Maryland 1 and done

It isn't Gary! (except for allowing offenses where they dance around the outside and shoot threes with no chance to get a rebound because NO ONE is ever heading to get a rebound). Face it they had a good season and played well at times but with any lead seemed to think it was nap time. Gary has been the best we ever had, I was one of the first to get on the bandwagon to fire Brian Billick, but Gary isn't in the same position. If in two or three years he still has teams that play this badly, then ok, until then give him some space, he's earned it. This is NOT the pros you know, these kids aren't getting paid for this. (I don't count scholarships because they work their butts off for them)  (Mar 14, 2008 | post #19)

Maryland's slide continues against Virginia

I can not understand what the problem is understanding that you actually need to get men under the boards to at least try to rebound missed 3 point shots yet the Terps constantly try to do just that, they just stand around admiring all those missed shots. What ever happened to driving the lane? Shame of it is the talent is there, barring a two win ACC tourney this team is NIT bound, and they won't win that either the way they're playing.  (Mar 9, 2008 | post #5)

Free agency questions

McNair should retire, he can't take a beating like he took last year, heck he couldn't take it last year. He was so bundled up in protective gear and tape he looked like the pillsbury dough boy, not his fault, but age takes a toll and he has had a great run; thats HAD a great a run. Time to move on. As usual the draft looms for the Ravens, the 8th pick the legacy of Coach Billick's play not to lose philosophy. Trade it down and get some more mid level picks, those have usually been exceptional. Hope next season has some sparks and dazzle, we don't have to win to make me happy we just have to have an offense that actually is fun to watch.  (Mar 6, 2008 | post #16)

Terps' tournament hopes tenuous following Va. Tech loss

Saw this one coming. Md has long had a tendency vs inferior teams to get an early lead and relax..hey this is in the bag; you can not do that, you get out of sync, lose that edge and then the game. Its a flaw that is curable, but thats up to Gary. Also we can lose all three games and still make it, by winning the ACC Tournament or by almost winning it. You could lose every game of the season and win the ACC tournament and go on, don't think its ever been done. Can Gary get them focused? I hope so, he is a great Coach.  (Feb 21, 2008 | post #5)

McNair says he can still play at a high level

Mike, where are you these days? Yeah McNair is great, but that was the past. He won't survive 4 games and banking on him is a huge error, TRADE HIM NOW. And duh, do you think all that happy talk from HQ might be a sign of a trade to come? He's too expensive and the ravens need cap room for the draft. In fact there are several Ravens that should be headed elsewhere before 2008 starts, face it this won't be a year we head off to the playoffs barring a miracle. McNair deserves our thanks, but its time to move on. Billick is history and what we do now is build a team that wont salary cap explode in 2009.  (Feb 14, 2008 | post #50)

Harbaugh: 'It just came together'

Steve McNair should hang up his cleats or be traded he won't last 4 games, not his fault that he's been beaten up but he has. Please don't trade for McNabb, we'd pay too much and get too little. Let Boller and Smith rotate, we will soon see how great the new offensive minds are then. If there is a great franchise QB in the draft go get him, but remember how many great QBs didn't get picked till 3rd round or later. Trade some of the cap costs while you can, unlikely this will be a super bowl year. By the way if Ogden retires does that free up cap space?  (Feb 14, 2008 | post #26)

McNamee: 'I have helped taint our national pastime'

This is what happens in a witch hunt. Sure players used, but how can you be sure which did and which didn't? Even the drug tests they use commonly have a huge percentage of false positives, but does that stop them? Hell no, they just write off innocents as a cost of the drug tests. Did Clements use? I do not know, but I do know that baseball and Congress are both shamed by this spectacle.  (Feb 13, 2008 | post #10)

Q&A with John Harbaugh

Scares me a lot when I hear that "Brian" did a great job of rallying everyone around him...really? How did he do that? As a Captain of a sinking ship? I wish Harbaugh the best but please drop the praise for Coach Billick, this isn't about him anymore but it is all about the Ravens and where they will be in the future. You have some good draft picks and can cut a player or two but the problem is simple, fix the offense. The solution to that starts with the offensive line, just as it always has but you have to find a QB who can work behind what we have, Smith shows some promise. Kyle has guts but lacks the vision. Steve McNair is past his prime and can not last a whole season, no one should expect or ask him to. McNabb can stay in Philly, he would cost way too much. Good luck Coach Harbaugh, you have a team with potential but missing a wheel or two. Instill discipline, start a new chapter where the Ravens no longer lead the league in penalties. That would be a good start  (Feb 12, 2008 | post #2)

Harbaugh's Day One energy good sign as Job One nears

McNair is past it, it would be cruel to put him back out on the field, trade, release or let him retire but he's no longer able to play anywhere near the level he needs to. Defensive backs are our glaring weakness. We need to improve the offensive line, and while a genuine offense can help that it still needs work. Boller is not the QB of the future, lacks awareness but has genuine toughness, a great guy but average QB. Troy Smith is a potential QB who can scramble, needs polish but can make things happen. We need a new franchise QB, I'd look at the the second round for someone and save the first round pick for a quality DB. Still look at the QBs in the playoffs and most of them were not high's more judgemental than rocket science. I, unlike many bloggers here, think that Ozzie knows what he is doing. This is a crucial draft coming up and we need to get some cap room, that's priority number one. I think Jonathon is done with the game, sad to say and sad to see him go. He's been awesome.  (Jan 20, 2008 | post #10)

Bisciotti must unite divided front office

Thank Goodness Mike didn't get his way, no Marty Ball. Whew, now if we don't get Cam as Offensive coordinator and keep Ryan on we could be good. Please Mike, I like ya, get off the grump train, good times are comin, now the draft!  (Jan 19, 2008 | post #30)

Hiring Schottenheimer would bring Ravens respect

What is with this insane desire to hire Marty? Are you nuts? He isn't that great and won't take the Ravens where they need to go. Look what he did for the Redskins...right? I usually agree with Mike but this is inexplicable, get a real Coach. Hey Ralph Friedgen can coach, and he won't have to recruit. HIRE HIM, or Rex for that matter..but NOT MARTY, this is like an uncharted rock that we missed only to head back and try yet again for another try. Heck I'd hire John Madden in a heart beat..not that he'd do it,,,,  (Jan 17, 2008 | post #47)

Experience not preferred?

Biscotti is dead on, the problem wasn't talent, the problem was coaching.  (Jan 16, 2008 | post #15)

Coaching search parallels previous one

marty would be a disaster and make people long for Billick's return, have we learned nothing? People talk about getting QB Vick..he wasn't that good anyway and would be another disaster. Garret looks good.....we don't need an old coach just a good one  (Jan 13, 2008 | post #3)
