Muslim Brotherhood looks to gains in Egypt protest

Let's get it serious. Mohamed El Baradei is a fair representative of what a moderate democracy may mean, specially coming from the international experience you stated. In a transitional country like today's Egypt, he's surely someone to be concerned about. You should understand that him, as any other single egyptian, has been banned from public duties for the past 30 years (unless you supported the US-and-Israel-back ed dictator, of course), so there is too little people with experience in managing the things to come, also noting we are talking about creating a political system almost from zero. His mirror will most surely be Ataturk's Turkey, that's what the people at Tahrir long asked all of these days. And yeah. Right now, 8.30pm February 12th, the egyptian army is the legal and current power in Egypt. Mubarak appointed them. The Iraqi issue has long been discussed, and now we know there were no WMD's in Iraq and, so, El Baradei was right when he asked for some more time. Although I haven't ever heard El Baradei himself stating those things about Israel and the USA you assure he did, we can't deny the fact that an empire can't be mantained with timidity, if you get what I mean.  (Feb 12, 2011 | post #571)

'Egypt is Free,' crowds chant after Mubarak quits

Oh, come on. Having fear every day from long time gone enemies can't be healthy for a human mind.  (Feb 12, 2011 | post #12)

'Egypt is Free,' crowds chant after Mubarak quits

I'm amazed at how people always find a way to talk about their fears, commies, and Obama; when the topic is completely unrelated. Let's have fun tonight.  (Feb 11, 2011 | post #7)

Oh, come on. This is a thread about Egypt, but 8/10 posts talk about Obama. Keep your fever in a proper thread, please; it's time to celebrate, a madman's gone.  (Feb 11, 2011 | post #542)

There's just no way it could happen, i sense you're just guessing there. Look, Mohamed El-Baradei is backed by the west, he'll play an important role in the weeks or months to come. But first things first, the army has to start talks with all sides.  (Feb 11, 2011 | post #540)

Muslim Brotherhood looks to gains in Egypt protest

They said the arab people was not adult, they said they weren't ready for democracy. Four US-backed dictators have fallen in 2011. Al Jazeera shut the microphones after the announcement and the only images we could see were the Tahrir crowds and their joy chants. This is beyond moving, exciting. Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen and Jordan. Who's next?  (Feb 11, 2011 | post #456)

Middle East Protests -- Is Syria the Next Egypt?

The syrian government is well-backed, like the saudi. Given what we're seeing in Egypt, it is very likely that both Israel and the US won't allow any regime change there.  (Feb 10, 2011 | post #9)

MIDEAST: Israelis Discover a New Love for Mubarak

Israel's military is more formidable than that. They even own WMDs. I hope Mubarak falls and democracy comes to Egypt. It would freak out Israel, but that's just the way things should be done.  (Feb 10, 2011 | post #23)

NATO chief: Vital for Egypt to remain moderate force in r...

Heh. So sad the opinions of the posters here aren't spread in a daily basis. It would help many people to overcome their fears... Or to expose them.  (Feb 10, 2011 | post #6)

Muslim Brotherhood looks to gains in Egypt protest

Funny. Not a single Brother has appeared around Tahrir Square in 15 days of demonstrations, yet the usual people always see danger everywhere. You should sleep some more time. I wonder what would happen to the Israeli excuse of 'we don't make agreements with dictatorships' when their non-agression pact with an actal dictatorship gets reviewed by a democratic government. That will be twice as funny.  (Feb 10, 2011 | post #245)

Islam Will Conquer Italy and the Entire West

I've been here for three years, and there's not a single week without its 'muslim apocalypse' thread. Don't you find it tiring?  (Feb 10, 2011 | post #11165)

The Middle East Channel: Will February 12 bring revolutio...

I hope so. So far the only intelligent madman has been the one in Morocco, when still with Ben Ali in power funded the national crops and such. I hope they all fall and all of those countries turn democratic. Israel interests aren't that important here in Southern Europe ;) Go, people.  (Feb 10, 2011 | post #2)

True Atheism doesn't exist

Alright, alright. Just keep in mind for your interest that next time you give some money at your local church you are not funding any god, but a guy (the priest) whose purposes in life are to appease at your conscience telling you what you want to hear; tell the people stories about war, bloodshed and a vengative god who kills humans when they use the rights he has offered them in the first place; eat three times a day with to the money you earn; and in many cases use their moral influence to gain political influence over many people without political education although with the same instinct of fear of unknown most have or just use their position to abuse your children. May you be happy ;)  (Aug 6, 2010 | post #1155)
