Ways to Improve Oklahoma City? Film for Good

Hi guys. My name is Ed David and I help create a web bulletin board called Film for Good. http://www.filmfor good.co Its a site to link causes to filmmakers who want to help make films that help in some way to improve things. Let me know if you have any ideas or projects that would be good to have a documentary made of OC - even something short for the web or if you have a cause that you want to raise money or awareness for. Or any questions. Thanks for your time. Ed  (Sep 15, 2013 | post #1)

This took some serious digging but this looks like a good place to start for people who want to help drug addicts in West Virginia - http://www.prester a.org/ Any thoughts on this place?  (Sep 9, 2013 | post #46)

Thanks so much Steve Monkey. I am mostly by trade a commercial cinematographer - this helps me support myself, travel the world, working with local people on projects - mostly for commercials. I also spend a lot of time working for free on art projects and documentary projects. I created http://www.Filmfor good.co very recently after thinking that instead of myself starting a film about a political scientist I admired, I would create a system for people who need their voices heard to team up with people who can help them. The site is completely free. I spent my own money on it and I expect nothing from it except for the hope that it can help start some movements to help solve problems and also give exposure to problems - that's always a start. I would be honored to have you and other people on it who have ideas to help out the place. Experts I would call them. Anyway I started it just a few weeks ago so there aren't many people on it but I want to slowly build it up to make projects where hopefully they are for good. On the site you can put out an idea and either brainstorm for it or even find out about a local filmmaker - all that. Right now the site is an experiment and right now I"m shooting a PSA for the Veterens Hospital so I don't have time to help make it reach more people. But soon hopefully the idea catches on.  (Sep 9, 2013 | post #45)

Human beings I believe have an infinite capacity for love. Anger and agression is a defensive and learned behavior. Problems are everywhere. Lets try to fix things. A highway is a good idea. More industry is another way - more jobs. I'm still researching other places in the US thatt are getting better and seeing how they do it.  (Sep 9, 2013 | post #43)

Steve I love the idea of the expressway bringing in more business - making it more accessible. I think that's a really good idea. Also I would love to hear the voices of local people. My website I created www.filmforgood.co is about linking filmmakers with causes - so it's not just me - its lots of different people - so I hope it would be all types of people so you and others can shape it however you want. I completely hear you about fear of outsiders, exploitation - all that - I completely understand that. It has happened time and time again. Another thing I'm curious about - what would be good charities, organizations to donate to help the drug abuse issues in Wyoming County specifically? I feel really sad about the situation after viewing the film. I did already donate to ASP which does housing repairs in the area. I love them. But let me know - let us use the power of the internet to help and try to make the world a better place. Thanks Steve.  (Sep 9, 2013 | post #41)

I agree with Steve Monkey - the point is to educate non-West Virginians about West Virginia. That's the point - and you shouldn't attack anyway who seems genuinely curious about the situation in the area and teh rest of the country. Steve is doing a good thing and helps represent positively the people of West Virginia. I'm going to start to look at places in the US that went from bad economic conditions and how they turned around in like the great depression era - probably the era most closely representing the problems we face today in America.  (Sep 8, 2013 | post #33)
