cop could take helm in Plainfield

Good point...but you missed the whole intent on this thread. Plainfield is laying off folks...hey, the new top cop has a pension and should be sitting in a boat fishing. Hire from within an keep people working. By the way, thank you for your service and well deserved retirement!  (Monday Nov 16 | post #44)

Retired state cop could take helm in Plainfield

Got to wonder....instead of blaming each other (like Dems & Repub's), isn't it about time Plainfield folks stand up for what is truly right? Just wondering...what is needed to send a clear message to our "people in office"? Note: I would say elected, but just about anybody who wants an elected position in Plainfield gets in.  (Monday Nov 9 | post #38)

Retired state cop could take helm in Plainfield

From the Village of Plainfield: "Due to the Village's current financial situation, the Village laid off sixteen (16) employees and notice was given to three (3) police officers on Thursday, October 29th. A statement regarding the layoffs was provided at the 11/2/09 Board Meeting and is posted on the Village web site." So let's hire a RETIRED State Police MAJOR..with a great STATE pension...and lay off MORE from the Village. But he will work for $1 for each month during November and December..wow..lik e he needs the job!! That's our great local government at work!! Hire those who DO NOT need the work and lay off the rest…makes perfect sense to me!! Again, remember WE are the one’s who voted in these CLOWNS...well, a portion of 18% of “WE”...because nobody gives a damn about the elected officials until it is too late. And I bet, some do not remember who or what offices were up election. What a shame. BTW...I know Village President Collins was on the Plainfield Police Board before he became Lord Mayor of P-Ville. Of course, like Plainfield Township, you cannot get any information on the "Special " boards from their websites. Wonder who replaced him? In the Herald News there was a mention Collins was planning on replacing Bennett, so let’s see…Mike Collins RETIRED State Police and the new Police Chief is also a RETIRED State Trooper…Hmm?? Cronyism is alive and well in Plainfield!!  (Saturday Nov 7 | post #34)

Are You a Rep. or Dem.? Why?

My gosh...as things got steadily worse under King "W", I did not hear all the current B.S. about "accountabili ty", "Tea Party", "personal responsibility " etc. The lying scumbags DICK Cheney, Carl Rove and Denny Hastert wouldn't permit it. Just allowed the hero's of the Conservative World Rush "give me some more drugs" Limbaugh and Ann "I will vote for Hillary" Coulter the "bully pulpit". And the end result: RECESSION, bordering on depression...did the main players get hurt...hell no!! And out of these foolish "Tea Parties"...di d ANYTHING actually get accomplished except: all our problems are the result of the demon Democrats..boo-hoo for the righteous republicans. Now put that point of accountability in your conservative pipe and smoke it!  (Friday Nov 6 | post #19)

Plainfield Economic Partnership AKA PEP

I would not be surprised if more of our "elected officials" were part of more so-called "economic " styled boards. Heck, there are outlets for our tax money that many do not know of ...say the Plainfield Township Cemetery Board...who the heck is on that?..only the Township officials know that and this is probably another paycheck for their deep pockets or their cronies and they like to keep the names quiet. More and more of our locally elected officials get kickbacks or favors (a.k.a. buying votes) for having their names listed as being on community groups or when they represent builders. I am not going to cast stones at all politicians, as there are a few honest, hard working individuals who really want to better the community, but sadly "pay to play" is pretty much the norm for our current crop of elected officials. I will leave the actual finger pointing to others...do some research...you will probably be very enlightened!  (Sunday Nov 1 | post #44)

Board asks Obama for stimulus money to help Lakeland’s

Plainfield...it doesn't matter who is on what board....they (the local politicians) vote matters directly tied to personal conflicts of interest without batting an eye. This is what you get with a 17% voter turnout for BOTH the Village and Township of Plainfield. Greed and Politics....hand-i n-hand in Plainfield. What's in it for ME!!  (Friday Oct 30 | post #39)
