Willie Nelson arrested at Sierra Blanca checkpoint

you really believe everything they tell you huh... the best weed comes from within the US. The Mexican mobs don't make as much money selling weed. It's too bulky and too smelly. It's far more profitable to sell cocaine and X-tasy and all kinds of drugs but weed. What you should ask yourself is why humans have brain receptors that interact with THC(the active chemical in weed) Maybe it's because humans have been using it for such a long long time in their evolutionary history.  (Nov 26, 2010 | post #42)

Sandy Hicks: Spending time in Word replenishes us

wow, I can't believe this is published in the newspaper. An online version, of course, but non the less published by the El Paso Times. I can see the next headline "Man really finds gold at the end of the rainbow". I think a rational adult with little intelligence can realize that god is not real. I was only 5 years old when I figured that the Bible was as real as Santa Clause, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy. The author of this article is exactly why religion and god have produced the most violent groups of people around the world. Has she not ever had a job for the first time and have difficulty and hardship when she started working? Was it the Clerks fault that the author of this article was running late? Come on people. Respect everyone around you, not because there is a god but because we are all here together on this Blue planet. Be patient, be considerate and be good for humans sake.  (Nov 5, 2010 | post #1)

This is precisely what is wrong with religious people. How can you say you are religious and then you threaten to kill somebody you don't even know. Maybe you have learned that from all the other christians that have killed thousands if not millions of people in the name of god as they took over the world. Things will change, however, because the modern atheist doesn't just stand there listening to the religious rhetoric anymore. We are teachers, doctors, lawyers, engineers, judges, city council members and professors. I myself had a National Science Foundation Fellowship where I had to help teachers in Middle School, teach science better. I have reviewed my previous posts and I could not find any instance of calling people names. I'm simply stating facts.  (Sep 23, 2010 | post #103)

Stumbling disciple, your name precedes you. God did not CrEaTe you. Your ancestors created him and you are just blindly following without question.  (Sep 22, 2010 | post #51)

My issue is not with religion itself, it's with the believers. I myself have found myself reading fantasy books and fairy tales but I don't go around with an itsy bitsy spider idol on my neck. This kid can wear his rosary in school as long as it is under his shirt. We can not let anyone get away with violating the separation of church and state. what if there is a single position open at a school club and two kids want to join. One wears a cross over his neck and the other is carrying a Koran. The teacher picks the kid with the Koran because the teacher is Muslim himself. would you like that? Or what if the teacher is a Jew and he knows the Jewish kids because they wear a kippah on their head and he favors them over others. This causes too many problems. just keep your gods but keep them at your church, homes or in your head. I'm sure whatever god you believe in knows you love it either way  (Sep 22, 2010 | post #39)

I am sure that he does not idolize the rosary itself right? I am sure he uses it as a tool to worship a man made god. So his ultimate faith is not the rosary itself but what it represents. Of course it is a man made god for it is not real and did not exist in human populations from thousands of years ago. I don't think we find crosses or bibles in ancient civilizations. However, we do find other idols that people in ancient civilizations worshiped. So of course god was man made in the newer human civilizations. I'll make it real simple for you to understand. Think about the Indians that lived in the Americas at the same time as the supposed JC was walking on the Old World. If god was not man made in the Old World and if he was actually the creator of earth, then why did these Indian civilizations never heard of him until the Spanish and other Europeans came over bearing a cross and killing them by the thousands. Of course he was man made and he was made in the Old World long long ago. that's why there are no idols of this particular god in the Americas. Instead, you find Apotamkin, Raven, and Ahayuta-Achi. Do you know why you don't find those gods in the Old World? It's because they were man made in the Americas  (Sep 22, 2010 | post #37)

Well I can't be too stupid considering that I am about to get my Doctorate degree in Evolutionary Biology. However, you exemplify the problem that exists when people believe in a god. Have you ever looked at the sky at night? Do you really think that all that space and all that it contains, billions of galaxies, billions and billions of stars and even more planets surrounding those stars was created by a god that is the inspiration of the bible? Created by a god that cares if you are good and condemns you to hell if you are bad? It's a truly ridiculous claim. There is also a separation of church and state. You see, when you don't have a separation of church and state, you get countries like those in the Middle East where you have no choice to think for yourself. This young man has every right to believe in a man made god, but he needs to keep it out of school. He can even just think it to himself whenever he wants. Besides, he is almost an atheist like me he just needs one more god to get rid of---for I am sure he does not pray to Zeus, Athena, Thor, the sun god or any other man made gods that are now obsolete.  (Sep 22, 2010 | post #24)

Keep all your religious artifacts out of school. You go there to learn not to worship man made gods. Also, it makes sense because then the kids might emulate their adult counterparts and start fighting for who has the best man made god. I can see the segregation---catholics here, jehovas over there, muslim on that end and so on.  (Sep 22, 2010 | post #2)

Woman hit by car known for generosity

Unfortunately for you, I was not trying to be sarcastic. I was being sincere. I think what sucks is that people don't understand what they read. when it comes to anyone dying I show respect. I did not attack her person or her lifestyle. What I was bringing to light is the fact that many highly religious people are afraid of dying. what's up with that. It's a good thing I am an atheist because if I truly believed in a god, I would have been dead long ago. why hang around here.  (Sep 10, 2010 | post #20)

the direct quote is "My mom was a person that never wanted to talk about death. Maybe that's why she prayed so much. Death scared her," she said. so I guess you did not read the article fully. My comment was not about the lady getting run over. It was not about being insensitive. My comment was directed at the fact that they stress her religious views on the article and so it might seem that she really truly believed in god. As an atheist, I always question why religious people are so afraid of dying. I'm not afraid of dying myself and I don't believe in no imaginary afterlife.  (Sep 10, 2010 | post #19)

I agree, It is unbelievable that EPCON did not show up on the 5 things to do this weekend. Is the El Paso times staff that out of the loop? This Comic Convention has so many things going for it. Who writes this thing  (Sep 10, 2010 | post #8)

If she was so religious, why would she be afraid of death? If I believed in a god I definetly would not be afraid of dying. Doesn't that mean that I would go to heaven if I died and believed in god?  (Aug 31, 2010 | post #2)
