Illinois rethinks taking driver's licenses for traffic ti...

We seem to be overlooking something. If you have money, posting bond isn't a big deal. It makes a difference if the $75 bond is just chump change to you, or if it's your grocery money for the week, though. There needs to be an available alternative - you shouldn't be jailed for being poor.  (Mar 7, 2008 | post #37)

Pettitte apologizes for 'embarrassment'

Legal? No, but God save us if we don't stop letting the nose of the government camel get under every tent - even our family affairs. Not exactly an organized crime ring, is it?  (Feb 18, 2008 | post #5)

Dodger fan seeks $1 million over parking lot punch

Absolutely right about speed difference being a causal factor in fog-related accidents. Too bad common sense isn't more common. Slow down, but if you are not comfortable driving more that 20 MPH, consider getting off and waiting it out if at all possible - you are at serious risk of being struck in the rear. At the other end, the speed limit is for clear conditions. If you can't see, reduce your speed to give yourself more room and more time to react. Stating the obvious, I know, but people seem to forget lives are endangered when they drive badly.  (Jan 7, 2008 | post #42)

Two seconds isn't enough time to react and avoid a developing situation - but it's better than some of the idiotic tailgating I've seen. I've driven a tractor-trailer for 25 years, and fog still scares me. (BTW, some of the fools I see flying by in trucks should be yanked off the highway; they are an embarrassment to the rest of professional drivers.)  (Jan 7, 2008 | post #40)

Clock ticking on sale of herb

I don't know a lot about salvia - and I'd bet the representatives supporting the bill don't either. Knee-jerk reaction sounds about right, the legislative equivalent of "shoot first, ask questions later"... Our government seems to have forgotten that they are forbidden to needlessly impinge upon personal liberties. What about the social cost of imprisonment and a felony record for so many in today's society? Freedom? How yesterday...  (Dec 25, 2007 | post #4)

Teen Charged in Football Game Flyover

Not the first kid to exercise poor judgment. Since no one was hurt, pretty cool. You have to wonder if any of those faculty members signing the ball knew what he was up too, though, and why they didn't try to dissuade him. We've got kids murdering people; let's not get too crazy about a dumb stunt. I gotta admit, I'm grinnin' about it...  (Nov 9, 2007 | post #15)
