Yes fuel efficient reliable imported vehicles built by companies like Toyota are selling more vehicles than Ford, GM and Chrysler combined in the US. The whole idea of the Cash for Clunkers is to get as many gas guzzling, air polluting, oil burning, worn out valve large vehicles off the road as possible. Since the US government caused depression is impacting over seas countries that make and sell vehicles in the US, why should the Cash for Clunkers ban imported vehicles? Still too many gas guzzling vehicles are being sold under the Cash for Clunkers. The average fuel economy improvement is just 2 to 3 mpg. The Cash for Clunkers should have only included vehicles that get 30 mpg or more combined fuel economy. Trading in vehicles that gets 17 mpg for a vehicle that gets 19 mpg and getting $3,500 from the US Government toward that gas guzzling vehicle is a waste of US tax payer money.  (Aug 16, 2009 | post #257)

If the US government has the "right" to take taxes out of my pay to fund the US military and fund the US Government, which the US government has done all my working life, I still pay US and State income taxes because my income is above poverty level, then the US government has a responsability to take care of disabled veterans, the US government has a responsibility to take care of disabled federal employees with the best care available, even if that means importing patiented drugs from other countries. Other wise when the US Government drafts people to fight for this country during war, or when the US government extends the service date of members of the US military during time of war, then every one of those draftees should refuse to serve this country, and let the enemies of the US distroy this country. Freedom must be paid for, and every American shares responsiblity to support disabled people who have been disabled while serving this country. If conservatives object to disability programs that take care of disabled federal employees, then the US military and the US government should be disbanded, and let America enemies kill all the American they want to.  (Aug 16, 2009 | post #67)

Wrong again. Since I sold my home, ended a trust deed, and returned the captial gains to my Mom, to keep my Mom from losing her home, I gave her the money to buy the Subaru. My Mom was driving a 13 year old Ford Mustang that was leaking gasoline. So I will get back part of the money I gave to my Mom to buy that Subaru. Not greed. I have 3 times the income of my Mom. I hate the waste that that Subrau represents. I hate AWD vehicles. Since I paid for my Mom's Subaru, I even paid for the roof over our heads, how I dispose of a unneed vehicle after her death is my choice.  (Aug 13, 2009 | post #57)
