Jobless benefits reduced in NJ

Nothing was reduced, an extension of already extended benefits was denied. People have no motivation to get back to work if they are getting paid to stay at home. Sure, they are making less, but wouldn't you take a pay cut to lay around all day? yes.  (Dec 13, 2010 | post #2)

clean up 206 / 130

When I lived elsewhere and they had a problem with the "main drag" like we do on the merged portion of 206 / 130. The city passed zoning laws requiring business owners to keep a minimum standard of cleanliness, have their signage a certain size , and keep their landscaping up. If not, it would result in fines. The street was cleaned up quickly and business surged. Every time i drive by the edgewood, the old burger king, the old buick dealer, the lot near the empire pizza or any number of unkept lots, I just see a dumpy city. This can be fixed. We don't need to be the typical NJ city. Also, the railroad does not run on the spur near the tree streets. Can we not buy that railroad overpass and have that nasty rusty thing removed? or at least have the city paint it completely. These things will always hang over bordentown until something is done.  (Apr 17, 2010 | post #1)

Mastoris' owners open sports pub

Not really a place for "the guys" to hang out. If you want to bring a date or the kids to a sports bar and dont mind unloading a lot more dough than usual, then yes, it is great. When I hang with my buddies,, I want a place that is a little more real, A little less busy, and a LOT cheaper.  (Apr 17, 2010 | post #2)

N.J. Education Dept. offers advice on merging small towns

Bordentown perhaps bit off more than it could chew by adding another level of middle school...maybe they could sell mcfarland and go back to having just the elementary schools, the old high school as a middle school and then the new high school. Mcfarland would provide some revenue for the city. Or better yet, sell the old high school.  (Apr 17, 2010 | post #3)

Construction eyed for Bordentown waterfront property

A gateway on the riverline to bordentown city restaurants. Dont be closed minded. This, along with opening up to some waterfront businesses, could be an economic boom for this burgeoning city. We need to strike a up a resurgence in Bordentown. Take down some of the slumhomes, fix up the city and make it a more desirable place to live and do business. Perhaps your real estate value will go up and not just taxes as of late. This country and this city was founded on ideas just like this. So, "let's all jump on with the team for the big win"... Building New Houses in Bordentown City

I thnk that bordentown city has a lot of neat old houses, but really needs about 75% torn down, the streets moved farther apart and larger lots with better parking put in.. most of the city is a slum.  (Apr 17, 2010 | post #9)
