North Main shooting victim identified

Decades ago, North Main actually was a nice area. It has gone so far down the tubes. Gangbangers fill the streets by day and night and businesses have left. The city of Columbia needs to spend more money on police instead of the buses no one rides on anymore.....or close it down, gate it and have it be the northern extension of the Riverbanks Zoo.  (Apr 25, 2012 | post #2)

Cheating sheriff's officers

Who cares if they are. It shouldn't have any affect on their duties as an officer. If you did it while on the job, then diciplinary action would be needed just like any other occupation.  (Feb 26, 2012 | post #2)

Gay Marriage - Lexington, SC

How about calling it a cival union and not marriage. Marriage is between a man and woman period.  (Feb 26, 2012 | post #8)

Obama's official Gun Ban list is made public

I get so tired of the phrase "sporting purpose." Do most people who buy rapid fire guns go hunting? Heck no, they collect them, or enjoy firing them at the range. They should have the right to own whatever they want to own. Do people who buy expensive cars that go 0 to 120 in 9 seconds really need to have them? No, but they have the right to own them. If someone wants to carry out a crime, they don't go and legally buy a serial #'d gun at the local gun show. They buy them hot off the street and do the crime. These weapons are smuggled into this country and there isn't any law that will stop these from being used. How about fixing this country, get us jobs, get us better schools, help the elderly and veterans, and stop with the handouts Mr. President. Your disappointing us and you will be out in 4 years if you keep this crap up.  (Mar 15, 2009 | post #4)

To Gun Owners

Good news is that once Obama gets into office and gives those who have less everything for free, they will be able to afford more rifles and shotguns.  (Oct 9, 2008 | post #19)

Obama's tax plan would cause job cuts

Slightly higher taxes didn't make our economy great so you may want to cut back on the smoking yourself. Clinton's policies and a robust economy resulted in the surpluses. Besides, its not one man that makes or breaks our nations budget problems, its the ones all of us elect into the house and senate that bring most of the spending bills to the table. I can assure you that Obama has so much spending planed that any hope of a surplus is a waste of time.  (Oct 9, 2008 | post #20)

Obama's tax plan would cause job cuts

Your point is so good. Those who have the most are who need to be spending so all can keep their jobs. How about spending less so we can keep from raising taxes. Both canidates seem to want to spend, spend, spend, and all of us will end up paying for it down the road.  (Oct 9, 2008 | post #19)

SCE&G Wants to Hike Rates for New Reactors

You started off bringing up some good points. One of the problems that frustrates us is those served by electric coops in many cases are paying less for electricity while those of us served by SC&G are paying more. Why are we paying for the generation of electricity and the building of new infrastructure while electric cooperatives are buying what we are generating and selling it to their customers for less. Yes we need more electric generation especially if we are going to switch to electric cars in the future and meet the needs for future generations. We will kick ourselves in the rears if 200 dollar oil looks cheap when our electric rates start going up and up and up from a lack of supply.  (Jun 1, 2008 | post #52)

Students Suspended for Sitting During Pledge of Allegiance

So very well said. Children today don't understand that rules are rules. When you grow up and work, pay taxes, and take care of yourself, then you earn the right to decide which rules are best for you and those around you. Until then, shut up and follow them. Who knows, if they learn to follow ALL OF THE RULES, they may actually grow up able to keep a job and NOT BE ON WELFARE. How many of us just love all the rules we have at our jobs? Wouldn't it be great if we could decide which rules we wanted to follow and which ones we didn't want to follow?  (May 11, 2008 | post #71)

Woman Killed in Confrontation with Deputies

If you don't like the posts than leave. This is our place to vent. Most police serve the community very well and we appreciate their service. However, there are those who do not. They pull you over and show attitude, have little regard for the rules of the road (obeying speed limits being one of them. ) And of course there are the ones who get caught committing crimes. Now don't get me wrong, this woman acted really stupid and deserved what she got. But don't make it sound like police are all wonderful people, because there are a few who really only care about themselves. Hopefully your husband isn't one of them!!!!!!  (Apr 23, 2008 | post #330)

The Boss Thinks Obama Should Be "The Boss"

Thank you, finally someone on here who PROOVES they have a college education. Obama will never win so it really doesn't matter who supports him. You could find a list of about 30 million supporters........ ....too bad the list of non-supporters is 60 million.  (Apr 20, 2008 | post #73)
