Who do you support for U.S. House in Illinois (District 5...

David Ratiowitz is one of the few running for political office that shares my concern for the unsustainable entitlement systems, especially social security, and has an understanding of the proper relationship between the American citizen and it's Government as envisioned by our founding fathers!  (Oct 16, 2010 | post #1)

Who do you support for Governor in Illinois in 2010?

Pat Quinn does not want to give up the lavish public pension systems and Blagojvich's increase in the medicaid eligibility that is bankrupting Illinois. So, he will raise taxes to make up the budget shortfall, and is holding education funding hostage for the taxes to pay for the pensions and medicaid eligability.  (Oct 16, 2010 | post #289)

Your Stroger tax turns 1

How about rather than use the "The guy from the other party [email protected] up, so that excuses me for voting for and supporting my party's #$%! up candidate" line all the time, we demand someone that actually cares about responsible government, wantsto reduce huge debt, wants to reduce the burden placed on taxpayers for ineffective programs and mandates, and would waste money neither on beurocracy, social programs that encourage bad behavior, nor our military empire.  (Jul 1, 2009 | post #31)

Illinois budget plan strips sales-tax discount on some items

By the way, the big issue right now is the proposed increase in Illinois' state income tax from 3.0% to 4.5%. Please contact your state legislator.  (May 21, 2009 | post #81)

I think it is quite presumptuous to assume that all the people posting on this board voted for Daley, Stroger, Quinn, etc. There are a lot of down the line party voters out there, but based on the assumption that these people are at least paying attention to the news and realizing on a basic level how it will affect them gives me reason to believe that a majority of these posters think about their votes more than you give them credit for. The only thing you could fault them with is not getting involved in the political process themselves to try to oust our current leaders.  (May 21, 2009 | post #80)

Obama injects message of hope into 100-day speech

Not smart enough to follow his oath of office to "Uphold and protect" the constitution. The constitution which clearly states that he and his administration DOES NOT HAVE THE RIGHT to do what it is doing right now!  (May 1, 2009 | post #85)

Obama injects message of hope into 100-day speech

Obama's 1st 100 days: Spending enough money to make Bush look like the penny-pincher of the millennium. Eliminating whatever hope remained that the US dollar would have any value whatsoever by the year 2020. All the while encouraging all kinds of bad business practices by subsidizing failure. Government taking over industries left and right, including health care. Reports from homeland security, etc. labeling large percentages of our nation's populations as potential terrorists. Mandatory National Service for our youth. A Carbon tax that is about to usher in the era of $8 gas (that is if the dollar can still buy anything by then). But I do think he made a good choice of dog- one good decision!  (Apr 30, 2009 | post #23)

Obama gets high marks in polls

Don't Love Bush at all, but hating Obama does not equal hating the Constitution. If you love the constitution, you hate BOTH BUSH AND OBAMA. Why? Because the constitution limits the power of the Federal Government to an enumerated list, in article 1 section 8. Amendment 10 states ALL OTHER POWERS are reserved TO THE STATES AND TO THE PEOPLE. Guess what is not listed as a power designated to the Federal Government: Health Care, coercing people to perform National Service, stabilizing the banking industry, protecting auto companies from failure, dictating what cars auto companies should and should not sell, education. The list goes on and on of power that is NOT GRANTED to the federal government that Obama and his administration is trying to seize. So, PLEASE DON'T TELL ME THAT I HATE THE CONSTITUTION BECAUSE I HATE OBAMA! Or anyone else for that matter.  (Apr 24, 2009 | post #53)

The sheep are steamed

Agree, which is why my main goal is simply to reduce the amount of power and money in the hands of politicians and increase the amount of control we the people have over our daily lives, decisions, and resources.  (Apr 24, 2009 | post #49)

I think it is strange and deceiving how they use the word "privatizatio n" to describe the Skyway, parking meter, and Midway Airport sell offs. It's almost like they are purposely trying to twist our ability to correctly make judgments on these issues. The nature of the word privatization generally brings up warm, positive feelings for those of us who value individual liberty, economic freedom, and personal privacy (it is from the same root word). Technically, the usage of the word is correct. I just feel that when people hear "privatizatio n" they think that the free market will be acting, with competition, and most importantly CONSUMER CHOICE. These "privatizatio ns" by Daley just sell city property to a company that will also have a state-enforced monopoly on their product.  (Apr 24, 2009 | post #48)

DaleyA's privatization binge

Agreed, I do not even know where to begin mentioning all of the things that are wrong with this article, but I would start by suggesting the author type Libertarian into Wikipedia.  (Mar 26, 2009 | post #4)
