House votes down massive financial bailout

I absolutely stand corrected, and apologize. I posted too quickly after having a conversation about this with my sis. Still, when I do my math, the pricetag is less than 1 billion in cost to taxpayers, vs. 7 billion to bail out Wall St.  (Sep 29, 2008 | post #621)

House votes down massive financial bailout

I'm very happy for you, that you have had the good fortune to have enough money left after buying groceries and feul and electricity to pay for everything else. I'm not defending frivolous spending. I have a college education and a > $60,000 income and I cannot make ends meet. And that is without credit cards, a McMansion, or going out to eat more than once in a blue moon. I am a single parent and have health insurance and a 10 year old car. I have judgments against me for uninsured medicals. It's September 29th and I just paid my last $300 installment on last winter's heat and it's supposed to be doubly as expensive this winter. I'm constantly robbing Peter to pay Paul. I've never had help from a family member. I've been put into a vicious cycle by predatory financial practices that I naively thought would help me establish my credit, ie: ending up with thousands of $ in debt for the only credit card I could get that I never had a balance of greater than $500, as I now know was what is known as a "fee harvesting" card. I now have to pay >21% interest to get a car loan. How do you get out from under? People with the greatest financial need always pay way more for what they need and don't get the 0% financing breaks, etc.  (Sep 29, 2008 | post #456)

Public school dollars?? Please don't blame the poster if they didn't receive an adequate education in our public school system. Please do the math and see that the administration is very good at passing mandates without putting their money where their mouths are. Look at the real statistics and tell me that our government really cares if we have an educated populace. Concerns have been raised that since the house failed to pass the bail out, Main St. will suffer: more foreclosures, no credit offered, etc. If this was really about Main St. and not about Wall St., I have a better and cheaper bail out plan. The U.S. population is ~ 314 million. The government could bail out Main St. by giving every citizen a million dollars. Then we wouln't have to worry about our retirements, investments, mortgages, etc., and at a far lower pricetag than 700 billion.  (Sep 29, 2008 | post #396)

16 Members And Associates Of La Familia Gang Arrested

People who drive school buses and cabs live way longer than gang members. You can LMAO now, but you'll be gone before long. I just hope you don't ruin too many other people's lives before your own is over at a young age.  (Sep 29, 2008 | post #26)

Yes, but the question was about Chloroform. Is that used with cocaine?  (Sep 21, 2008 | post #701)

Okay. Her downward spiral would seem to point to drug use, but didn't she test negative when originally arrested?  (Sep 21, 2008 | post #697)

I'm not convinced on any one theory, but it did strike me as staged when Georgie Porgie "confessed " to finding his "stolen" gas cans in Casey's trunk when she came to the house. Either the chloroform was used in a cover-up, or Casey used it to drug Caylee. I can't think of any other scenarios that would involve that chemical. Can anyone else?  (Sep 21, 2008 | post #670)

I'm inclined to agree that there was nothing pre-meditated, but I can envision a Casey losing it on her daughter when, post falling-out with her folks, she's utterly responsible for the kid for probably the first time and maybe Caylee says "I want Mommy'"(meani ng Cindy) and Casey goes ballistic.  (Sep 21, 2008 | post #659)
