I miss the old posters on topix

I was wondering when you were going to post a pic of Flair back up, and now it's on there. I wish the best in the coming new year for all of you, and to have good health. Mine however, has not been so good.'Anyhoo, it's good to see you back along with the others.  (Saturday Nov 26 | post #77)

I think I saw on another thread where he had stated that he'd lost his password, and had to start anew.  (Saturday Nov 26 | post #76)

I'm glad to see some of the older posters returning as I've saw EX Vol, Persona, and Limerick on here. Perhaps some of us can revive the 'ol board with something interesting to talk about, as I sure do miss conversing with everybody of the past.  (Saturday Nov 26 | post #72)

gimme something positive

I would advise trying to spend more time with friends and LESS time by yourself, if that is the case. Do you have a hobby or anything that can entertain your thoughts?? You can best believe that all of us have been through it at one time or another, and those that haven't surely will also. Everyone experiences the highs and lows in life, it's what you do in those low points that can define your will and determination to carry on. I know that I don't have to state it, and I'm sure you've heard it multiple times in your lifetime......NEVE R give up!! It seems that that's one characteristic of a Human is our adaptability to almost any situation that life can throw at us, and our progressing forward no matter how difficult it can be. Now, as far as alcohol is concerned, remember it can be thought of as a depressant-bringin g you further down. I'm not going to preach adversely against it, cause I so do enjoy some really cold ones every once in a while, but hey, you can't live on the stuff!! Stay away from the folks who use drugs, especially if you want to find a good Woman to have a life with. You can't find true happiness with anyone who prizes their drug, or drugs over you, and there's usually two stops for those people, jail and the grave yard unless they kick their habit. Once again, everything in moderation, get rid of the negative things and always keep the positive things. One final thought........One of my favorite things I like to quote is this........... " I can be miserable by myself, I'm sure NOT going to be miserable with someone else!!" I Iove a good joke too , and will leave you with this, hopefully without angering the female posters on here: An old man told me years ago that "women are like busses, the next one will be along in twenty minutes", and "why love just one woman when you can love them all!!" There's good women out there, sometimes one just has to go through the quest of finding them.  (Friday Nov 25 | post #6)

It seems that there's an abundance of those trolls on any given forum. We sure had some years ago that bounced back and forth on any given discussion. I just try to ignore them as they do tend to clutter up the board.  (Friday Nov 25 | post #65)

Not all of us are gone from the 'ol topix board as sometimes we pop back in from time to time to see what's happening on here. Perhaps it's like a distant calling beckoning us back from the boredom of everyday life as we hope for interesting discussions to materialize, and thus, we keep returning.  (Thursday Nov 24 | post #60)

Whats in the sky at night time

I often times can see the satellites that are traveling across the night sky just after sunset and when it first gets dark. They always appear to have a dull, white looking light to them as they are reflecting sunlight that is over the horizon and out of our line of sight .From where I live, one can almost at any time see an abundance of commercial jets traveling across the sky. Every once in a while I catch a glimpse of something flashing from way up in space. I often equate this to some space junk traveling way far overhead that is catching the suns rays and reflecting it back down toward Earth as the junk tumbles about . I'm always on the lookout as I venture outside at night, peering skyward for any odd or strange lights that catch my eye. I absolutely love the night sky and its abundance of mystique and light phenomena.  (Sunday Nov 6 | post #15)

Old Morristown

I can recall several of the stores there that you mentioned as we shopped there back around 1975 or so.The barber shop was located in the corner slot just past Rose's before that department store moved its location to over where JC Penney's was.I barely remember a bookstore, but I do remember a women's clothing store called Three Sisters. It seems as though the Sears store was a real small place over next to JC Penney's where you could walk into and place your order from their catalog just as you described.Perhaps if I'm thinking correctly there also was a pharmacy store like Revco or something similar. The one thing that I can vividly recall is the pair of blue jeans that was part of the JC Penney's letters upon the building. At night those store letters would light up and the jeans would glow blue within those letters.  (Jan 4, 2016 | post #222)

6:40am, 1-4-2016...Did anyone else see this in the sky?!?!

I'm an avid sky watcher but I left for work this morning at around 6;50 AM and was heading in a Northwest direction. Most of the time I purvey the night sky, but when I have to leave for work before the Sun starts to come up, I'm usually watching for the satellites that one can see crossing the sky occasionally. These satellites reflect the Sunlight which sometimes appear as a dim light, and gets brighter at some point crossing the sky, then dims again as it travels further away from the horizon at which point the Sunlight is brightest over that particular horizon. The best time to see the satellites is just slightly after dark, and just before dawn before the night sky starts to turn that milder blue color. At this point the even though we can't see any light from the Sun whatsoever, the satellites high in their orbit can illuminate the rays of the Sun.What you are describing sounds more like a meteor, or possibly, several meteors such as the other poster described in a meteor shower, however, I've not ever witnessed a single meteor do as you've described.I would've been amused and a bit bewildered to see that, and I'm sorry I missed it!!  (Jan 4, 2016 | post #7)

African-American

Why the Confederate flag flies in SC

You are correct in your statements as here in the South there is a substantial amount of Scottish, Irish. German, welsh, Dutch ancestry etc.The Cherokee Indian bloodlines is inherit within a lot of families around here, such as mine. The African bloodline, while mixed with other bloodlines, is thought to be inherit within certain families located further into a more secluded, less populated area North from where we live. This certain bloodline, mixed with European, African and sometimes Native American bloodlines, is known to the locals here as Melungeons.  (Jun 24, 2015 | post #1055)

another speed trap!!!!!!!!

Thanks folks, you know you can usually catch me on here somewhere griping and fussing about the 'scameras, and a lot of good that does huh?? Oh well, at least I get to vent from time to time and hopefully have some interesting discussions on the 'ol forum.  (Jan 11, 2015 | post #8)

another speed trap!!!!!!!!

Nothing really surprises me anymore in what the dear 'ol city of Morristown will do to get the money.First it was the traffic enforcement series of the all miraculous life saving intersection/speed cameras. Then came the electric, mechanized gods watching over Highway 25E and Highway 160 to keep us all safe from the ever so dangerous occasional speeder out to do us in.The speed limit dropped in certain areas around town as soon as the 'scameras went into operation. Now, add to that the police officers looking for any minor infraction of driving relating laws to be able to cite one over and you've just gotten an overall grand scheme of things.  (Jan 10, 2015 | post #4)
